Regarding character selection for most of the recent waves, it kinda seems like Hasbro has been playing the Marvel Edition of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon...:p

Really looking forward to Typhoid Mary. It'll probably be based off of the more recent design used in the fan-poll, which could be easily re-purposed from the upcoming Punk Storm figure.

Never been a big fan of the symbiotes, but Scream has piqued my interest. Interested to see how Hasbro manages her hair/tendrils. The character is usually depicted with a wild, crazy mane that could really cool in figure form.

I'm still trying to figure out how exactly Typhoid Mary fits into a Venom wave. I honestly can't recall the two of them ever sharing an issue together, outside the "Venomized" cover that they did for Daredevil.

I wonder which version of TM will they give us? Will it be her 80's hair metal look with the huge shoulder pads? Will it be her more contemporary sexed up bondage/fetish punk with her cut out leather bra and half pant/shorts? Will be that awful Mutant X look? Something more in line with the original ToyBiz Vault figure? I'm stoked for it though, that's for sure.

I imagine Scream's hair will probably be a slightly retooled Medusa piece, although, if they just take the one from the original ToyBiz figure and shrink that one down, I would be just fine with that. The wild look on the new Carnage hands though does have me excited though at the possibilities, especially if Hasbro is able to put a little bit of creativity into it.

I suppose, but it's a weaker connection than the Black Bolt/Iron Man/Sub-Mariner link that everyone was so disappointed in with the BP wave. I imagine Spider-Ham would be a smaller figure, so hopefully they'll include the Venom counterpart (Pork Rind I think?) Otherwise, to eBay with you!

Fun Fact...Michelangelo was one of the most renown artists that ever lived, and is largely considered a forefather of the Italian Renaissance, yet even he couldn't sculpt or paint things in scale. Ever see the size of the genitalia on David? Just saying.

Hi so I've been collecting Transformers for most of my life but I find the Power of the Primes to be very disappointing and I have just reached a natural stopping point with that collection.

I have decided that since I already have a small collection of Marvel Legends that I am going to start focusing more on that and hopefully it can be a line that I can just casually collect.

Before I really jump in though I know that this line has a very long history and I was just wondering what I should know before hand. Like what figures or eras of figures I should pick up and what to avoid and if there are any good web sites out there that are good resources for collecting this line.

I hear you with Transformers. I've slowly cut back since the Generations line, and now I'm at the point that unless it's a really outstanding Seeker (as in Scream/Warp/Cracker or their Rainmaker cousins) I won't bite (although finally getting updated Stunticons did bring me back in during CW for a bit.)

As for resources, there's several. There's the bible known as MarvelLegends.net, which hasn't updated in quite a while, but they're slowly starting to come back. Marvelous News has an EXCELLENT (but somewhat cumbersome to navigate) Database index as well which features both Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe as well as all things Hasbro going back to 2000. Fwoosh is another decent site as well with good reviews and photos, although their forum community is quite toxic in comparison to us ladies & gents here at the Toyark. We are slowly getting to those salt levels, but are still mostly civil. In the end, we can all agree we're passionate about this hobby of ours.

Eras of figures to pick up? That largely depends on you. Like Nitelife said, collect what you like. Do some research. MCU, Comic Style, Hasbro, Toybiz, Universe, Funko Pops...there's a ton out there. Characters? Same thing. Grab what interests you. Focus on a singular character, or go for a theme. Some people like mutants. Others, prefer power cosmic. We used to have a regular here who was gaga over Star-Lord. (I wonder what happened to her?) Me? I'm a Spider-Man fan who favors other street level heroes and villains over their galactic and world spanning counterparts.

Don't take my word (or anyone else's for that matter.) Find your niche, and explore it, and enjoy. And if someone doesn't like it, swallow that salt, roll your eyes, mutter something unkind under your breath and don't take it personal because truthfully, it ain't worth spending hours of your day arguing over (this has been a recurring theme here lately.) Remember it's your money being spent and not theirs. As long as you do you and are happy with the results, that's all that matters.

Dork side usually replies next day at the latest. I’ve only had to email them twice once was like an hour for a response, The other was the next morning.

So I’ve been thinking, we’ve got like 26 ish new figs hitting right now, ( although stores near me are still peg warming Loki and Netflix) isn’t this a bit too much at once, it’s early February for god sake, what the hell is the rest of the year going to look like? They can’t possibly put out 2.5 waves per month for the rest of the year right? I’m gonna need to start holding up gas stations at this rate man. Plus it’s going to be a distribution nightmare at brick and mortar! I predict there will be whole waves stores don’t order for lack of room.

You must not know crap about Juggs history/background if you really think he would be a pushover for a lame team like X-force who only had one heavy hitter on the team in Warpath. Seems like a lot of you confuse being a powerhouse with size.

Wait a minute, didn't you just post this picture as a scale reference? According to your own reference it has Jugs at 9'5"

they've always given me great customer service..

In that scenario, Amazon should be dumping figures by June.

Tax refunds usually spur a lot of impulse buying. Maybe they are trying to get in on that.

Too bad I’ve had a couple setbacks that will put me behind on some of these waves. I should get a decent bonus that might get me caught up on this year.

Ya know, with so many Daredevil characters in the upcoming Spider themed waves, I'm not completely ruling out Kingpin as the BAF for the Venom series. Spider Ham could come with his entire torso (neck to crotch) just to take up the space in the package.

I totally understand why someone who has been collecting this line for awhile would feel like this but as someone who is just really getting started in it these are great. Those figures tend to be a bit pricey on the after market so now I just have to wait a little while and I can just by them at normal retail when they come out.

I'm betting on the Modern Typhoid Mary. It's the look they used for her reference art in the 2016 fan-poll. It's also probably the easiest to replicate with the parts already at their disposal. Attached the fan-poll pic below.

I'm definitely getting more excited about the possibility of Scream. I hope she doesn't get shorted on all of the extra symbiote-related goodies. I could see this one being a really fun figure.

Yes I did. And if you had read my post you would see that I stated there was no reason to add 3 ft to Juggs original 6'10 hgt. Everyone else in that pic is depicted at their proper comic book stated hgts asides from Juggernaut.

Oh I hope not. Kingpin is one of the most important Spider-Man villains, so he needs to be in a regular Spidey wave, not a Venom one. The Venom wave should just have a symbiote for its BAF (like Riot).

Marvel.com has him at 9’5” so it’s official, so what? He hit a growth spurt Spence 64. If the “official” height being 9’5” upsets you then you are out of scale brotha... what a flipping paradox right? Everyone likes what they like man. It’s fiction you have to have a bit of suspension of disbelief or it all falls apart. Have fun with it, don’t piss on the parts u don’t like, embrace the ones u do and the world keeps spinning.

Eh, who are we kidding, this is totally another Spidey-centric wave, just now with a new symbiotic flavor. There are plenty of potential options for the possible BAF, including Kingpin.

Yeah, it's getting crazy with all of the reveals, and we haven't even had ToyFair yet. I hope Hasbro still has something up their sleeves for the event, because I've got a feeling we've already been spoiled on most of it.

I'm well aware that he is now almost 10ft tall. That & many other reasons is why I quit collecting comics over a decade ago & have just stuck to collecting Marvel legends as my connection to the marvel universe. The supersizing of certain characters just for the hell of it among other things Marvel has done to some of the characters I grew up, price hikes, mostly bad art, constant revamps of the entire line & restarting with issue #1 for the 3rd time in a handful of yrs. All that killed my love for the collecting of Marvel comics. I just stick to watching the MCU movies & the ML comic based characters, at least those they haven't jacked up.

Thanks in advance for any advice and below are a few pictures of my current collection, it isn't much but it's a starting point.

Welcome to board! I used to collect Transformers as well but stopped a few years ago when Hasbro was doing the Fall of Cybertron figures. I've stuck to the Masterpiece figures but I'm by no means a completionist.

As for websites that could help with collecting Marvel Legends, MarvelousNews and MarvelLegends.net could help with older figures but their databases/gallery/checklist or whatever you would like to call them but they haven't been updated in a few years. However, I did find this link to a Marvel Legends wiki that seems up to date so hopefully this will help: Marvel Legends | Marvel Toys Wiki | FANDOM powered by Wikia
While there are no pictures, it should give you an idea of who has been released and when.

As far as eras go, I would say that if you like what Hasbro is producing right now then you will probably like most figures starting with the Return of Marvel Legends (2012) figures onward. Those first few waves did reuse several ToyzBiz bodies (and not the good ones) but you can find some good figures in those first few waves like Bucky Cap. However, Hasbro really came into their own in 2014 when they started to phase out those old TB bodies and began making their own.

If you're interested in ToyBiz Marvel Legends, I would recommend sticking to the earlier waves since TB knew they were going out of business at the end and were focused more on quantity than quality. I would also avoid 99-100% of Hasbro's first Marvel Legends figures. They weren't particularly good and many of them have been replaced over the past couple of years.

Err....? For someone who's anal about scaling, I don't see how the scale inconsistencies in the ML line don't bother you. 6'1/200 lbs. Punisher shares the same body mold as 6'2/220 lbs. Captain America. Pizza Spidey (5'10) is as tall as Daredevil (6'0), who's as tall as Deadpool (6'2). You say the newest Venom is the perfect rendition of the character as far as scaling goes, but he shares the same body mold as Sentry (who's 3 feet shorter and weighs nearly 60 pounds less) and Luke Cage (who's 3 feet taller).

Personally, scaling doesn't bother me, so long as some general rules are kept. Colossus should always tower over most heroes. Wolverine should almost always be the shortest guy in a group. Spider-Man should always be thin and nimble.

Getting caught up in the exact, precise scaling is just asking for a headache when not even the artists put that much thought into it. And at the end of the day, it's just an artist's interpretation of a character, it's not a matter of 'right' or 'wrong'. Yes, McFarlane's Venom wasn't more than a buff bodybuilder. But other interpretations wanted to make him more monstrous and alien. That's how they chose to represent the character. That doesn't make them wrong.

And this is why I say a scale chart is nice, but that chart has characters in mostly static poses lined up side-by-side. Try to maintain absolutely perfect scaling every single time when you have to mess with perspective, putting characters in different poses, all while working with different angles and making the pages dynamic enough to be interesting. It's damned near impossible, which is why most artists just tend to guesstimate it.

Yeah, it's a common complaint you'll see. I do it myself with MCU Iron Man, forgetting that the last MCU Iron Man was from the Giant Man wave two years ago so it makes sense to do a new slightly updated version.

Venom and Carnage are also always in high demand, it would be a mistake for Hasbro not bring them around once in awhile, especially with Carnage who do to the way that first Spider-Man wave worked wasn't terribly easy to find the first time. Plus I'm sure there are plenty of people who even though they say they won't will still double dip, especially if the BAF is something insanely in high demand like Kingpin (I doubt it, he should be Netflix wave 2 if anything, but who knows?)
