Good Lord, everyone jumped on this like crazy.

I'm curious too, but I'm gonna wait until we know more from an official source, instead of going bugnuts :D

I rather hope it isn't a rerelease of the MU one since that one has some rather odd design choices that were leftovers from the original use of the body (Galactus) Maybe if they tooled new parts for it I could warm up to the idea

The safe bet is a re-release with slightly different paints and no electronics and possibly extra head sculpt since the original MAsterworks was easy to pop on and off.

I gather a new rubber chest piece with the same sentinel base is probably what is being planned as it is the cheapest solution or rather answer to what is in the box.

Another option is a re-tooled 20 inch Galactus with Sentinel pieces.I am not sure if the proportions would work, but I think that is another option for Hasbro on this.

Ah, yes. The Thunderbolts Venom attempt. Got you now...also, I was thrown by "MCU." That Hulk movie was a Marvel Studios production/work, but not securely figured into their catalog of films..or is it? I don't really know not being a huge MCU guy...anyway, my bust. I thought you meant other figs...

The Incredible Hulk is a part of the MCU but it's one that isn't really referenced in any of the following movies. William Hurt plays Thaddeus Ross in The Incredible Hulk and Civil War, him being a General in the former and Secretary of Defense in the latter. RDJ also makes an appearance as Tony Stark at the end of the movie to talk to Ross about the Avengers.

Ok, thanks. I guess it's not normally referred to because it was distributed by Universal, not Disney...

...on a somewhat related note, bring back Eric Bana! ;)

lol...you sound like you may be a bigger fan than I!

jwyss234 01-14-2018 02:37 PM

I think it has more to do with the bad working relationship between the two companies while making The Incredible Hulk than simple distribution rights.

snake5289 01-14-2018 02:41 PM

They also mention the fight with Abomination in Avengers when Banner says the last time he was in New York he broke Harlem. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Sucks that Incredible Hulk is treated like the red-haired stepchild of the MCU because it's easily one of my favorites.

Or clone bill bixby. ;)

TheBlueMarvel 01-14-2018 02:52 PM

@jwyss

Oh, yeah? Meh, I really don't do movie studio corporate drama. It's enough that I'm vaguely aware of who made the movie, let alone being bothered with contractual rights or box-office milestones. I have friends that follow that stuff as if they were paid to. Even allowing metrics and behind the scenes politicizing sway their opinion of a film before it even airs. If that's their thing, wonderful. My first investment will always be the books and characters, followed very closely (almost hand in hand) by the canon figures, then cartoons, with flicks pulling up the rear by a considerable margin. At the end of the day, whoever's making it, who all is in it, and how well it's received by the body public is nearly meaningless to me. All I care about is do I find the movie generally appealing and is it an appropriate interpretation of the character in question.

jmurray90720 01-14-2018 03:31 PM

Eric Bana Hulk was the WOOOOORRRSSSSSSTTTT.

Without a doubt, but then again Ang Lee butchered that movie in every conceivable way you can imagine.

Who's to say that the Sentinel isn't in pieces inside the box? It probably isn't but you never know.

It should be worth noting that Hasbro packages it's Titan Class Transformers that way, with an arm or leg that needs attached once you remove the toy from the box.

However, those toys are also only around two feet tall, I can't realistically see Hasbro make a Marvel Legend toy that was taller than that.

Yeah, it's definitely a crap shoot at this point. I'm just excited by the possibilities that this could open for the line. I'd love to start getting larger scaled figures throughout the year, without resorting to BAFs every-time. This could potentially be that start of that. Kinda cool, if everything turns out legit.

Went to my drawer of infinite heads and one was in there...
that head looks SOOOOO much better on this comic Widow.
Sometimes it's the simplest things...
I only picked up this Widow yesterday.(and very happy with it..my only purchase from that Vintage Line) ...but what kinda shitty plastic are her guns made out of...

I believe they packaged the Groot BAF this way as well.

i agree. The Incredible Hulk is one of my favorite movies. Plus i like the idea of a 'Fugitive/Jason Bourne' type Banner.

The fact that they were clearly going for a similar vibe as the old TV show is what made it so good.

Yeah I'm okay with this. Nobody's done the "Don't make me angry..." line better than Bixby.

EvilMonkeyPope 01-15-2018 05:17 PM

I don't understand why there's a movie Shuri for the non-ML line but not ML or why comics ML Shuri has an obviously recycled X-Men belt.

Because it was cheaper that way.

A MCU ML Shuri would have required a whole new sculpt, along with a new digitized print/scan for the face, while the comic Shuri required little more than a new cape and some paint. That's it. There was no newly sculpted parts on the figure. In addition, we got Klaw out of it, who also literally was nothing more than a brand new headsculpt and right arm. Outside the head, and a little tiny bit of the weapon arm, there is no paint apps on the figure body. Cost Hasbro pennies to make, and yet they turn around and sell it in a exclusive two pack for maximum profit.

I'm not a fan of the idea either, but it's what's they do.

To be entirely fair, Klaw also has a little bit of paint on the lower torso and thighs ;)

EvilMonkeyPope 01-15-2018 05:46 PM

But if they made a digital scan of MCU Shuri for the basic line, why not use it for ML too? Otherwise wouldn't it be more economical to just make a basic Nakia?
