I think it's pretty widely known that the creators didn't like Bane so it's not all that surprising that he and his debut episode are on the weaker side of BTAS.

Didn't think I'd find one but he was the last one on the peg. Happy end to a pretty long day. |

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...e6b467dd_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c748d105_b.jpg My latest acquisitions. Black Cat was through Amazon and the Hammond Collection stuff is still just at Target. I picked up the impressive "velociraptor" Delta from Jurassic World at the end of last summer and while I just kinda prefer her coloring this one based on the Lost World is eye-catching with its tiger-like scheme. It's mostly the same toy but the neck and head are different, Delta's neck had visible hinges which granted more movement and her lower teeth were fully sculpted whereas here the lower teeth and tongue are more reliant on the paint to distinguish them. It's still a great raptor toy though. Then we've got the Spinosaurus based on its appearance in JP3. The third movie has always sat in a weird spot, I like it more than the second but it's still a far cry from being as good as the first. There are some great practical effects and it finally adapted two of the more thrilling encounters from the original book with the aviary (please do the pteranodon soon Mattel) and the river ambush but then the central story is flimsy and we've got the talking dream raptor. Either way we finally got a different theropod to stomp around and menace people. Even as scientific theories about its true nature continue to bounce back and forth the spinosaurus has remained a fascinating and visually striking predator and while it will probably never be as popular as the tyrannosaur I'm fond of this weirdo. As for the toy it's pretty great, it's overall bigger than the T-rex as it should be. It handles well and overall looks good, there are some zones where the sculpt and/or paint are soft but for the price and size I won't really complain. Having this in hand has me wondering if they're going to do an updated T-rex with better proportions, I don't suddenly dislike the Rexy from this line but she's got clown feet. |
