I second that. I’d love it if they made both the Netflix and Comic Kingpin. He’s a long over due figure. Him and Doc Ock

Theyd have to really bulge out that window on the box to accomdate that belly.

And I’m not opposed to smaller BAFs, don’t get me wrong. Okoye is great, even if I think she should’ve been a single release so we could get a Man-Ape BAF. I just think when possible, I’d prefer the BAFs be characters too big to do as a single release. It’s why I loved the recent Hulkbuster and Giant-Man.

Hmmm... I wonder if Hasbro could bring back the Face Off series. A Daredevil vs Kingpin pack is a no brainer.

Hulkbuster is what got me started on Legends. The smaller BAF’s are disappointing a bit.

Just watched Jay C's news update on Marvel Legends and he mentioned hearing rumors that Professor X in a hover chair would be part of the Legendary Riders series.

You should've added some $30 Bat-nipples so he knew he was in the right place.

It really was a great BAF. Real bang for your buck that time.

So maybe we wouldn't get one as a BAV in a wave. That would be cool, frees up room for SAURON! :D And it gives us the Professor X in a hover chair that MUST get done at some point.

I think you've captured my thought on 2018 regarding Legends, in it's entirety. I literally want everything revealed/rumored/teased/etc...

The Kingpin is coming in some form. At sdcc someone asked one of the Marvel Legends presenters from Hasbro about it during their Q&A, to which and they replied..."Does everyone want a Kingpin? Done." I think though in the end it will most likely be an MCU version, since that was what the question was specifically about, but it wouldn't be impossible to give both since there's not a whole lot of difference in the character from the pages to the screen outside of size. Just a head swap and you're good to go. I hope it won't be oversized though. I would rather my Kingpin be filled out and closer to the recent Colossus figure in size, as opposed to looking like the old Blob figure.

As for smaller Build A Figures, I do not mind it too much as long as it is not on the Rocket Raccoon/Hit Monkey/Puck level. Not every character in the Marvel Universe is giant sized, and truthfully, many collectors (myself included) will end up running out of space for them at some point. Not only that, but the clamor for giant sized figures will eventually lead to Hasbro to simply run out of ideas once the heavy hitters are done, and just start throwing darts at a board for their inspiration (like they did with this crappy Pacific Rim reject Spidey...what a disappointment.)

What pisses me off about the BAFs that are standard sized figures is when Hasbro pulls off crap like they did with the Mantis wave. Mantis was a great figure that SHOULD have been included in the two pack with Ego or as a standard release. Instead, Hasbro went a really s***** route and went for a money grab, giving us THREE Star-Lords over two waves, one of them being terrible, while the other was a re-release, forcing many to buy him again just to get Ego. Oh...and one of those Star-Lords didn't come with a BAF part, while the awful one we didn't need nor want did.

That's why I waited to get any Star-Lord until the Ego pack, still lame of Hasbro to pull that. If it had been Ego and Mantis then sales likely would have been better.

I think a lot of the complaining, as evidenced by some people in this thread, comes from people not even knowing anything about Gwenpool before they start lighting into the concept. Yes, it spun out of a variant cover thing, that's true. But that seems to be the only thing people who haven't even given the series a shot know about her.

- She's not an alternate Gwen Stacy, despite her design's origins being from the 'Gwen version of heroes' cover event Marvel did. Her real name is Gwen Poole.
- Hence, she's also not connected to Deadpool (hell, she mentions that she doesn't even like his brand of humor all that much) - the name and costume come from her getting a costume made on the quick by a tailor who thought her name (Gwen Poole) was actually her superhero name (Gwenpool), and given all the guys running around in Deadpool costumes at the time (the Mercs for Money), just rolled with it.
- Her fourth-wall humor, likewise, isn't the same as Deadpool's, because hers is intentionally meta, due to being a comics reader from (an approximation of) the real world. It's a lot less "hey, this reminds me of issue number 77, remember that?" and a lot more "because of how comics works, I can actually call out this backgrounder's name and it'll give them a certain amount of protection from the events currently happening because now they're a recurring character". So a hell of a lot less 'let's be wacky because we're Deadpool!'

I'm sad that the book is ending (yes, ending - unlike the other books coming to a close soon, the writer hasn't actually said the book was cancelled, AND it's closing out on #25, a milestone issue, not some random mid-run issue, not to mention that it's actually getting an ending, for pete's sake), but it was an actually fun comic, which is in such short supply in a comic industry. It was parody like "The Orville" is a parody of Star Trek (IE in a way that's more loving than lambasting), had serious stakes, character growth, a relatable protagonist when you actually read about her backstory and motivations, and... Jesus Christ, it had Batroc as a regular supporting character. A longtime jobber actually getting some spotlight outside of a single Captain America story! How about that, huh?

I don't think Gwenpool failed, tbh, because it made it to the two-year mark, which a lot of comics right now, especially Marvel books and definitely new-character Marvel books, can't seem to get to. Which means it found an audience who loved it long enough for Marvel to give it a sendoff, rather than a mid-run cut. We're losing a number of books with more established titles and characters, some before they even hit their first/second year mark, but Gwenpool did something right enough for Marvel to keep it around until a proper finishing point. So that's gotta count for a lot.

W-o-o-o-w. Lotta ignorance of the character here. I'm not going to try and sway you, since your mind is already made up, but I am gonna nitpick one point here.

Gwen has as much reason to be in a Spider-Man wave as Misty Knight, or White Tiger, Daredevil, Moon Knight, or Ghost Rider. Or Ares in a Thor wave. or Death's Head II in a GotG wave (Hell, more reason than that last one). She's interacted with Deadpool on one, maybe two instances, while she's had a number of stories with Miles Morales, both in her own book and over in Champions (maybe more, I don't know) Heck, the lines seem to be tailored to certain characters - Spider-Man waves often also include street-level and non-Avengers characters (though now that we're getting some Defenders/Marvel Knights waves, that may change a bit), GotG waves often include general cosmic characters, X-Men waves can include pretty much anyone under the mighty mutant umbrella (unless they're anchored to a different hero/title), etc etc.

And worthless gimmick, huh? She got a figure, and Spider-Ham is still in action figure limbo. Go figure. But hey, either way, here's an idea - we know you don't like a lot of the newer characters. Like, we all know. So just avoid them, and avoid the conversations about them, and it'll relieve everyone of a ton of stress, huh? It's like I already posted, "It's okay to not like things, just don't be a dick about it."

And please, don't use the word bimbo. It's just not cool. It's really not. Grow up a little.

Not sure why you felt the need to turn into a SJW, but he was asking why people hated Gwenpool. I was telling him why I hate Gwenpool. I didn't know needing a PhD in Comixology was neccessary to explain why you hate a character.

And I will call characters I don't like whatever name I want.

BTW, I never said I was happy with characters like White Tiger and Misty Knight being in Spider-Man waves. In fact, I think it was down right stupid for Ares to be in a Thor wave when they could have given us some real Norse gods or a comic version of Loki.

Oh, and I don't really want a Spider-Ham figure, but he is far more important to the Spider-verse than some girl cosplaying as Deadpool. I didn't see her fighting Morlun and his family, did you?

Parademon1 01-08-2018 10:32 PM

Why is everything so confrontational? Lol it’s like people can’t have opinions

It's impossible to stop someone having an opinion, the idea it is somehow not allowed is absurd. But if you can't back it with argument and facts its worthless. If you (royal you, not you personally) are going to gleefully admit you stopped reading Marvel comics a decade ago, or have never read a specific comic you are complaining about, I'm not going to take your opinions on modern Marvel comics or that specific comic seriously because you've already admitted ignorance of the subject matter.
I'm not trying to call you out or anything Tim, you're certainly right that it shouldn't be this confrontational. Boy Blunder wrote an excellent, articulate defense of Gwenpool and so far the reaction to it from certain people has been pointlessly aggressive. To put it politely.

Boy Blunder 01-09-2018 12:42 AM

Sometimes I forget that some people just wanna live in their own tiny world and don't want to leave. Spout off nonsense and uninformed statements and insulting language where they can't be called on it. Ah well. :p

So, I stopped into a Target this morning, and they're starting a toy section reset. They'd gotten into the Legos while I was there, so they hadn't reset the action figures yet. But I assume that, once they do, there'll be a lot more Black Panther figures up there.
