I think the contents will be great, for the most part (digging the Lady Deadpool, even if I'm not anything close to a fan of her), but I'm kind of exasperated at Hasbro branding it 'Deadpool' when it's probably gonna be half-full of characters that could also go in an X-Men-branded wave.

I mean, I'm all about supporting any mutant releases Hasbro does, but... I guess it just kinda rubs me the wrong way, as a longtime X-fan who's been watching the ups and downs of Marvel's mutant marketing for the past few years.

On the other hand, if we're only getting one official X-Men wave per year, having more Deadpool waves in addition to that helps to give us some characters we might not have otherwise. To me, the more the merrier, but I get what you're saying.

My biggest gripe would have been if the Deadpool wave had been the X-men wave for 2018. Fortunately that did not happen.

Harbinger 01-29-2018 10:27 AM

They could brand it nancy rubber baby buggy bumpers wave for all i care.....JUST GIVE ME MY DAMN OMEGA RED ALREADY! :D

Trivial Psychic 01-29-2018 11:04 AM

I just said it there...so I'll say it here too...

I'm rather surprised that there wasn't any Titan figures or children's role play items for DP until now, but man...Hasbro is REALLY jumping the shark on these Legends figures. I had a feeling that we would receive a comedy themed "X-Men" uniform DP, but that thing looks like one of those head swapped figures that people on eBay charge laughable prices for, claiming it's a "custom work of art." It's hideous, and looks like it came out of the toy aisle from your local Dollar Tree.

They should have just done DP in Marvel Girl's dress, if comedy DP was what they were going for. Hasbro gets a no prize for the lack of creativity...

If it weren't that I'm trying to gain some uniformity in size, I would stick to my classic ToyBiz Omega Red. That new one there is really ugly and underwhelming. The ToyBiz one is just too damn big when compared to other modern Legends though (even though the tentacles rock,) so I'll most likely be grabbing this one. Depends how I feel when I see them in hand.

All-New Wolverine is a must!

I've tried to be more cautious about what I read over there, but regardless, passing this along. Please treat as rumor for now. :

So far Fwoosh has been very on point with rumors this year. They accurately leaked the Black Panther, Lizard and Ragnarok waves well in advance.

Interesting that Ant-Man and Wasp seem to have been folded into the line.

Holy crap, I looooooved "action figure with accessories MVL" in that movie, you know, the one with the guy and the thing and the poorly fleshed-out villain? :D

I think it's a matter of trying not to have too many waves, maybe? I know BP wave started hitting shelves in December but it was technically a 2018 wave. Then two Avengers waves, an X-Men wave, now two Deadpool waves and 2 Spider-Man waves...that's 8 waves...then if they do a Netflix or another Vintage wave...at some point it's just too much, even if it is of a good thing.

Except it's getting to the point, that, at least for me, it's turning out more of things that aren't so good. Repetition, obscure variants, etc...rant aside, I think that trying to add yet another wave for Ant-Man would be pushing it, shelf space, production, distribution and consumer wallet wise. I feel like when they started doing 7 waves a year it was when it started to be a problem, not sure if that was 2015 or 2016? I think 8 is going to be hell and more than that just ridiculous.

hasbroherofan 01-29-2018 12:03 PM

I think it might have something to do with the fact that the first Ant-Man movie wave was a massive pegwarmer. Which, to be fair, should be expected given it was like, one actual character from the movies and then Giant-Man, Wasp and a few C-list villains who have nothing to do with Ant-Man.

We know Hasbro loves these odd codenames for MCU figures for some reason.

That also. :p And it's not like there were any "major names" in the wave to help it sell, even if hard core collectors didn't need a 46th Iron Man, it's still big name recognition for casual buyers. It had none of that.

My wife is probably going to divorce me this year with all these Legends coming out.

Just build a new wing for the house. Problem solved.

warmachine6 01-29-2018 12:45 PM

That feels like a weak wave for me to be honest , might get Thor varying on what he looks like. I need an updated one.

It matches the appearance Deadpool had in the comics from when he wore that costume perfectly, including the shotgun, so how is that less creative than every other Legend figure ever?

Boy Blunder 01-29-2018 01:27 PM

Man, I'm glad I'm never going to understand what it's like to have someone hold your hobby against you.*

*Unfortunately, it means that, as a couple, you're even more in the crapper, finances-wise, when you're both collectors :D

Tomax 01-29-2018 01:53 PM

My wife is cool with it honestly. She has her thing and I have mine. Fortunately I win both ways, because her thing is tattoos...

Hasn't there been a rumor of a Venom wave as well? IF so that would be 9 waves...doubt there would be anything I'd want in it myself, but for fans of what could be coming in it, or completionists, this year is shaping up to be ridiculously expensive.

Ironically I'm looking at maybe a total of 25 figures not including if the SDCC is good, and if there's any X-Men/ALpha Flight/Thunderbolts/New Warriors box sets released to retail as well. Which, there's not been any rumors, but one never knows.

Nothing wrong with that...with Hardy accidentally leaking Carnage as the villain, that means we will get a another Carnage figure or 2!

Dr Kain 01-29-2018 02:52 PM

Omega Red looks cool, but do we seriously need a female version of DP and a DP in a stupid looking costume? I pray to the gods the BAF is something I don't care about.
