Got the ultimate Zarak since I've had a dry August thus far and was left wanting another NECA DnD figure after getting the retro color Warduke at the end of July. Zarak was the easy pick for me since I'm partial to goblins, I know the original LJN toy identifies Zarak as a half-orc but I'm pretty sure they did that because all of their toys were meant to be possible player-characters and goblins weren't an option. Just look at him though, he's a goblin. Considering he's a short character I would have liked to see more accessories, like they did later with Elkhorn, but the accessories he does come with are all nicely done. There's a decent set of equipment for an assassin and a good amount of alternate pieces but I might've done things a little different. Another head with a crazy cackling expression like the box art would have been a great inclusion and I would've preferred a small sack of coins/treasure in place of having two closed fist hands. Besides the fact that he already has a short-sword, two knives, and a grappling-hook/garrote to use, this guy gives me more of a strangle and bite energy when disarmed rather than a "put up yer dukes" vibe. I wasn't into the LJN toys but I very much enjoy NECA's takes and would certainly like to see them continue with this series, looking over the original assortment I'd probably most like to see Mercion done next.

Hey Dr Kain, why Demons on blu-ray but Demons 2 on 4K? Just curious why you mixed formats.

In the Shady Dragon Inn module from around that time Zarak is a half-Orc NPC...all those characters from the LJN line were NPCs actually. I think TSR were going for some kind of synergy between the toyline and gameplay material...intending for people to use the figures in their games. But didnt quite work out that way.

Like I said I wasn't into the LJN line but I did some research into it recently enough (because of NECA's Warduke) and it seems like an interesting story that is probably missing some pieces. So far as I found every LJN toy was an original concept except for Warduke, who did not have a name before the toys but showed up in magazines for DnD, and they were pretty much all conceived as toys before trying to fit them all in to the DnD formula. Warduke was the only one who really stuck though, apparently most of the others were too similar to existing NPCs so players didn't see the appeal to having basically two of the same character. Recently-ish some of them were used in the 5e adventure 'Wild Beyond the Witchlight' and some are included in a DnD themed mobile-game, but most recently they got a bit of a heavier presence. The 2024 Player's Handbook features Strongheart, Mercion, and Elkhorn in key art (including the front cover and 'classes' title page) but I have no clue if any are mentioned by name anywhere within.

I believe Warduke was specifically made for the toyline as well. He was a Tim Truman design. There's that notion that a character appearing in the background of an old Dragon magazine cover with a similar helmet & wearing chainmail is an unnamed proto-warduke but I dont know....maybe? That seems more like fantasy villain trope that just happens to share some similar triats. Then again i suppose maybe Truman was given that cover and told to refine it and make it more specific.

Got the Mcfarlane Toys Green Arrow today. Great figure. Ollie looks great. It's based of off Longbow Hunters. love all the greens. My only complaint is Todd using gummy plastic for the bow and arrow. Also I love having an Arrow GA can notch in his hand.

Pokemons can go with Kenshin. :p What ! you think Kenshin is too good for Pokemons or something !!! :p

Kidding aside, no, Kenshin is the only one that has been released so far from the Rurouni Kenshin anime/manga.

Alright. Now I'm a little nervous. Found this at Wal-Mart tonight.

If I have any luck at all it's always bad but this is the second day in a row that I've randomly stumbled on something in a store that I absolutely didn't expect. Man I hope nothing bad is coming. Especially since my grandma has to go to the hospital for a few days starting Thursday.
