I'm gonna save my thoughts on the whole matter for the movie thread, so we don't get too far derailed here.

After all, there's a reason this is an actual comic cover: http://i67.tinypic.com/s2v3iq.jpg Preach it, Aaron. |

I'm glad the X-Men and Fantastic 4 are home. Makes me smile.

Sorry for asking here because it is incredibly off topic, but does anyone have a clue what may happen if you've bought the digital X-Men movies (through Amazon) once disney takes over? Do the contracts have to be renegotiated and they're gone from our library into the internet ether, where we must purchase them again?
FWIW I own the blu rays as well but there's a few series I've liked having digital back ups to watch anywhere, X-Men just happens to be one of them. |

I'm also hoping now that there won't be any issues with the Avengers facing Kang as the next villain after Thanos.

Secondly, Disney will NOT own a majority of media companies. For one thing, the deal does not include Fox's news divisions (which would have been shut down immediately if it did). Secondly, Disney and Fox were only two studios. There's still WB, Lions Gate Films, A24, Legendary Films, Sony, Universal, Paramount, Dreamworks, MGM, etc. The only thing Disney gains is a majority of the major franchises, which considering Fox hasn't gotten an Alien movie right since 86, a Predator sequel that doesn't suck, a third good Die-Hard movie, and most of the X-Men movies ranged from polished turd to dogshit, they have little to nothing. Planet of the Apes and Deadpool are like the only things they have done right in recent years. Hell, Kingsman 2 was actually a thing. Quote:
Besides, Sieg Disney! |
Bendis has talent, but then he fumbles a lot. The problem with Marvel is they has a lot of untalented writers and artists. They seem to hate their core audience, and in case anyone is in a shell, Marvel abandoned hiring talent a long time ago, and now hires based on ideology. They admit as much on Twitter and various articles that get released where interviews are done.
Bendis is DC's problem, but Marvel is still a train wreck that keeps crashing. Marvel is at a point where sales do not matter; just relaunch and crash...it's Groundhog Day at Marvel every few months it seems. The deal still has to deal with huge obstacles involving the government and I think it will be greatly looked at as this is something that in the long run is bad for consumers. When the dust settles in a week, I am very interested in all the details emerge. Fox is dead if this goes through, and will slowly wither away. |

Lets hope that they don't tone down Deadpool.

All this deal really does is trim the unprofitable fat of a movie studio and make Rupert Murdoch and his son even richer. |
