My Targets for like 2 or 3 days a week has the first hour of the store open only for elderly people... like you can't even get in the store unless you look over 65ish. I always wonder if their are scalpers or hardcore collectors that would try to disguise themselves as older folk to get to the toy aisle before everyone else if popfindr says there is a Baronnes in the store.

I walked into Target around 11am last Wednesday and got a Baroness. It really depends where you are more than anything, but in time these will hit saturation and people will wonder what all of the hoopla was about.

^ IMO Hasbro are always weird when it comes to Joes in particular though... they seem to make less Joes than all their other brands for some reason. If they don't re-release Baroness she might end up really hard to find.

Ha ha. People at Hisstank also talked about that, and someone did mentioned that they saw some pretty healthy people walking out of Target during that hour with GIJoes. Turns out, high blood pressure is on the list of "endangered group", just tell that to the person guarding the door and they'd let you in. And who doesn't have high blood pressure especially among the group that are hunting for GIJoes?!? Even if you don't, after all the frustration with Target, you'd have high blood pressure by now!

I agree with you, and I hope so. I stopped hunting Cobra Troopers after I found my 2, so others would have their chances, but I really wouldn't mind a few more Cobra Troopers myself. However, given the recent track record with Target exclusives (Carbonized Mandalorian, Red Hulk, NECA TMNT, etc.), I think that fuels the fire and make people hunt for these even more vigorously, just in case Target history repeats itself.

Well the most recent exclusive insanity was the Skywarp and Thundercracker 2 pack, and two months ago Transformers fans were screaming bloody murder because stores didn't have them and they were selling out in under a minute online. But now stores have a ton of them and are available online in bulk.

So I have my doubts that the Troopers, who come in their own case of 6, will be flying out of stock forever. Plus there will be more Troopers of different varieties available through other means over time, same with Baroness who I'm fairly confident will likely get a single pack release down the road alongside a non-artic Storm Shadow as well.

All of this bs is just more reasons why exclusives are a bad bad idea. Hell anymore they dont even reach the floor, just go straight into the hands of dirtbag scalpers.

For every Skywarp and Thundercracker argument, there's a Carbonized Mandalorian, Red Hulk, NECA TMNT counter-argument. I'm pretty sure all Target Exclusives come in their own cases, but yet, there are a lot of unhappy Target exclusives collectors out there. Believe me, I want you to be right! But only time will tell. The question is, do you want to roll that dice? As evident by the craze, most GIJoe collectors don't. Myself included.

As for variants for the troopers and Baroness, that's a given. GIJoe's been doing that since 1982. There will be Python Patrol, Tiger Force, Night Force, etc. I think everyone know this, but we also know that this Target Exclusive wave will just be different enough that it'll bug you not to have one if you're a collector. Even now, people are hunting blue eye and brown eye Beach Head variants, and Cobra Trooper with blue or black collars. That's just the nature of the game.

Is it really dirtbag scalpers, though, or just other collectors? I mean two things can be true, but I think a lot of the issues are based on perception backed up by a lot of extreme cases of FOMO. And as it is, I highly doubt these figures would be less sought after if Wal-Mart carried them, too, I think they would still be selling out.

Also today I ran into another Baroness, in the afternoon, and on the shelf. I know I'm not that lucky, so I think these are just starting to become easier to get (it just takes time).


I getcha, but some of those other counter arguments have a reason why they were harder to find. Mando was a hot item because he was like both the first release from the hottest new show from Star Wars and was a bit limited because after a few lackluster years for the brand I don't think Hasbro predicted that demand. Red Hulk is only in demand because I literally think Hasbro didn't fully release the figure, especially when all of the Black Widow exclusives were so plentiful at Target that they hit clearance (Plus I don't think he ever actually had a shelf space in store, which leads me to believe more are to come and they may be sitting on them for now). And NECA is NECA, that's all you have to say right there.

As for variants, I can see wanting to have slight deco changes like getting retail Snake Eyes in all black alongside the exclusive Pulse version, but otherwise I don't know, it's up to the individual collector how much sleep they want to lose over the eye color of their action figures. I'm in on this line so far, and I can understand the desire to collect every different variant if you're a major Joe fan, but I'm afraid I'm just not that in, so I'd rather focus on getting some Red Ninjas now rather than trying to hunt down another of the same Beach Head with different eyes.

I'm the same. If it's a legit repaint, like Python Patrol or Tiger Force or something, I'd buy it. But I won't waste time with every factory error or running change.

Maybe in your area, but my area first has to actually get Joes to have any instock. It's one of the things holding me back from truly jumping into the line.

Wouldn't be a deal killer for me. I was 6ft away from getting a Baroness today. Guy in front of me snagged it. I was closer than I have been. I got a chance to see it in person for a minute. He did mention that he heard full cases of Cobra Troopers are coming. He heard from a Independent Toy store that got a solicitation from their distributor.

Someone else has actually offered me $40 for just the Baroness itself and since I don't want it due to the plastic defect, I will probably go with that because it allows me to keep the bike for display purposes. Sorry.

I think I will buy myself one though if I come across another as long as it isn't defective like this one.

I've not really given my thoughts on this line. When the rumors started I was interested, but I tried not to get my hopes up. Once they were revealed I was disappointed. I was hoping for the designs to be more vintage inspired rather than the modernized almost video game like look they have . Plus I would have preferred more real world weapons rather than the nerf guns and whatnot. I'm not against the new scale, but the designs and aesthetics they went with on most of them so far just don't do it for me. I don't think it's unreasonable to have expected these figures to be more accurate to their vintage counterparts.

Now I have been watching out for these to appear in stores, on the chance that seeing them in person might change my mind. These figures are almost impossible to find in my area. They must sell out fast. Walmart has only had an empty endcap, and now that's disappeared. I only ever spotted a Roadblock and a Snake Eyes once and they were just thrown on a shelf in the wrong part of the toy section. Target 95% of the time has just had an empty shelf. I saw a beachhead once, and part of wave two. Hardly saw scraps of wave one. It's a joke. I see full pegs of Hasbro's Ghostbusters line on the pegs at both stores every week, but G.I.Joe is nowhere to be found. These must be super popular, very underproduced, or both.

I know there’s a strong Joe collector base in my area. I’ve seen get-togethers posted at LCS. I haven’t seen anything on the shelf in days. I’m giving up on Baroness, no way to snag one when they come in 1-2 at a time.

Last hurrah, I saw two on Popfindr this morning and took a chance that no one beat me to it. Hopefully they start putting more of these on the market, because everyone deserves one of these. She’s a good looking figure on her own. She definitely will have a singles release with an alternate costume soon.

When I went to Target yesterday, the Baroness I missed out on was in a mixed box of items. There were board games and other items in the box. Last week when I was off work and was at a Target, they received 2 cases of Wave 2. Keep looking. Figures are out there.

I was in a Gamestop today and came across a Snake-Eyes, so I decided why the hell not.

Oh, and then I found another Baroness in Target, so I now have myself a Baroness without battle damage.

EDIT: So the good and bad with Snake-Eyes based on my early impressions. The sculpt and articulation are absolutely fantastic. I love the number of accessories he comes with. However, I'm still not a fan of the blades on the swords and knives nor his grenades on his holster not being painted properly. The fact that you can attach a silence to his one gun is pretty awesome, however, his back pack or sword sheath can not stay attached to his back for shit. It's like the capes on Marvel Legends. They just don't stay attached. Then there is that bigger gun which seems to attach nowhere on him despite having a peg for one. Also, I'm not a fan of how loose the holster that goes around his body and his belts are. They get in the way no matter what type of pose I try to do. I know it's accurate to the original figures, but I do wish there had been some color on a few bits of his outfit beyond just the silver on the buckles. It didn't have to be like neon colors, but maybe a light gray would have been nice. I love him and yet am I very whelmed by him. Not overwhelmed or underwhelmed, just whelmed. Something just seems to be lacking that WOW factor for me.
