At the end of the day, comic books are art, which means by their very nature they are open to artist interpretation and there's nothing wrong with that. After all, part of what makes comic books exciting is artists' willingness to bend the rules to make the comic books feel larger than life. Todd McFarlane had to damn near throw human anatomy out the window in order to get some of those more dynamic Spider-Man poses that everybody loves. And yes, this includes making some characters bigger and bulkier to make them more threatening, despite their "official" height.

There's nothing wrong with that. If someone has always seen Thanos to be almost as big as the Hulk (because yes, sometimes he's drawn that way) and wants that kind of scaling for their collection, then so be it. That doesn't make them wrong.

So Marvel & DC should just discard the listed hgts/wgts that they gave to each character that they have ever created & just tell every single artist to draw any character they want as big or as small as they want. Make Wolverine a 7 footer if that's what the artists is feeling. Make Thor 5'5 if that's the mood that artist is in that month. Make the Hulk a 15 footer from now on, like Ang lee did in that POS movie. I mean yeah, obliterate the hgt/wgt chart for these characters. todays artist don't give a crap bout it anyway, not the way artists back in the day did. Eddie Brock was a bodybuilder & 6'3 270lbs, of course he's gonna look huge next to 5'10 160lb Peter Parker. But Todd never drew him gigantic looking like latter artists started doing. Todd drew Venom like a buff bodybuilder.

Which makes the recent Hasbro ML Venom the perfect rendition of the McFarland Venom.

That is where I think marvel vs Capcom did a good job with the scale of characters.

This is also Poison, whom debuted on the Spider-man comics. Thou I doubt they mean her in the Venom wave. Thou i remember she was quite cool. Plus, three females on one wave is not too common.

Hi so I've been collecting Transformers for most of my life but I find the Power of the Primes to be very disappointing and I have just reached a natural stopping point with that collection.

I have decided that since I already have a small collection of Marvel Legends that I am going to start focusing more on that and hopefully it can be a line that I can just casually collect.

Before I really jump in though I know that this line has a very long history and I was just wondering what I should know before hand. Like what figures or eras of figures I should pick up and what to avoid and if there are any good web sites out there that are good resources for collecting this line.

Thanks in advance for any advice and below are a few pictures of my current collection, it isn't much but it's a starting point.

Depends on your budget, available space to store these. Are you both a MCU & Comic book character based fan or just one or the other? Do you intend to buy entire waves or just cherry pick the characters you like? This toy forum is a very excellent way to go back & check out past reviews of anything from just relieved waves to s]waves that were released a few yrs back. You can go to the Marvel websites & do research on any characters you might be interested in.

If that Spidey s 5’10” then that venom is well over 7’.... I’m 5’10” but I don’t have to crink my neck to make eye contact with a 6’3” dude. We’re only talking 5”. But I think the “official” height guides are more or less for us fan boys and as a general guide, not a set in stone bible. Anyone remember Spider-Man and x-force vs juggernaut back in the day? juggernaut was like 27 feet tall in that, but it made for some epic visuals that would not have been the same if SM and a whole crew of trained merc mutants were whipping some moderately tall dude, especially if he were the same size as his first appearance.

Parademon1 02-03-2018 05:42 PM

Really hoping Hasbro is gonna continue with the vintage wave and that if they can not see fit to include a classic Thor into their Avengers infinity waves, then put classic Thor in a Vintage wave. The recent Odinson buck seems like a very good buck to use for classic Thor IMO. But really, a classic Thor is long overdue.

That was because the great Rob Liefeld was "drawing" those issues of X-Force. Hence King Kong Marko. Those Lifeld visuals were far from "epic"

#1. how dare you post here with a DC name...
#2. hang around this forum, read, hang around FB groups..asks questions..it'll all come together in time..
#3. let me have that Beast figure and I'll be your OFFICIAL Marvel Legends virtual guide (comes complete with an official Stan Lee No-Prize)
#4. Parademon irks my nerves more than anyone else on this forum
#5. I like that setup you have with the spider-dudes hanging...pretty cool

kylactus 02-03-2018 06:07 PM

So u think a 6’4” juggernaut would be a realistic threat for a mutant team and Spider-Man? Hell Spidey could web him from a lamp post rendering his powers useless... one panel, done... and yeah, chesty von cap a few pages back was visually disturbing, like an MC Escher class on anatomy, but dude had his moments. I don’t see any paradeamon1 masterworks hangin in the louvre... ya scale queen.

You are a good dude. No way around it my friend.

Parademon1 02-03-2018 06:38 PM

Happy to oblige you MCU polished turd lovers. And Juggernaut is 6'10, not 6'4. He's gone toe to toe with Thor & held his own against the thunder God, let alone a team of young Mutants & Spiderman. You must not know crap about Juggs history/background if you really think he would be a pushover for a lame team like X-force who only had one heavy hitter on the team in Warpath. Seems like a lot of you confuse being a powerhouse with size.

LMDBO!!!

No lie, I'm watching that at this very moment while I'm reading some new information on my boy Coogler. The irony is real.

P.S. cannot wait to add that polished turd to my display.

Size is only helpful for the visuals.. and I though the visuals of a hulk sized Juggs were cool, that is what we call an opinion, follow me so far son? And didn’t your boy get beat by Spidey alone, and spider woman once? Sorry about my 6” error on Juggs height, figured you’d shit your pants on that one lol. You know what you should do man? Get some transparent graph paper, a ruler and a scale, go through every comic ever drawn and report back to us on every size discrepancy.... we’ll wait... seriously get to it, it’ll take a bit. Did you cry when they cast Jackman as wolverine?

Thanks Parademon, I think I'm going to mainly focus on a more comic book style characters but I'll probably still pick up movie characters that will fit in with my collection like that new Black Panther figure still looks like it would fit in with more classic style toys. I am probably going to cherry pick my figures because that is how I collected Transformers but man that build a figure Lizard is tempting, and I already want Mysterio, Prowler and Lasher from that wave.

#1 I'm Riddler87 everywhere else so I have a brand to maintain, but yes I am aware of the irony of using a DC character on a Marvel thread. Marvel Legends has been a strong constant line for over a decade and well I hate Mattel as a toy company and well the DC collectable lines always seem to get cancelled and I couldn't just toss a DC Icons figure in my shopping cart at Target like I can with a Marvel Legends figure. Movies aren't the only thing that Marvel is beating DC in.
#2 Seriously buddy thanks for the advice.
#3 Beast is my favorite Marvel character and I've had this toy ever since it came out so no.
#4 um okay?
#5 thanks

Archangel 02-03-2018 07:28 PM

That’s the laziest Hasbruh been lately with that Venom and Carnage. This is the first time I can say I will easily pass. I’m fine with the two from a while back.

Typically how long dose it take for Dorkside Toys to reply back on an Email? My address is wrong and needs to be corrected but the order will not allow me to change it now as its being processed which happened immediately after placing the order for the Deadpool Wave.
