Got Drax today and finally finished Groot :)

These figures look great, but I'm still waiting to see the movie before I commit to buying them. I like the GotG comics in small doses, so, for me, the current Drax and Rocket figures are sufficient.

I'm pretty sure I'll probably be kicking myself when August rolls around and those of us who haven't purchased these yet are stuck paying Black Widow prices for Nova and Carnage prices for Gamora, lol :p

NoodleChow 06-19-2014 09:45 PM

The 2008 run of GotG that the movie is mostly based off of is solid. I'm not sure how the film itself is gonna be but I got the team just out of sheer love for the characters. Can't wait for tomorrow to get RR and to finish off Groot. :D

I bet Groot wishes you had taller shelves, sir.

What IS that red robot on the right, beside Iron Man?

GOTG Iron Man. It's the armor he wore while he was part of the team. :)

So the Hasbro wolverine is accurate....and yes this its sarcasm.

Sarcasm or not, in Fox's X-Men universe Wolverine is over 6" tall. So if this were a movie figure, he really would be accurate. I've come to terms with it, since I really like Hugh Jackman in the role.

Having said that, that toy has a comic costume so yeah, way too tall. But it's not like this is the first time Hasbro's done something like that, and I highly doubt it will be the last.

Now I won't have to annoy the employees at Target anymore. :P

Anyone else notice that Nova is extremely fragile feeling/loose at the neck hinge, bicep swivel, elbows, and knee joints? Love having the figure, but he feels like his joints won't hold up over time.

Relena Warcraft 06-20-2014 11:12 AM

I did notice that, yeah. I threw him in the freezer almost immediately.

My Nova has a super loose head. Everything else is good.
What does freezing do?

I posted a review on Amazon about how loose and cheap the figures feel. They lack a certain heft that makes the figures fall much more easily also.

So yes, very loose. Harbro seems to be cutting costs, imo because these figures are very soft and loose at least Nova was.

Funny, yep might be the best alternative.

I really love the series 3 WOlverine from legends, but it lack articulation in the upper thighs and waist, and is a little big. I use that Wolverine for my Marvel Select display. IT's the best sculpted Wolverine ever.

As much as comic Drax peg warmed I thing the Movie Drax might be the best looking figure in the line. The face sure looks like Dave, and the raised tattoos look great. Groot comes in second for me because a good face sculpt, of an actor, will beat a CG character any day. Zoe looks ok, but just kind plain for me. I love the Black Widow heads from the Cap:WS line, but hate they could not get the Chris Evans head to look good.

Iceman 06-21-2014 07:36 AM

They may not have had rights to use Chris Evans' image and so they couldn't make the head look like him. That's very common.

Shot in the dark..... Does anyone have a moonstone and satana they don't mind parting with.... Looking to purchase these two ASAP.

How about a B.A.F. Puck instead

NoodleChow 06-21-2014 12:51 PM

In hand, both are actually pretty good. RR needs an overhaul though.

Failed at all 5 Targets in my area. Scalpers are really starting to upset me. Nothing but Star Lord and Iron Man left in boxes in the back of all the stores that haven't even made it to the pegs yet. Looks like Rocket Racoon and Nova are the rarest of the GOTG wave..

VashTS 06-22-2014 09:31 AM

Scalpers got my Nova's in QUeens NY also.

Byrnes 06-22-2014 11:31 AM

Why do you assume it's scalpers. We are all looking for these figures. If I nab one before someone else doesn't mean I'm a scalper. I went to target the other day. Guy checked the computer and said hos store had none. Store kind of close had 2 and another store had 8. That's not a whole lot of figures available to an entire northeast city of 4 million people. I just think at one per case collectors are going to grab them up Asap.

Phantomcrow 06-22-2014 12:52 PM

I went to my local Target Friday and they had not put out the Guardians ML, or any Guardians merch yet, and they had been in the stockroom since Tuesday. I already have a set from Amazon I got a few weeks ago, but my friend who was at work at the time Friday afternoon wanted them and I had the funds to get him 2 of them and he wanted Rocket and Nova because he knew they were what everyone was after. The Target guy went and got them in back for me so I could get them for my friend. I was not scalping, just helping a friend. Just because the figure you wanted is not on the shelf does not ALWAYS mean a scalper got to it. I understand that more than just me collects toys in my little part of the world but there are always little A-Holes out there too. PLUS when stores only get 1 case of something it makes it a little hard if you are not first one there.

THIS. Getting tired of unlucky toy shoppers blaming bogeyman scalpers for buying figures they want before they do. It could be anyone... Hell, I'd even bet a ton of folks that don't even want him are buying Novas just to complete Groot.
