You kill me with your lack of understanding how metaphors work.

Re-read the Adams Longshot mini-series. So I finally opened by X-Men pack. Longshot is a pretty good figure even though most are buying for the Rogue. I recommend him. Now I desperately need a 4" Spiral made.

Dude love that mojo! and totaly second the spiral request.

JanSolo 05-12-2013 07:25 PM

I just noticed that Longshot is the spitting image of Richard Dean Anderson circa Macgyver. Now I really want him, too bad he's the only one in that pack I want.

I had someone offer me $10 for a MOC Death's Head Archangel once and they were serious. I think it's ridiculous if someone actually thinks they will get an expensive figure like the 2 mentioned above for anything less than market value.

and who decides its "expensive"? marvel?hasbro?toystore?comicshop?flipper?scalper?n ot everyone is in this game to make a quick buck off the back of others, some just genuinely want to help out fellow collectors. i think thats the concept people are having trouble with,to be fair.

Lody666 05-12-2013 08:02 PM

I picked up the Xmen set just for Rogue so I have Longshot, Wolverine and Cyclops for trade/sale if anyone is looking.

"Let's sell our figures for market value but fuck scalpers who do the same" - is this our new motto?

Imaginary situation: You and your close friend are both Marvel collectors. Somehow you find two solid Visions 10 bucks a piece. I suppose you will buy both of them. One for yourself and one for your close friend. You will sell that figure to your close friend for 100 bucks? Nah, he is your friend, you will sell it to him for 10 bucks, or maybe you will be so happy that you will give it to him for free. Because he is your close friend.

Now, this whole argument is based on how we percieve other Arkers. Are they our friends? Are they just the means to get figures cheap? Or are they just a sheep to try to make some money off of them?

Here is a first attempt at this with just a pic from my phone. Any criticizm is welcome. I really love this place, it's imagination, and talent.

I highly suggest dipping the new DC collectible figures in boiling water. Then move around the joints. It will loosen up all of that glue and stuck joints.

Nice photo session. What lab coat did you use for hulk? That's awesome, like he's hulking out of it.

quinten182 05-13-2013 08:11 AM

Found an X-Men pack in TRU and scooped it up to look at it, only to see, Rogue was gone. Looked at the box openings and couldn't find a thing, was so confused how they stole her.. then.. I somehow missed it on first glance, the blatantly obvious triangular knife cut right over top of her.. ha. They needed her pretty bad, no BS, no returning with a Star Wars figure, a knife to the front plastic, and out comes Rogue! I wanted to take a picture so bad, but phone was dead..

How about "sulum vir pro sui" people should just stick to dealing with people they know and can trust and its on every newbie to step up to the mark and prove his quality.

I'm not sure how I feel on the idea of "veterans" being more worthy of deals and whatever else. I understand the scepticism in dealing with somebody with zero feedback, of course.

I think you mean pro se quisque for your Latin reference lad

How is this connected to my quoted text? I do not follow, sorry.

I noticed HTS has two listings for the Captain America/Wolverine Greatest Battles pack. Does anyone know if there's a difference between the two like there is with the Iron Man/Thor 2 pack?

Cap/Wolvie 02

bmorr 05-13-2013 04:10 PM

as far i can see everything is the same.

kylactus 05-13-2013 04:16 PM

Squid pro row Mr.Powers, as someone who hasn't delt with anyone here yet, i've gotta say part of it has to be about getting a good vibe, and trust is way more important in a place like this than say Ebay. and although i've never met anyone here in person theres alot of folks I'd send something to on good faith. and I wouldn't deal with someone here who I'd gouge or who'd gouge me. The price in reputation would be too high. if you want top value or "market price" as were calling scalper prices now I guess...theres a thousand places for that (not condoning or condeming) like Ebay.... and if any of you, my dear dear friends have a 10 dollar solid vision....put me first on you list.

kylactus 05-13-2013 04:18 PM

what is the difference in the IM/Thor packs?

Same here, I just remember when I would try to compare the Iron Man/Thor 2 pack on HTS I couldn't make out the difference then either.

The original one has a more metallic paint app. It's hard to see on Iron Man in the pics, but you can tell in the grey on Thor.

I also just noticed that one of the IM's shoulder pads are connected the wrong way on my pack.

Anyone ever notice how most of the X-men figures are modern but the Avengers are classic?

I think that is a lot of it. To me there is a big difference between a figure you just got at retail and one that you've had in your collection for years and isn't on the shelf anymore. I wouldn't try to pay someone retail for an older figure that goes for much more because I don't know what they paid or how long they've been holding onto it. Paying $30-$40 for a figure I know someone just pulled from a case or found on the pegs is where I have the problem as it's largely artificial demand.

That's just it. I don't get why anyone would come on here to get top dollar for items that sell easily on ebay or the like. Alarms go off for me as to why they aren't just using ebay where the buyer can be protected. People come here to make trades that help each other or to help people out who aren't getting certain figures in their area. I can see people coming here to forums to sell figures don't have a huge market elsewhere or maybe finding someone what would want to take an entire collection.

I've been able to come to an agreement about fair value (both ways) on figures with most people here. The ones were I haven't made the trade/sale/buy with are the ones that demanded top prices and wanted retail for my stuff or agreed to a trade and then wanted to change when I was on my way to the post office. Those people rarely have any feedback here anyway. I think a good trade/sale involves both sides feeling like they got what they wanted but neither side jumping for joy because they just the deal/profit of the century or something.
