Are you sure your TRU isn't a portal into my TRU? (Or vice versa). Although I guess not...somehow my TRU actually got the Thor wave in.

TRU is a joke, they wonder why they are failing. The only thing I can say I'm happy they got in is the Storm Collectables Street Fighter figures, although they literally have the hidden on a back end cap.

As a result of this, her higher ups have told her to limit her ordering on all items in the coming weeks to try and get rid of the excess.

I suspect a huge part of both of these reasons is because TRU probably looks at their Legends as "Captain America Legends", "Spider-Man Legends", "X-Men Legends" and does not differentiate to the wave level. Their mentality is that they are stocked on a category of Legends and that if they are not selling then it is the line that is not performing well. As such, flooding their shelves with stock from closed stores should of course boost their sales because now they have more of <insert type> Legends. This is not entirely just speculation on my part. An employee at the TRU back where I lived in IL told me they would not let the local store order new waves at the moment because they were "fully stocked on Legends". This guy and a couple of other members of the store understood the way Legends and some other toy lines worked with continuous waves but the higher ups would not listen. This was despite the fact their entire stock was, at the minimum, 3 waves behind.

They are obviously out of touch with the way any type of continuous waves toy lines actually work and instead of working to clear their shelves of older stock and always try to have the newest items available they will continue to flounder and just say that the line does not perform well. Even when the now one TRU on my side of KC gets a different wave, they are generally so far behind that everyone already purchased that wave somewhere else. The other store that just closed was so far behind that they got the Giant Man wave in after the next 2 waves were already out.

This does not even take into account how bad their online "pre-order" system tends to be.

If you can even navigate their site. Its like it doesnt want people to use. It. Everytime i try to look or browse their site its so beyond slow its like im on dial up ( im using a modern ipad with 100 mbs speed ao its not my system, ipad or wifi as walmart bbts and others load lickety split ) with their site.

Absolutely, they are entirely out of touch with how current toy lines work. It's just funny to see stores like Target and Walmart have a better understanding of toys than a store with the word toy in their name. I mean Target and Walmart both liquidated old stock around the same time, right before all these new waves were set to hit.

I don't think it's just TRU either. This definitely ties into the coding with the waves (not the item number but the abbreviation code.) If true they look at the amount of SPD product they have, regardless of it's the current wave, or two years back, and consider the same, same for any other "brand". It's why with the fluke exception of the GOTG wave 2, it's easy to find the first wave in a while of the brand but harder with second, third, etc, within a couple of years.

Think about the Civil War 3 waves. First wave no problem, in general. Second wave definitely harder to find eventually could find most. Third wave, retail was pretty much a joke. And because we tend to have 2 waves of Spider-Man brand every year, it's a recurring problem, yearly.

Oh yeah, it is definitely not just TRU but it is much more noticeable there.

Yes, but also consider how long Walmart holds onto their figures for certain waves. The ones that hit clearance quickly are the one offs like GotG, Ant Man and Doctor Strange that do not fall under the Captain America, Avengers, Spider-Man or X-Men groupings. I suspect the Black Panther and Knights waves may behave similarly where they hit clearance sooner. Target already had the Knights wave on sale for $12 each. Walmart just finally clearanced a lot of the old waves for the big groups in the last 3-4 months. Target is still hanging onto most of them. Heck, if you recall, they dropped a whole bunch of the original GotG wave when the GotG2 wave dropped.

UGH their site is horrible. You can search on it and not find a result. Case in point was the Spidey/MJ pack. Their internal search would not return a page. However, if I searched Spider-Man Mary Jane Toys R Us on Google then the page was the first result.

Went to my local wally world yesterday & their entire ML section is bare ass. I guess they are getting ready to fill it up with the BP movie wave. Kinda lagging as I saw the BP movie wave at my local TRU a day earlier & was able to snag Namor. They had my BB who I want but I feel I can get later on ebay loose as I am not keen for the BAF in the wave. TRU still has Hellcat/Misty Knight for $19.99, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!!

They don't really hold onto figures tho. At least not around me. For instance, before the Netflix wave and the Thor wave hit both target and Walmart clearances out all older figures to clear space. Same thing had just happened within the past month, now they have room for BP and all the other new incoming waves. If there is old stock on the shelf, it is usually just a peg warmers than none wants, even at discount.

ariellagunas 02-11-2018 12:46 PM

Just order/pre-order the Sasquatch wave, the two riders, Mr Fantastic and the four characters of the Avengers wave that I want, so I'm up to date. I also found a loose Toybiz Sabretooth in Barcelona. Love it.

Bearjew 02-11-2018 12:57 PM

All my local stores are overstocked with Thor, Spiderman vulture wave, jackal, and BP waves. There is NO room for anything else

the bankruptcy is due to their debt load following a leveraged buyout in 2005. It has very little to do with how they run the business, which if not for the debt payments would have been profitable.

The guy must be brain dead or something. I know he packages groceries at a supermarket for a living ... that explains abit and yes, i forgot about the block feature. I just added him, and really i think i'll start using that block feature abit more now

kylactus 02-11-2018 02:02 PM

We should really all get along, sure we’re a bunch of adults that collect toys, and the vast majority of us are cynical neurotic dousch bags that should really be removed from society, myself included, still, we’re all here, as long as everyone realizes their opinion isn’t worth a stray dogs ass hole, and your personal sensitivities and weaknesses are playthings for others to exploit, we can all be one happy disfunctional family, right? Now, let’s all PM each other and agree on a neutral location to meet up and have a bloody battle royal to determine which sub set of ML figures is the best... that’s what started everything right?

As far as brick and mortar, the Walmart near me finally got the classic Black Panther exclusive yesterday, they discounted it to $9.00 today. And they put out a case of the vulture wave, which they clearances out like 3 months ago... god I hate being in PO-dunk...

Wrong, i dont work at a supermarket but whats wrong with working at a supermarket? there are people who work there and are hard workers. do you think your special or something? looks like youre the brain dead one with your comments. im good at arguments so you can stop while you're at it, next. no wonder you have a negative feedback on your ebay, hollywood huh?

I just want to talk about toys...and occasionally comics. and alcohol. portals to demonic dimensions that open up in my backyard every once in a while, too. :D

snake5289 02-11-2018 02:46 PM

Just going to ignore all the bickering and ask who else would love a Renew Your Vows set? I know it'd mean another Spider-Man figure that most of you are probably drowning in at this point but getting MJ and Annie in their respective costumes should make up for it.

Just finished watching a video review on Sasquatch & as I figured, he uses no parts whatsoever from Man-thing like a few of you were speculating he did. Totally new sculpt & he is 1/2 inch taller than man-Thing as well which I can accept but was really hoping he at least hit the 9 inch scale being that he's a 10 footer in the comics. Either way, he's my most anticipated figure in that wave followed by classic DP & Cable/Deathlok. BTW, BAF Juggernaut is 9' tall so I really wish Sasquatch had been made at least as tall as Juggs, whom he's supposed to be bigger than, Ugh!
