It's actually kinda badass.

Yeah! I knew which one you meant. I liked how that one came out in the 90's toon too.

Sweet, felt good coming in around that time. Secret Invasion and all that.

TheDub 08-16-2012 10:51 PM

I wanted so badly to get that one in the Marvel Blind Pack version, and now I'm thinking of selling the ones I already have. My how times have changed......=(

Allright. I know what i'm going to send you now- I'll need your mailing addy.
In the mid 80's Peter David wrote The All New, All Daring, Peter Parker The Spectacular Spider-Man (honestly the title on every issue) and Rich Buckler did the art- they were the best Spidey stories ever in my opinion and I have a few to give you- You've seen Spidey fight around the world, on Battleworld and even in space, but in some of these issues you'll see Spidey fight in the one element he has no hope of winning in.
Suburbia.

Awww yeah. why those issues are not collected I'll never know....probably due to the overlap with Amazing and Web of SM- back then you could read the three titles back to back and it would give you one week of Peter's life- each title came out one week apart with one week off at month's end- and they always left you with a cliffhanger on that issue!

Anyway, I totally hear ya on how a character can change (or help) your life when you're in a rough spot- I scored the whole run of rom, (plus annuals!)from the owner of a LCS when I was fifteen- for forty bucks- and read them in one weekend. So I'm a Rom fan for life.
I ended up giving the run to a children's hospital- along with like six full long boxes of comics- when I moved back in college, but I still pick p an old issue now and then to re-experience those stories.

Comic Pack on right.

the repaints don't do it for me. both look forced. Sinister looks wicked in all black... and the black highlights on Apoc look lame. too much Carolina Panthers going on there.

Dude, both those points are freakin' awesome. So glad you gave them to a children's hospital. The cosplay group I hang with at times got together for the one main reason, to dress up as super heroes and hang out with kids so we can color with them, give them gifts and just make em smile.

Jason Abbadon 08-16-2012 10:59 PM

Hmm...I like it but feel it would be better with no text boxes, then move yur name to the bottom and stretch it across the width of the image and have only Spidey's hand extending above the background's box.

That's my Art Director Opinion for ya- takes it or leaves it.:Spidey

The text boxes were part of the background image. I just made them bigger and changed the text. I would have to spend a good deal of time cloning in the empty space.

I might go with a different background at some point.

I hear that's what they're working on in the Emma Juggolaussus pack.

@everyone - it's been a long time since I was an active participant in any forums, so thank you all for making this a great experience. I find myself on here more and more as each day passes. The pics you guys and gals post are awesome (and they make me drool lol). I also appreciate replies to my comments and questions - y'all rock. Thank you for making me feel so welcome here. I'm loving this forum so much that I'm considering making a BST thread rather than dealing with evilBay. I'd rather help fellow collectors out than join the ranks of the scalpers.

Thanks again for being such a great community!

Thanks for being a part of it!

Anyone need the TRU Exclusive Spidey packs? I've got a couple left over. Anyone interested in a 4/$25 Peteparker deal? I might be able to cobble something together for the first time in almost 7 months...

Which ones?

Peteparker 08-16-2012 11:59 PM

Both, Doom/Spidey & Rhino/Spidey

There's a black and green version too (maybe it's the same one with alternat colors).

If you're talking about Spidey, then I think you're referring to Big Time Spidey aka the Stealth Suit.

Jason Abbadon 08-17-2012 12:48 AM

Only in New York could a glowing neon green costume be considered "stealth".

OKay, Las Vegas and Toyko too, but that's it.

Scythe 08-17-2012 01:07 AM

Hahaha. If I recall, when it turns white, he goes transparent and then it's stealth, when it's red, I believe it mutes him or something like that. Green just means the suit's on. It's been awhile since I read that arc.

I like the suit. Just so many changes with Spidey's look.

Scythe 08-17-2012 01:42 AM

It's good though, the dude prepares for his battles a lot better now and he still goes back to the classic colors at the end of the day. Been enjoying that a lot lately.

What do you mean he goes back to his red and blue. He changes clothes or his big time costume can look like the classic fit?

Forgive my ignorance but I've not read any of the big time stories.

No prob dude, I'll fill ya in. He wore his Big Time suit for like two or three missions, then he gave it to Kaine in Spider-Island. Which, I'm hoping we get a new Scarlet Spider Kaine MU figure. So, in between issues he has changed back to his red and blue cloth suit, but his new white FF suit is like made out of I think unstable molecules or whatever, which can shift in color and design to basically look like any of his other suits. My general meaning though is that writers and artists have switched between suits, but still have him wear his classic costume most of the time. Unlike back in the day where he lasted quite awhile wearing the black symbiote suit or Ben Reilly was Spidey.

But dont forget the 90's Spider Armor and Captain Universe costumes, or the 1602 outfit, House of M costume and the Tron-riffic outfits from this year....and no collection of Spidey outfits would be complete without one that's all ripped up.

either you are purposefully forgetting or just blanking but don't forget Spider-Phoenix from Spider-man 26 with the Excalibur crossover

Spider-Phoenix

Jason Abbadon 08-17-2012 05:56 AM

Wow. I had not seen that before- I'm guessing Bendis has not either since Spidey does not mention it in this silly AVsX crossover thing!

SquirtleSquad7 08-17-2012 06:23 AM

I haven't kept up with him in the comics lately, but they Definately need to do another MU scarlet spider. Either his new costume, or the red and black costume with the big webshooters. My repaint of that just isn't cutting it for me.

evilanimation 08-17-2012 07:26 AM

Shout out to all my collecting buddies, if anyone sees a Thundercats Storm Charger on clearance can someone hook me up?
