That's real nice. My main focus is MCU/Netflix so base figure was the Schleich Rocket Racoon. Arms came from a Vintage Collection Rey (heavily modded to make them shorter),waist/crotch/ thighs were Gollum, knee joints were a HP Luna Lovegood, ball joint head and tail and hands were from the fodder box. I'm never again gonna tackle something this small as I had to sacrifice blood to the Customising Gods (shortening one of the arms and I managed to put a razor blade through the top of my thumb) :-(

I’ll see how they are and if they suck I’ll return em, it’s amazon and Bezos wipes his a$$ with $100 bills I think so that’s means nothing to him |
If it had a normal looking Hulk instead of his twin that just came from Burning Man I'd probably pick one up too.

The Universe is expanding.... (pics to follow in next post)
I have now moved into the endgame (no pun intended) of this project. I completed the last two shelves that I needed. I should have just enough space now to finish out the character list I've put together. By the time I've hit the end I will have re-created every Marvel character that I wanted to have in a G.I. Joe articulated scale as a child. Though that's still a good two years away by my estimation. This batch is actually all on the villainous side. Other than Lady Deadpool, who I intended to make in this batch, the rest just evolved as I went along. A nice spread of bad guys. In comic news I've been slowly working my way through these collections and omnibuses. I've gotten through X-Tinction Agenda; Crimson, a couple others. I've started back on the Rising Stars compendium (this is one massive and heavy compendium - thick as the Darkness volumes) and mixing in some Magdalena: Origins. Warlock is there because I had to fix the factory red paint that was fading. I painted his collar, so it's a solid color - along with painting the skull gold - while I was at it. Looks much better. So, anyway, onto the rest... A.I.M. (Scientist Supreme; Lyle Getz; field techs) - While plotting out the end of this project I decided to beef up my organizations. I had neglected AIM for some time so it was time to finally make the Scientist Supreme I've been thinking of. Still working on his back story, but I used the A:EMH design without the yellow ovals on the straps that I sculpted on. As with most of these I painted the gloves black. While making the Sci Supreme I opted to expand on the AIM ranks a bit. That led me to: Lyle Getz, in line to become a Scientist Supreme. I gave him a slightly modified version of what I call the "AIM Field Tech" outfit to help illustrate his difference in rank. I sculpted the smaller strap running over his left shoulder. AIM Field Techs, the simplest of the group, just added black to the gloves, again ala A:EMH. For the base "drone" I just removed the bandolier entirely. The drones are the only ones with yellow gloves. Makes them really stand apart from the rest. AIM is just a bunch of science geeks, which really limits their customizing potential. Other than a Super Adaptoid I think this organization is about tapped out for me. Goliath (MoE) - There's a few more MoE members that I want to get made. Only a handful since I've no attachment to most of the 60's and 70's characters. Before my time. I did want to make Goliath as he filled a good role and was part of the Siege of Avengers Mansion. Really good story. Anyway, made him out of an ionic Wonder Man with a Drax head and some bits from Bulldozer. I had to mix up the brownish-red color. Hopefully nothing happens to the paint job since I doubt I could exactly mix that ratio again. I'm actually fine with his character history as this guy. Glad to add another to the MoE group. Just a couple more and they're done. Winter Solider - As with Captain America I was not a fan of the Winter Soldier character until the MCU. Now I get the appeal, but I prefer to keep him as a Cap antagonist. I like the idea of Cap having a foil that he will not kill under any circumstance. Anyway, I got the full face mask head from Plastic Curves (great cast, they ship super fast, small selection though) which came cast in a translucent orange plastic. Obviously I had to paint it. For the diamond masked head, I used the one that I had inadvertently broken off Hasbro figure I bought years ago. I always hated the figure since it was small in comparison to the MU scale so, no loss. I painted this one too. For the body, I started with some Star Lord legs for the baggy pants look and sculpted the padding for his torso armor along with the collar. I also sculpted over the standard left arm since there wasn't a suitable arm I could just use outright. After adding the two holsters on his thighs I wanted one more gun on the figure somewhere. Thinking back to the movie I opted to add a scorpion pistol to his back. However, I wanted it to be removable as well ala the movie. That meant making a mold of the gun onto the figure that would hold the gun securely but I could still get it out. I then reinforced the mold several times over so I didn't have to worry about it cracking over time with the gun in there. To finishes that off, I then built up the base around the mold and sculpted it to look like a plate on his back. The entire time adding more reinforcement around the gun mold. The pistol won't come out unless I knock it loose. The problem is that I keep forgetting I put it there. So I keep knocking it out when I pick up the figure. I'm not at all concerned it will fall out on it's own in the future, but I'm going to bag it anyway, because I don't want to knock it behind the bookshelves and there's no way I'd move everything for a pistol. Lady Deadpool: Deadpool Corps sniper - The price on this figure finally dropped to a price I was willing to pay, but I hated the figure as soon as I opened the box. The red was too bright. The accessories sucked. It was just bland. Fortunately I had long ago decided it was getting customized to match my Deadpool anyway. I started with some accessories from X-23 and added them to the base figure. Then I added some ammo and a pistol. I thought about ditching the sword, but I like the idea of her having it as a last resort. To finish I gave her a boot knife, a grenade and some additional ammo rounds for the rifle. Lastly she got a full repaint from head to toe. So now that the figure was passable, I needed a story. Fortunately, I don't follow the comics so I don't have a deep understanding of what the Deadpool Corps is and I don't care to know. That leaves me a blank slate, so in my MU Lady Deadpool started as an ex-GRU sniper serving in hot spots from Asia to the Middle East. She was on assignment in Eastern Europe when she first ran into Deadpool. Wade had just decided to franchise his image, become a brand and was on the "D-Pooly Recruiting Tour" when the two bumped into each other. Wade instantly became enamored with the sniper when he watched her beat a low-level mob enforcer with a baseball bat until he gave up his boss. He started sizing her up for a uniform when he watched her blow up the enforcer's boss with a molotov cocktail after he gave up the goods on 'his' boss - a ruthless crime lord that had run afoul of the wrong people. Deadpool tailed her for two and a half weeks until she completed her job - a 1000 meter shot into a moving train killing the target with a head shot - where he recruited her on the spot. Deadpool being Deadpool he insisted that she "Wear the uniform!" She had initially refused until he showed her what her share of a typical job would be. Now, she complains, but every time he calls her for an assignment, she packs the uniform along with her rifle. Though she still wont answer when he addresses her as "Lady Deadpool". Jack O'Lantern - I've had this character in mind since I made Blackwing roughly 3 years ago, but I was torn on the overall design to make. I ended up giving my own flare to this costume design that I first saw in Captain America #396 (which is also where this version of the character debuted ironically). Regardless of the overall look, one major issue is I couldn't figure out how to get his pumpkin head to look the way I wanted it to. Eventually I got this head as an all black cast from Avacslab I believe. Added some sculpt for the flames and gave it a surprisingly quick paint job. It looks great in person! The laayered oranges blend perfectly. I sculpted some "scales" for the torso and added the grenades to his belt. I'm not making his little glider/top thing. It's ridiculous. In my MU it's been three years (comic years) since Jack paired up with Blackwing. They've since founded a successful criminal organization and have begun actively recruiting new members. Though small in number they've pulled off a number of successful heists and sabotage missions. Unaware by Jack, or Blackwing, they've both come under the watchful eye of the Red Skull who has begun forming plans for this small, but growing, group and will soon plant the first seeds for bringing them into his fold. Jigsaw - I got the head for this guy a long time ago from, Nomad I want to say. I painted it and had it sitting in a drawer until I finally got a suited body. I wanted to use a Marauder figure, but I could never catch them in stock. So once I finally decided to get the character made I just stuck the head on a Xavier body and swapped the hands. In my MU Billy Russo was a made man in the Costa crime family. He was only a few short years from becoming a top lieutenant to Costa when he ran afoul of the Punisher and ended up face first through a plate glass window. He was the lucky one, the attack on the Maggia night club was just the beginning... Russo ended up in a coma for the next two years while recovering from the facial injuries. During that time, the Punisher went on a murderous rampage targeting anything and anyone ever touched by Frank Costa. By the time he was done the streets ran red and the Costa crime family was all but wiped out. The few that remained were quickly, and quietly, removed by associates of the Kingpin who then moved in and absorbed the remnants of the Costa Family's territory. After two years Russo awoke to find everyone he knew dead, the Costa family name extinguished and what little power he had gone. Following the shock of what became of his former life, his mind broke completely upon seeing his ruined face. He developed a new personality and began calling himself Jigsaw. He's since become a new force in the NYC underworld, slowly accumulating a base of power until he can take back from the Kingpin what he considers "his". Hellfire Club Guards - They're no different than what I did last time. Still not liking the mask sculpts, but working on it. I made these two to round out the Cole/Reece/Macon trio. Although I'm good on guards with these 3, I might end up with more as I want to make a decent mask. It's a challenge now. Not much else to say. |
