well not my fav but i'm def. a fan.
I read that trilogy way back when it was released (damn how long ago was that)
and yeah with Disney making all the books moot...i don't really even know how/where thrawn fits in the SW universe now.
i wonder is mara jade still a thing

Not yet. Im guessing she fell into the anals of obscurity like most all of the EU. ( though with han kabaobed now would be the perfect time to introduce Dash Rendar And leebo and the Outrider, )

*im still rooting for jar jar to be snoke haha. Wonder if its gonna be pruneface? ;) maybe an angry mutilated wedge?

Hmmm... maybe you mean "annals". Or maybe you mean the dark butthole of lost souls. Either works, I guess.

Thrawn has the privilege of being the first canon-immigrant from the old EU to the, uh, new EU (a lot of people call it DU as in Disney Universe). From my understanding the character depicted in the new canon is very similar to what came before it's just that his active presence has been shifted to during the galactic civil war instead of afterwards.

Technically Mara Jade is still a thing because Disney can't literally erase all of that material but she exists now in the void of non-canon "Legends" lore. Given her heavy interaction with key characters she doesn't seem like an easy fudge-in like we could do with someone like Revan whose original story was already extremely detached from the "main" narrative. Again I'll say I'm quite surprised to see how far Mara Jade's stock with fans appears to have fallen, she got creamed during that last fan poll.

If it's like the Force Awakens in that it's better than the original, I'm game.

Well RotJ is my second favorite SW movie so I guess it's fine seeing it again.

deecee4 09-12-2017 03:42 PM

I'm cool with Abrams coming back..cant imagine he'd come back only to take the same missteps he made with TFA so not really expecting a rethread of Jedi. Anyway, I wanna see how ep.8 turns out before I can say for sure.

MeLikeJinx 09-12-2017 03:46 PM

I didn't really like TFA, but it was a fun high energy movie. Rogue One was a better movie overall IMO, but not really a fun SW experience. I think Abrams will do a fine job wrapping it all up.

RolandofGilead 09-12-2017 04:24 PM

I've stopped buying Hasbro 6" Star Wars figures, but I may still need that Snoke to go with all the Figuarts Pretorian Guards.

Augustus_Cole 09-12-2017 05:17 PM

There are pics up of a Jacina (splchk?) Solo Black Series 6" action figure that actually looks pretty good.

It wouldn't surprise me if it becomes another rehash.

Nothing wrong with sticking to a Tried & True formula.

The key to making a rehash work though is tweaking the details in the right manner...
something ROTJ failed to do so horribly that it ranks by far as my least favorite SW film- yep even below the prequels & TFA.

-Walking Teddy Bears using sticks & stones & Wile E. Coyote stratagems to kick the crap outta Imperial Stormtroopers?!
-Lando & that melted-Clark Gable-faced alien piloting the Millennium Falcon instead of Han & Chewie?!
-And Vader... the darkest, coolest, baddest-ass villain since J.R.R. Tolkien's Nazgul... turns out to be a decrepit, marshmallow-headed waffler?!

For shame, George Lucas... FOR SHAME!

Now please excuse me while I wrap myself back up in MOD-U (My Own Damn Universe), where Mara Jade remains ridiculously popular & a handful of Biker Scouts are currently sitting around a campfire on Endor eating Ewok roasted over a spit & most of all: Darth Vader currently reigns as the all-time greatest Sith Emperor ever to rule the galaxy!

I like that Universe! The Biker Scouts & Ewok roast had me rolling!

Same here. I'm still a little pissed that there's never going to be a Force Unleashed 3. You don't end something with a MASSIVE cliff-hanger like that and go f**k it.

I don't care if it's not canon anymore just finish the damn story!

I honestly have no idea what the writers of TFU2 were thinking ending the game like that. The first one ultimately came off as really close to fan-fic wish fulfillment but at least it was contained and had an ending that made sense within the context of the movies. They wrote the second one like they were absolutely positive fans were gonna eat that shit up and demand more.

As for RotJ, I rank it below TFA but still above the prequels.

ukmu 09-14-2017 12:21 AM

I liked Rogue One a lot when I saw it at cinema. After rewatching it again at home I discovered it has almost zero replayability. For me, I have always watched them over and over, hundreds of times in fact. Rogue One on closer inspection didn't do it for me.

I actually rate TFA and ESB as a tie for first on the being able to watch over and over scale, not necessarily story. I put ANH and ROTJ together just slightly behind the first two. Then in a far away third is RO as it isn't exciting to rewatch. I don't count the prequels, they don't exist in my world. So much so, I vowed that my son will NEVER see clones, Anakin, or a jumping Yoda for as long as I can help it.

I have a feeling TLJ is going to blow them out of the water for me. Loving the vehicles for the film so far too. I have seen the leaked HEAVY WALKER coming out later too.... bad ass toys. The Lego version is out already so no spoilers also Lego has that crazy new heavily armoured mini walker, looks pretty legit. I am most curious about the Knights Of Ren story arc and wondering if they will get figures.

Augustus_Cole 09-14-2017 03:07 AM

i don't want another rehashed movie.
I want fresh ideas and new directions.
I honestly HONESTLY believe much of what we liked about TFA had to do with nostalgic factors....
Subtract ALL of that,,,and what kind of movie was it.

JokerArkham 09-14-2017 05:14 AM

finally found the black series kylo (Last Jedi) :D
