I was hoping for a 5 poa bvs line, more store exclusives (like the SA black exclusives for walmart) or the dcc unreleased 3.75 line.
Time to invest in a 3d printer?

How would a 3D printer help? Are the sculpts available online to print or something?

Perhaps he knows how to design his own sculpts in a program and can create his own figures. If I had the technical know how I know I'd probly just make my own figs.

That's pretty badass. Now that I think of it, if you were talented enough to design a really detailed figure would it be as easy as designing it in a program and printing it?

From the little I've heard about these 3dd printer yea it just designing it in a program and working out what u want and printing it up. I assume for more articulation you'd have to make each piece separately. And also have seen that with a 3d scanner it may be possible to use items like say a storm trooper arm and scan it and print copies. Not easy and very time consuming plus expensive, but The possibilities could be fun

Yeah, you would also need to cast molds for the parts so that you can make new ones with soft enough plastic that joints can connect together and hands can hold weapons, etc. I have designed weapons using Sketchup and used the Shapeways online 3D printing service, but I do not have enough skill yet to design body parts using sketchup, which isn't really optimized for that type of design work. It's pretty pricey to print a complete figure this way, but I recommend trying out a 3D printing company with a couple parts before shelling out a load of dough to find out that it is too hard to design and print with your own newly purchased 3D printer. Disclaimer: Not all 3D printers are capable of the detail required for 1/18 scale figures and their accessories. I have been researching this for quite some time, and through trial and error have designed and ordered parts using both plastic extrusion and stereolithographic printers. I found that the more common plastic extrusion printers can't provide the detail the 1/18 scale requires, however stereolithographic printers can do the job well, but there aren't nearly as many affordable options.

is dc collectibles out of the 3.75 game as well? they haven't released anything since the batman/joker set.

remember when they ran a poll asking which line would we like to see most? one of the choices was a new 52 3.75 line. whatever happened with that? did rainbow batmen win? ugh!

Actually, I think he did... :(

Il Cattivo 10-13-2015 08:40 AM

damn, people actually freaking voted for that over the new 52 3.75 line? wow...

snake5289 10-13-2015 08:43 AM

Well that just blows.

Autobot_Goldbug 10-13-2015 05:56 PM

No they won.
It was just to gauge interest.
They never said what they were going to do after the results.
I think it is still up even.

Psycho Pirate 10-13-2015 11:29 PM

3.75" did win the poll with 42% of the vote. Rainbow Batmen was 2nd with 32%.

The latest word from DCC in August:

Jeff Cope asks if we have plans to continue the 3 ¾ inch action figure line based on the poll that we held earlier this year.

While we don’t have those figures on the schedule right now, we are still very interested in that scale. Currently, we are focusing on 6 inch and 6 ¾ inch scale, but hope to keep expanding our lines in the future.

vindowviper 10-14-2015 06:38 AM

Good thing the poll came out better than when I last saw it. I wish they would take 3.75 inch scale seriously, though.

kylactus 10-14-2015 06:55 AM

I hope they hire Vonner, and give us a MU compatible line, with a batmoble and a huge bat cave.

I think they are missing a golden opportunity with the downfall of MU.

If they moved to a similar scale and design I think they could make some serious waves. I have seen the DC figs move here but I think they would have better luck with running batches with variants (i.e. run half in one color scheme, half in another). They could make some collectors double up if they had, for example, a white suit and black suit Black mask available in the same release. Same for a Red and a Blue Az-Bats. The list goes on and on. I would even take a hooded masked and non-hooded masked Red Hood on separate cards. Spice it up a bit in a single release cycle.

So ideas (some based on current Multi-Verse line, some not):
New 52 Superman/Black Suit Superman (all same mold)
Batman (they already do this with...)
Mutli-helmet options for Red Hood
White Suit/Black Suit Black Mask
Purple Suit/Black Suit/White Suit, etc. Joker
Blue/Red Az-Bats
White/Black Azrael
Hooded/Un-hooded Robin
Regular scheme/All Black Death-Stroke
Green/Red/White/Yellow Green Lantern
Black Lantern of any (Zombie heads would rock)

So many options....So many ways to take my money...

snake5289 10-14-2015 11:44 AM

I know there's a few I'd love to have to go with the Injustice figures I have. Like Shazam to go with Black Adam, Black Manta/Mera to go with Aquaman, and Zoom to go with Flash. Is the Hal Jordan from the GL two-packs a risk? I'd love to get him but not if he's going to break after opening him.

Quick side-note since I mentioned it I ended up liking that Aquaman a lot more than I thought I would. The promo picture made him look really awkward.

I totally would buy Black Manta, Mera, and Captain Marvel. The top well articulated figures I'd like to see right now are New 52 Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Sinestro (yellow lantern), Riddler, Huntress, and Black Canary.

No problems with my 3.75 Hal Jordan. Buy him! For all of the Green Lantern and Injustice figures, I used a hair dryer and silicon lubricant to make sure the joints move smoothly and do not bind and then break. Wonder Woman's left shoulder and Batman's left leg have been the only problems.

snake5289 10-14-2015 01:58 PM

Martian Manhunter, Sinestro, and Wonder Woman are a few I'd buy in a second. And I think I am going to go ahead and get the Hal pack. Would've been cooler if he came with Sinestro or Atrocitus but I like Saint Walker too.

The only breakage problem I had was with Injustice Catwoman. Aquaman was a little stuck but I got him moving eventually with no problem.

kylactus 10-14-2015 04:26 PM

if they made a line comparable to MU I'd go compleationist on it. the only thing that kept me off crises and multiverse was the scale difference in that and MU. the larger toy companies should get on the same page for scaling, it's beneficial to both companies because of cross genera displays and collection possibilities. I can't stand stuff being out of scale in the same display it makes my OCD tingle. but if Mattel made a DCU line clone MU, just with DC characters, I'd have to get them all. and extras for a Marvel VS DC 90's display.

That would be so friggin awesome. Seems like 3.75" stuff is going bye bye for a while, which is good for me ole wallet.

snake5289 10-14-2015 05:02 PM

I can agree with that. Leaves me more $$$ for books and movies.

The movie figures like the Chris Reeve Superman and Keaton Batman actually scale well with MU. Keaton Batman is almost MU worthy, in my book.

vindowviper 10-15-2015 07:34 AM

They might not scale as well with MU, but newer GI Joes don't even scale well with the older ones, and that is the same property. I had to completely abandon all old Joes when the new figures came out. They just didn't work. So, the scale problem is annoying, but not nearly as bad as what hasbro did with GI Joe, considering even new foot pegs and new figures didn't even fit in many of the old vehicles (gold head Destro and the old Despoiler come to mind). Right now, the only figure that I really have trouble justifying is injustice Superman. It's a cool figure, once you cut the cape from the emblem, but he is way too small next to even Multiverse Batman. I'm stuck with Microman Superman until either I make a custom or a new figure comes out.

snake5289 10-15-2015 07:53 AM

Yeah I know what you mean. Injustice Superman is great but is so tiny. I'm using a Man of Steel Superman. Not the greatest in terms of articulation but it works.

Also I found the Hal/Saint Walker and John/Atrocitus two-packs on Amazon for under $25 each so I'm gonna order them tomorrow. Can't wait because I love all four characters. May get the Guy/Larfleeze pack (I saw one for under $15) but I'm not sure about the three-pack. If Sinestro wasn't a GL I'd get it in a heartbeat. I guess I could try and paint it but it'd be a pain in the ass. Wish the Kyle/Kilowog pack wasn't so ridiculous because Kilowog is awesome.

I haven't yet, I've just started playing with so e of thr programs. But remember 20 years ago I had never made a cd, did and had to pay someone to draw me maps for games.
The fact is that 3d scanners and printers are really starting to enter the price range to allow them to be viable at home.
Do I know how to use them? No. But at one time I didn't know how to use photoshop either and my printer could only print low resolution pics anyways.
Maybe the home materials and detail aren't there yet. They will be.

MUfan97 10-15-2015 05:11 PM

For all the people talking about the lack of a nicely scaled Superman, I think the Multiverse Christopher Reeve Superman is great.
