I like to rotate stuff through display. That could be the past years collection. One must remember that there is only so much space on a desk.
Anyway to the stuff that really matters. How about a 12 inch Sentinel packaged wither a newer Logan using the Old Man Logan body with the Wolverine unmasked head from the vintage repainted to match Days of Future Past?

Dr Kain 01-13-2018 11:31 PM

There is no way that box is 3 feet tall. If it was, it would be 2/3rds the size of that cabinet.

I'll take the 200 dollars it will cost me pick up a couple more Toybiz ones that will actually fit on myself.

Besides, I already have a three foot tall destroyer of mutant toys caught out in the open roaming the halls of my house. It's called my 3 year old son...

Looking at the image of the cubicle, I don't think we'll have to worry about the Sentinel being 3 feet tall. The electronic Mjolnir sitting beside the box is reported at being 19.75 inches in length. With it resting at an angle, I'd rough estimate the box to be 22-25 inches, maybe.

Now, when it comes down to that other lil destroyer...you're on your own!!:p

snake5289 01-14-2018 12:02 AM

Who's to say that the Sentinel isn't in pieces inside the box? It probably isn't but you never know.

Bo Ttef 01-14-2018 12:04 AM

I think the 3ft sentinel idea just came from someone thinking "marvel legends must be a 6in scale sentinel" and not that the 4in Marvel Universe line is also called Legends now. But who knows- we'll find out eventually. :)

Parademon1 01-14-2018 12:15 AM

Big pass if it's just a re-release of the one we got like 7-8 yrs ago. Hasbro has improved leaps & bounds with the ML line compared to when they 1st took over. It would be a huge step backwards if they cheaper out. With just re-releasing an old figure that is also outdated in terms of sculpt & articulation.

kylactus 01-14-2018 12:18 AM

It’s BS, or a mock up. Look in the lower left hand corner of the box... plus no Hasbro markings on the front... shady as hell. Plus there is no depth to the box, and when’s the last time Hasbro didn’t use a window box in favor of art?

Parademon1 01-14-2018 12:28 AM

For the MU Sentinels/ wolvy gigantic battles package they used box art as well.

Several times...with their G.I.Joe vs Transformers SDCC Exclusives. All three used boxes that were reminiscent to classic comic book covers, and each of them had no window panes to view the toy inside. Although, to be fair, since they were largely G.I.Joe vehicles being re-purposed in Transformers deco, most of them were un-assembled in the box, and would have made a dull window viewing.

I have no idea where the 3 foot tall Sentinel thing came from...just someone mentioned it on Facebook and suddenly, it spread like crazy. Could be a mock up, or some guy in marketing was bored and made a project. Will find out eventually, as I'm sure SOMEONE will be pressuring Hasbro for an answer soon, especially with Toy Fair around the corner.

jwyss234 01-14-2018 01:29 AM

Glad to see that Hasbro is releasing another Sentinel. I sold my MU Sentinel about a year before the Juggernaut wave was announced when my interest in X-Men was at an all time low. I’ve thought about buying another on eBay but always held off.

Those would be easy changes to make actually. The Marvel Universe Sentinel’s “chest” was a soft plastic overlay so that Hasbro could share the mold with Galactus without having to completely redo the torso and the electronics inside. The head would be the only solid piece they would have to resculpt.

My MU Galactus is roughly the same size and my Neca 1/4 scale Batman figures which are 18” tall. So a box that’s around 22-25 inches tall would be about right for the old MU Sentinel.

The Defenders box set which came out 2 months ago.
The A-Force box set (another TRU exclusive) which came out last summer.
The All New X-Men box set.
The original boxes for the Marvel Universe Galactus and Sentinel.

Probably a couple others that I’m forgeting about.

Those boxes were all window boxes. They displayed art, but had flaps that opened up showing off the figure(s) inside.

The one in question (DoFP Sentinel/Wolverine) does not have a visible opening flap, which is what is causing a lot of the debate over whether it is a mock up, or if it is a piece of custom work.

Hasbro has done non window boxes in that size favoring artwork over showing off the actual toy inside (the SDCC G.IJoe/Transformers crossovers I mentioned) but I don't believe they have with any of their Marvel selections thus far.

In my personal opinion, the box is a red herring, a project they are most likely on the fence about, and it was placed there purposely by Hasbro R&D because they knew that would be some eagle-eyed toy geek that would spot it. From there, they can check social media and message boards to garner one's interest. While many of us have clamored for a new Sentinel for years, it's likely to be an expensive piece, and ultimately it's a gamble on Hasbro's part. I'm sure that Hasbro would like to avoid the debacle they had with the Black Series TIE Fighter, which was cool as hell but also carried an outrageous pricetag, which I'm sure stifled sales and eventually forced it to end up on clearance shelves as retailers became desperate to clear space for new product.

As others have already responded to the "box art vs window" thing, I'm gonna address the Hasbro logo thing: there is one. It's on the bottom right corner of the box. You can kinda see it in the zoomed-out view, and you can get a better look at it if you watch the video and pause on one of the frames where the whole box is in view and larger than the other two closer-ups that were posted here.

LOL, that wouldn't sell, unless you mean like a BAF, i thought of those Toybiz x-men stands you could get, like the one that came with the series 5 classic colossus figure. despite that i have said that before about different items...

anyway 3feet is 36 inches according to google , which i highly doubt it will be considering that thor's hammer is close to 20 inches tall,if someone has knows a better accurate measurement feel free to correct me. it might be the same height as the old toy biz sentinel. Or as someone state a re-release of the MU sentinel which would be a buzz kill

This sentinel would have to be on par with the toybiz sentinel for me to get it, unless it has something like a master mold head on it then i might consider it , but cant wait to hear more.

Guardians of the galaxy box set :)

Spyne98 01-14-2018 08:38 AM

Woke up to the news of a new Sentinel. 3 feet seems a bit unlikely, but I would happily take a new one in general. I have 5 or 6 of the Marvel U ones, but still cool that a new one is coming.

hasbroherofan 01-14-2018 09:09 AM

Yeah 3 feet would be excessive. I'm also skeptical of Hasbro committing to the level of paint apps and new sculpting that'd go into a figure that size. It's why I'm thinking it's probably just a rerelease of the Masterpiece Sentinel (sans electronics) or perhaps a new figure but using the 12 inch Legends as a base.

...Hmm, I just thought of something, but could it be a rerelease of the original Sentinel BAF? Hasbro has reused ToyBiz's molds before (Kang, Red Hulk wave Wolverine, MCU Hulk, Icons Wolverine, Skrull, Silver Surfer, Mac Gargan Venom), so I wonder if it's possible.

Captain Nash 01-14-2018 09:17 AM

I'm hesitant on that Sentinel. If it's a reuse of the one from a few years ago I may get because I never did get that one (the only one I have is the BAF one and somewhere in some box the 90's one.) If it's a new one, I'd have to see, if articulation is good or scale is good. Of course, this could just be a mock up, but I kind of hope not, as a BAF was something I thought they might do, but over two waves instead of one to give us more BAF pieces. This would take care of that problem.

Kirathis 01-14-2018 09:30 AM

Hmm, I actually think it does look like one of the aforementioned window boxes. The top left corner looks like a separation between the box and the cover flap. Just looked at a couple of the other set boxes and they all look like that. Nearly flush with the front but with a small corner on the top left where you can see the white backing of the board. I also agree with Jeddostle that there is a Hasbro logo in the bottom right corner. Whether this is legit or a mock-up remains to be seen but I would say it looks like a taller version of some of the boxes we have received for exclusive sets over the last couple of years.

TheBlueMarvel 01-14-2018 09:46 AM

@Hasbro

I agree that Hasbro has reused more than a couple Toy Biz sculpts; some of the ones you mention, the Bullseye mold, 1st appearance Punisher mold, etc have been re-purposed for a number of figures. However, specific to the point of mold reuse, I'm pretty sure that Scorpion Venom is all Hasbro as is (if were talking about the first Ruffalo MCU Hulk) the Walmart Exclusive Avengers Hulk (which happens to be my favorite Ruffalo Hulk).

Not trying to be persnickety, or pugnacious. I just read what you said and thought, "oh, wait." I could also be wrong, it gets fuzzy when you've been collecting this stuff for a protracted period of time...

...about the topic at hand, if true, I actually expect Hasbro to NOT re-invent the wheel and go the re-issue route...although I'd prefer otherwise.

@Kirathis

Agreed, many of the box-sets had slipcases over window boxes. I wouldn't use that to rule out the authenticity of this box...

I assumed he was referring to the Ed Norton Hulk that reused the Toybiz series 1 ape-arm Hulk body :D

Oh, my stars and garters...I'd nearly (until you mentioned it) forgotten that fig. Yeah, I remember seeing that fig and thinking that was an error in judgement on Hasbro's part. Not that I disliked that series 1 Hulk. It was just dated, even at that early juncture in Hasbro's tenure...

You're 100 percent correct. The scorpion stinger Venom was indeed all Hasbro, but I actually meant the jaw slash Venom, who was a repaint of one of ToyBiz's old Eddie Brock Venoms.

https://i.pinimg.com/236x/50/a7/f5/5...ider-venom.jpg

And yes, as Black Arbor said I was talking about the Incredible Hulk movie. Totally understandable confusion given how many MCU Hulks Hasbro has put out at this point.

TheBlueMarvel 01-14-2018 11:06 AM

@Hasbro

Ah, yes. The Thunderbolts Venom attempt. Got you now...also, I was thrown by "MCU." That Hulk movie was a Marvel Studios production/work, but not securely figured into their catalog of films..or is it? I don't really know not being a huge MCU guy...anyway, my bust. I thought you meant other figs...

Parademon1 01-14-2018 11:09 AM

I'd rather it's a newly sculpted & better articulated 12' Sentinel with extra accessories such as a battle damaged alternate head, eyebeam effects & apprehension cables ala the TB Sentinels. No more electronic talking Sentinel caca. If it's a re-release of the gigantic battle one, cool, I get to save my $$.

VashTS 01-14-2018 11:23 AM

I think 20 inches is about right. Hasbro will not do a 3 foot sentinel guys.....for mass retail especially.

It's probably around 15-20 inches as the previous sentinels were. I think closer to 20 simply to outdo the previous Toybiz and Hasbro Sentinels, previously released.
