I wonder which version of TM will they give us? Will it be her 80's hair metal look with the huge shoulder pads? Will it be her more contemporary sexed up bondage/fetish punk with her cut out leather bra and half pant/shorts? Will be that awful Mutant X look? Something more in line with the original ToyBiz Vault figure? I'm stoked for it though, that's for sure. I imagine Scream's hair will probably be a slightly retooled Medusa piece, although, if they just take the one from the original ToyBiz figure and shrink that one down, I would be just fine with that. The wild look on the new Carnage hands though does have me excited though at the possibilities, especially if Hasbro is able to put a little bit of creativity into it. Quote:

Fun Fact...Michelangelo was one of the most renown artists that ever lived, and is largely considered a forefather of the Italian Renaissance, yet even he couldn't sculpt or paint things in scale. Ever see the size of the genitalia on David? Just saying. Quote:
As for resources, there's several. There's the bible known as MarvelLegends.net, which hasn't updated in quite a while, but they're slowly starting to come back. Marvelous News has an EXCELLENT (but somewhat cumbersome to navigate) Database index as well which features both Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe as well as all things Hasbro going back to 2000. Fwoosh is another decent site as well with good reviews and photos, although their forum community is quite toxic in comparison to us ladies & gents here at the Toyark. We are slowly getting to those salt levels, but are still mostly civil. In the end, we can all agree we're passionate about this hobby of ours. Eras of figures to pick up? That largely depends on you. Like Nitelife said, collect what you like. Do some research. MCU, Comic Style, Hasbro, Toybiz, Universe, Funko Pops...there's a ton out there. Characters? Same thing. Grab what interests you. Focus on a singular character, or go for a theme. Some people like mutants. Others, prefer power cosmic. We used to have a regular here who was gaga over Star-Lord. (I wonder what happened to her?) Me? I'm a Spider-Man fan who favors other street level heroes and villains over their galactic and world spanning counterparts. Don't take my word (or anyone else's for that matter.) Find your niche, and explore it, and enjoy. And if someone doesn't like it, swallow that salt, roll your eyes, mutter something unkind under your breath and don't take it personal because truthfully, it ain't worth spending hours of your day arguing over (this has been a recurring theme here lately.) Remember it's your money being spent and not theirs. As long as you do you and are happy with the results, that's all that matters. |
Dork side usually replies next day at the latest. I’ve only had to email them twice once was like an hour for a response, The other was the next morning.
So I’ve been thinking, we’ve got like 26 ish new figs hitting right now, ( although stores near me are still peg warming Loki and Netflix) isn’t this a bit too much at once, it’s early February for god sake, what the hell is the rest of the year going to look like? They can’t possibly put out 2.5 waves per month for the rest of the year right? I’m gonna need to start holding up gas stations at this rate man. Plus it’s going to be a distribution nightmare at brick and mortar! I predict there will be whole waves stores don’t order for lack of room. |

Tax refunds usually spur a lot of impulse buying. Maybe they are trying to get in on that. Too bad I’ve had a couple setbacks that will put me behind on some of these waves. I should get a decent bonus that might get me caught up on this year. |
Maybe necromancy was involved?

Ya know, with so many Daredevil characters in the upcoming Spider themed waves, I'm not completely ruling out Kingpin as the BAF for the Venom series. Spider Ham could come with his entire torso (neck to crotch) just to take up the space in the package.

I'm definitely getting more excited about the possibility of Scream. I hope she doesn't get shorted on all of the extra symbiote-related goodies. I could see this one being a really fun figure. |

As for websites that could help with collecting Marvel Legends, MarvelousNews and MarvelLegends.net could help with older figures but their databases/gallery/checklist or whatever you would like to call them but they haven't been updated in a few years. However, I did find this link to a Marvel Legends wiki that seems up to date so hopefully this will help: Marvel Legends | Marvel Toys Wiki | FANDOM powered by Wikia While there are no pictures, it should give you an idea of who has been released and when. As far as eras go, I would say that if you like what Hasbro is producing right now then you will probably like most figures starting with the Return of Marvel Legends (2012) figures onward. Those first few waves did reuse several ToyzBiz bodies (and not the good ones) but you can find some good figures in those first few waves like Bucky Cap. However, Hasbro really came into their own in 2014 when they started to phase out those old TB bodies and began making their own. If you're interested in ToyBiz Marvel Legends, I would recommend sticking to the earlier waves since TB knew they were going out of business at the end and were focused more on quantity than quality. I would also avoid 99-100% of Hasbro's first Marvel Legends figures. They weren't particularly good and many of them have been replaced over the past couple of years. |

Personally, scaling doesn't bother me, so long as some general rules are kept. Colossus should always tower over most heroes. Wolverine should almost always be the shortest guy in a group. Spider-Man should always be thin and nimble. Getting caught up in the exact, precise scaling is just asking for a headache when not even the artists put that much thought into it. And at the end of the day, it's just an artist's interpretation of a character, it's not a matter of 'right' or 'wrong'. Yes, McFarlane's Venom wasn't more than a buff bodybuilder. But other interpretations wanted to make him more monstrous and alien. That's how they chose to represent the character. That doesn't make them wrong. And this is why I say a scale chart is nice, but that chart has characters in mostly static poses lined up side-by-side. Try to maintain absolutely perfect scaling every single time when you have to mess with perspective, putting characters in different poses, all while working with different angles and making the pages dynamic enough to be interesting. It's damned near impossible, which is why most artists just tend to guesstimate it. |

Venom and Carnage are also always in high demand, it would be a mistake for Hasbro not bring them around once in awhile, especially with Carnage who do to the way that first Spider-Man wave worked wasn't terribly easy to find the first time. Plus I'm sure there are plenty of people who even though they say they won't will still double dip, especially if the BAF is something insanely in high demand like Kingpin (I doubt it, he should be Netflix wave 2 if anything, but who knows?) |
