you never know,if hasbro get the licence to make the movie line toys for the upcoming "days of future past" then it could be possible to see concept characters or at the very least a bunch of MU/ML xmen releases,i mean look at the mini mates roster, that line has the best Marvel roster even better than legends,so if they are creating these obscure characters for mini-mates,that means they are fully aware of the material they have to draw from,i agree with mike we may well see a "marvel now" range in 3.75" & 6" form.what remains to be seen is if hasbro stick to the classic articulation or will they cheap out with the "5 points" system they went with for IM3 and wolverine.

Truth, I am sick of trying to find a reason to buy under thought pieces of plastic, hasbro hope your earnings statement reflects the poor choices you have made with the recent 3 3/4 figs...

I wonder if they check stores to see how their product just hangs there, see every single toy line out out by hasbro after avengers (and that's a stretch)

Jackieboy 05-09-2013 12:55 PM

its hard to say if the latest lines are popular with kids under 10,if they are then hasbro/disney will keep making them.but im looking forward to seeing what thor 2,cap america, antman, have in store.ive seen enough decent upcoming releases to convince me that we will be kept happy through out 2013,and these figures are relatively easy to customise so why wait for hasbro to release figures you would love when you can make them yourself or get someone to make them for you, look at the custom figs Lord marvel and Lord Rayden have those are just as good if not better than anything hasbro have thrown at us...so in truth its not all doom and gloom.

not all doom and gloom to say the least, Iron Man 3 Legends were well done (and looking forward to the wolverine legends), I just think that nothing says "dont buy me" like T-Crotches, 3 3/4 being my favorite size, dissapointment has been stacking in that dept.

Yeah, I really want a Mark 42 and movie Iron Patriot for my armory but the assemblers aren't even tall enough! I could have accepted them as those $5 statue figures because at least those are the right size for an armory and cheap. Why Hasbro, why?

fa11enwing 05-09-2013 01:43 PM

from the toys r us and targets I go to, I see too many kids squeeling over the Ironman assemblers/asking their parents for them all the time. I smiled seeing those kinds though.

It does suck that there's no articulated Ironman 3 figs as I like some designs. And i doubt Hasbro will get hurt from the sales as they'll get higher profit margins from these 5poa figs. Hasbro try to sell the case to retailers, retailers try to sell some figures to buyers.

If they make tons of money from that method, just hope they'll use some of that money on the Marvel Universe line or invest some comic characters on movie lines. I'm content with what I have and atleast I get to save money by not buying the kiddie toys. :D

ultraman zoffy 05-09-2013 01:49 PM

These guys are holding up the IM3 representation in my armory right now... they match all the previous IM and IM2 figs height wise once you install revo joints:

while that looks great the point is that we shouldn't have to do this. and sad as lack of articulation is nowadays apparently it sometimes doesn't matter MOS figs are actually flying off the shelf in my area while Avengers and IM3 and gijoe flood the pegs here.

mikefavata 05-09-2013 02:14 PM

Well the good news is Hasbro MIGHT do an articulated 3.75" line or they will just keep making more Iron Man 3 legends figures. The news isn't TOO clear but they know people dislike the lower articulation.

How it talks about the IM Legends and movie line as separate things... that sounds like articulated 3.75" figures.

Oh, I totally agree. The only reason I even bothered was because I've been trying to learn more about customizing. Otherwise, I'd only recommend picking these up for the truly desperate.

your work here is beautiful. i can't wait to see more of your stuff.

fosterlager 05-09-2013 03:05 PM

I totally see them adding the fully articulated Mk 42 and Iron Patriot within a year. It'll force a lot of us to double dip, unfortunately.

im in total agreement about those t-crotch figures, looks like hasbro put more thought into the packaging rather than the figure itself.mikes link is interesting, does it mean that harbro realised their mistake and are gonna unleash a secondary 3.75" line with great articulation?when you think about it,there is no real work to put into a reboot.they already have the molds.and they dont have to make lots of new figures, just a few based off the main movie armors and tons of repaints.im a bit bummed at some the old school legends collectors suggesting hasbro sacrifice the 3.75" line for legends, why cant we have both?i ask myself.

fosterlager 05-09-2013 03:13 PM

I'm not interested in the six inch scale at all. If 3.75" was dropped entirely I'd stop collecting any Marvel.

Yep, we would not Scale change again 3.75 is ideal for the kid as she can get more for her money

Same here - I just literally sold the last of my LEGENDS and my MU collection is pretty good right now

Jackieboy 05-09-2013 06:03 PM

the thing i laugh at is how some legends collectors view the 3.75" line as childish, pot, kettle, black.im happy MU came along, its given me the chance to have a more complete Marvel roster than i did with legends,it takes up less room, and is far more compatible with other toys lines than legends.also would these legends collectors view GI Joes/star wars collectors as childish?because there are some serious collections out there in 3.75" land in fact some of them can be seen here and as far as im concerned those collections are better than any legends collection ive seen, but i have seen some great legends collections, for me 3.75" is a better line all round.

DarthGzus33 05-09-2013 06:07 PM

I only buy Legends for my absolute favorite characters...I buy pretty much all 3.75"...The article above sounds very promising...My poopy MK42 looks super lame next to all of my other IM figs, they must fix this travesty!!!

I am starting to go this route as well

Good call Jackieboy, I am right there with you!!! If it wasn't for G1 3.75" Star Wars & Joes when I was a kid I would have never become a collector...I am not a hater of Legends in any way but 3.75" (especially Joes & MU) are what I look forward to hunting for every day!!!

kylactus 05-09-2013 06:23 PM

I read a piece in toyfare way back in 09 when MU first came out. they were saying the point of the 3.75 scale was to provide more charactures in accurate scale, and to provide vehicles and playsets.... where are these? did I miss them? and not to be all "doom and gloom" but the head designer for the line said that before its over he wanted a Bag Head spidey... but that would probably only happen at the end of the line... du du duuuuuuu! more fule for the fire of paranoia. on another note I do want a legends DOOM to customize it into a statue
for Castle dooms front yard.

Yeah, the lack of 3.75" is why I don't have anything DC. Although, that looks to be changing now. If Marvel were to drop 3.75" then I'd drop Marvel.

I love the elitism present in the Legends forums, their air of superiority over the scale of their collection really highlights the inadequacies in other aspects of their life. And, I have to agree, a lot of the dope collections I've seen on here are MU, Joe and Star Wars centric.

For me, it was seeing Archangel and 90's Cyclops on the shelf and my X-Men obsession took over. The 3.75" is ideal for my deskspace.

And here it is, the obligatory chicken little "the sky is falling, MU is over" post. It's been a while since we had one.

----

Does anybody use Legends, Selects or even old ToyBiz figures in their MU displays to portray height differences for characters like Galactus, Sentinels, FFF, Giant Man and the likes? I'm aware there's MU equivalencies of most of them but still

I avoid the 6" figures but I decided I can buy a few as long as I keep it focused. I already have X-Force and that was all I was going to buy but I've decided to get a little America display going.

Bucky Cap
Ultimate Cap
Commander Rogers
Iron Patriot
Iron Patriot (movie)
US Agent

Keeps it pretty tight and they are unique characters. Already got half of them.

I kept waiting for DC to do some decent 3.75" figures but everything they put out is either lame or breaks way too easily. I finally broke down last month and started buying 6" DC stuff. Since I don't want that many characters I am actually pretty happy with them.
