Aaand another disappointing Target visit, although for different reasons this time.

I went to yet another Target near me today because Brickseek just said they have some when it previously said they didn't, so I had to assume they just got the new wave in. I went in and asked the team members at the electronics desk about it as usual, but they said there was a new policy about not bringing out more of a collectible item if there were any of the same type left on the shelf. Specifically, they said a manager was fired there for bringing stuff out for people.

Has anyone else had any Targets tell you something like that? I understand it's probably to stop scalpers, but I kinda hope this policy doesn't roll out to other Targets, and that it's just a store-by-store thing.

donmeca2020 03-05-2018 02:52 PM

Guys while i do feel your pain about not being able to find figures locally. Remember majority of them are available online. Some of you need be less dependant of retailers and if you want the figures so bad both dorkside ( which charges no taxes and free shipping on stuff ovEr $100) and BBTS. Damn near always have these figures in stock.

Granted i look around locally too but sometimes it's not worth the gas, time, effort, and headache of not finding what you want.

Before anyone says lizard wave and DP wave aren't available online. Bullshit i just got my lizard wave from dorkside and i've seen other members on here posting pics of their DP wave.

The only reason I'm even bothering to actually hunt for them right now is because Target has Spider-Man Legends marked down to $12.29. Otherwise I'd just be buying the more popular ones online now and then waiting for the more abundant ones to go down in price way later. If possible, I think it would be nice to get the whole wave for just over $85 this soon after them first starting to come out.

DarthKamen 03-05-2018 03:24 PM

I'm continually jealous of the quality of pictures that people post here. One day maybe I'll actually take a decent looking photo.

Well for me I skipped the BAF because of the colors and the figures I would need to buy to complete it. This version is 1000xs better imo. I do regret buying the goofy groot BAF as the select one is vastly superior.

Captain Nash 03-05-2018 03:51 PM

I'm so glad I'm wanting so little right now. Just content for everything to come when it does. If I see it in the stores great I'll pick it up but I'm going to no extra trouble for anything at this point. That WILl change with the X-Men wave and the Sauron wave, even if 90% because of Sauron (though I do badly want half that wave as well anyways.) For now, just waiting on loose shipment of Mysterio, X-23 and Domino, for whenever Dorkside is able to stock/send them. If I will eventually want Thanos and Reed Richards but I'm not making any actual effort at this point to get them, I'm sure I"ll run into them eventually. (I hope.Ha!)

But good luck to all of ya'll who are searching. May the luck be with you on your voyages!

Ditto on Jersey's logic there. I really hope that they do something like this later with more BAFs, not store exclusives that is but repaints which are sold as complete figures. Like Rhino, I'd like to have a Rhino but I only got two figures in his wave and then the Select figure is ludicrously priced in the after-market. Or even though the BAF has yet to come out I already want them to do something like this for Apocalypse, maybe in his '90s cartoon colors.

I'd love to see some other BAFs reissued as completed figures as well, perhaps with some new tooling for either new parts/accessories, or updated engineering and articulation (IE Ares).

Anything that could result in a rerelease of The Blob would be aces with me.

I normally don't nor can't "hunt" anymore, due to the fact i would have to haul my rugrat around, And it's a PITA trying to run place to place with a 8 month old. So if i happen to be at a walmart i'll check what's in stock but that's it. I don't make special trips anymore.

I can't lie though, i have been tempted to go and hunt down that Thanos from walmart.

I doubt we would see the blob as a standalone figure as he was more of a legit BAF. He would never fit in their packaging.

Maybe a 2-pack? They could probably manage to fit him in a multi-pack box, even if they needed to dissasemble him a bit.

Yeah, I know, but a guy can dream :D

Maybe a "Mystique's Brotherhood" box set? Mystique, Blob, Pyro, Avalanche, and Destiny? Realistically, it's not likely, but the universe is infinite in its possibilities.

It's actually a company policy, but it's enforcement will vary from store to store. This is to help mostly with headaches like partial cases and loss prevention during inventory season. Employees however are often secret shopped at most large retailers as a part of their evaluation, and are often encouraged to check stockrooms for items as a part of the secret shopper process, so it becomes moot point.

Some stores however will catch on to certain practices of collectors and scalpers through customer complaints however, and will more strongly enforce these rules for certain items deemed "collectibles" (such as action figures and Funko Pops) as well as hot items (like the Hatchimals craze a year or two ago.) Employees who happen to know or be collectors or scalpers are also a problem of course, and if customers complain and stores catch onto it, it can also force more strict policies into place. My local Targets actually had signs posted in their toy aisles for over a year and stuck to it, due to local scalpers doing their business right out in front of the store in the parking lot during the Star Wars seasons, many of who either had friends or family members working in stores helping them out.

This very much. I feel everyone's pain when it comes to not finding what they're looking for, but the brickseek updates and phantom empty handed stocking reports are getting really repetitive.

These figures can be all found online through many of the e-tailers (which have gotten better at stocking individual figures for each wave now...provided you pre-order.) A great deal of them can also be found now on eBay, at very minimal mark-up, especially if you are buying loose. Unless you are trying to build a BAF or are a MOC collector, there's always alternatives, unless you REALLY enjoy burning gas, dealing with traffic, wasting time and being let down by your local retailers.

Huh, despite having worked at Target, I'd never heard of that policy before. Glad that's the case, as it doesn't imply the potential imminent widespread adoption of the policy as I previously thought.

And I definitely agree for the most part with the "don't bother hunting, just order online" sentiment, but Target has that $12.29 sale for Spider-Man Legends until the 10th, and I gotta take advantage of that for the Lizard wave while I can. As I said, if not for that sale, I would not be hunting right now, except maybe very casually for the popular ones that are already sold out online.

Dorkside usually always puts out each figure at individual pricing the minute they come in. After that, then they some times don't reup them til a few weeks or so later.

Here in south florida TRU stores suck ass big time. I honestly don't bother with them anymore because they're such a major letdown. A friend of mine in Ohio found a Klaw/Shuri two pack today and grabbed it for me.

Targets are also normally letdowns too. I was at one yesterday, they had a few different legends but nothing i was looking for. OH and absolutely nothing with the name marvel legends on the boxes were on sale. They were all regular price including space iron man from the very first GOTG wave and those pesky white tiger, misty knight, and female beetle figures... who the hell would pay full price for those ?

1. The online retailers aren't getting them in. I preordered the Lizard wave at Dorkside the day they went up, but I'm still waiting for them to get my order in. So clearly they aren't available to everyone online.

2. You can't check the paint jobs of figures bought online. You have to hope you get one that doesn't suck like a raffle.

3. Online shopping will always be inferior to buying something in person.

Captain Nash 03-05-2018 08:06 PM

That's funny, I didn't know that T-H-A-N-O-S spelled Doom (which would be reissue anyways....) ;)

Parademon1 03-05-2018 08:57 PM

While getting some TP & dog food at my local Wally world today, I decided to stroll over to the AF aisle in the hopes of maybe lucking out on any Sasquatch BAF wave figs. All they had hangin on the pegs was a single Namor, a single Beetle & a single Tombstone. 3 friggin figures! So I don't know if that's all they have left or if I just missed out on new figs & they all got snatched up. No Mr F at my 2 Walgreens either.

Not necessarily. The "swapped" hand in the package is actually not Death Head's, but just another of the outstretched Thanos hand sans the gold cuff. Wouldn't be the most bizarre factory error.

1. dorkside did and not only were they selling entire waves but also single figures. i got my entire lizard wave with an extra Noir figure too.

2 your right but so far i havent gotten screwed on that as of yet and i've bought quite a few entire waves through out the years.

3. your opinion. yea it's better to find it locally and no shipping expense. however the joy of not having to deal with some scum of society when walking through a walmart or where ever and to actually get what your wanting rather then get pissed off and blow a blood vessel like you did a week ago. i mean cmon dude lol

i even stopped going to comic shops. i order them via online now as well. yea im a week behind, but i get everything i want and i don't have to worry about them NOT getting a title and me having to search somewhere else.

the only reason nowadays to actually step foot into a store is for groceries, hygiene items, and clothing. which of course by the way can also just be ordered online, however those things i prefer to get in store .

It’s looking like this Lizard wave is going to be a bitch to find. I had a guy at target looking for their one case that Brickseek said they had, and he couldn’t find it. Hopefully I can call this morning and get it located. I really want that Mysterio, and don’t want to pay stupid EBay prices. Most of the new stuff is just hitting, but it’s gone before I can find it. I did pick up a Riders Widow and Thanos from Walmart.

I don't think, its gonna be hard. My suggestion to you is to check your local Walgreens for them. I picked up the entire wave from walgreens. Earlier they were getting 1-3 figures from the wave, but my local Walgreens just got a full case last week.
