1. He often works for Hydra, yeah. In fact, he's got a major thing for Red Skull's daughter, Sin.
2. That's Baron von Strucker, released in the first wave of Face-Off two-packs from Toy Biz way back in 2006, alongside an unmasked Cap.
4. Hydra does show up a lot in Cap and Avengers.
5. Madame Hydra, AKA Viper, from the Arnim Zola series

Jeddostotle7 04-12-2018 12:28 PM

I'd be willing to pay for a couple of those 2-packs if anyone is willing to obtain a couple for me. PM me if you are.

@Phantomcrow
I assume that was up north? Nothing at 95th or Nolan sadly. If anything, this just goes to show how poor their distribution was.

Augustus_Cole 04-12-2018 03:32 PM

anyone have a Nico they could trade, or for fodder, or one they've seen on sale someplace...? i really just need the head.

Was gonna answer, but everyone beat me to it...lol.

I don't have Madame Hydra, but to be truthfully honest, I never picked her up because I thought the figure was ridiculously hideous. Plus she's on that old Maria Hill/Black Widow body with those gangly proportions. I just don't think she warrants the price people want for her, especially considering how outdated that figure is.

I've thought of getting another Polaris figure to do a Viper custom, but since Hasbro has been remaking or re-releasing so many of their older efforts as of late, I'm holding out for now in hopes that we'll see an updated version in the near future. Been feeling the same thing with Emma Frost as well.

Zola is a great BAF that's highly under-rated. I recommend finishing him up!

And BTW, Dr. Mindbender works for that other ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world...which also happens to be named after a serpent...Cobra. :P

I've seen a ton of Nico figures for around ten bucks shipped on ebay.

I smell a custom...whatcha brewing?

Nico's head works great as an unmasked Mayday Parker if you're willing to chop off the ponytail and add some paint to the eyes.

i think i got madame masque in a trade if i'm not mistaken...i forget.
only had her for about a year.
and yeah she was\is something special in the face.
i had a convo with BlueMarvel ( I know your lurking in the shadows son..lol) about her face once.. he actual sent me a replacement head for her..but for the life if me i can't remember what the head was. I have to pull that figure out again.

i literally just got a leg for zola two days ago, so yeah i'm def looking for that last arm to finish him up.

i also have a crossbones on deck...as soon as i pull the trigger.

Cobra, duh. Because they always have the best inventions....even if they lose them within the same storyline. That and the flying mega huge snake air carrier. And Zartan. :D

An aside it always made me wonder they always had these incredible bases...where the frack did they get the money for that? I'm going by the TV show of course, comics were a completely different thing with their bases.

Edit: on the other hand, they also had losers like Crystal Ball and Big Boa.....

I actually thought of Raptor right after I edited once but I didn't want to go back and keep posting to losers.

Yes, Cobra has more than their share of losers, more than Hydra. But again, Cobra has the cooler toys.

Sorry ya'll I'm getting on my soapbox. Though my interests are mainly Marvel and Star Wars now, as a kid before I discovered the X-Men it was GI JOe first and Transformers a distant second due to breakage. I was rough with my figures.

Are these both organizations at the height of their power? Both have waxed and waned over their respective fictional years.

Cobra would have the edge in sheer overall assets, they have a seemingly endless supply of industrial/military assets, divisions of fighter planes, tanks of every type, etc. They even came up with a railgun design that impressed even Megatron (In the comics, it's Cobra that rebuilds G1 gun Megatron into the tank design that he'd later use to kick ass with). I mean, they could lose like 15 jets an episode and not effect their bottom line somehow! ;)

Hydra certainly has their own supertech, but I never got the impression that they had it in anything approaching equal quantity to what Cobra would routinely field and had available to them, they've got a few and can put up a fight, but not on the same level. However, where they excel is in infiltration (in terms of planting agents, subverting the goals of other organization, etc.), and in the capabilities of their "hero" units. While Cobra has specialized troops and soldiers with gimmicks, Hydra has literal supervillains. Several of whom can be a reasonable threat to the Avengers and other hero groups; Zemo put together the Masters of Evil, who was an anti-avengers team for example. Add in some heavy hitters like Absorbing Man and I don't think Cobra has any sort of a solution against him.

Military force to military force, Cobra would take it I'd say, they have a lot more specialized agents and troop variety, idealized for almost any environment and assault.

However, everyone on everyone all out everything on the battlefield at once, I'd say Hydra would win, just because of their supervillains being too overwhelming.

In a both organizations are on the same world suddenly (without their respective hero factions to slow or stop them) and we see what happens, it would be more interesting as both can infiltrate and subvert, and both would try to skew the odds to their favor before any large scale commitment of resources, but I'd still give the slight edge to Hydra just because that was their modus operandi for so long in the comics, while Cobra seemed to yo-yo between "evil" armed forces and other gimmicky applications that would use infiltration but not center themselves around it. After all, it's hard to get brand recognition on a logo to a secret organization. :p

BTW, just an armchair theory, in full disclosure, I'm pretty far from a big expert on either organization (Which for Hydra is pretty hard to do with all those decades of stories), but it's not like I had to google either organization either. So it's just how I see both organizations with what I've been exposed to over the years.

All Cobra's gotta do is play "Cold Slither" and they'll mind control everyone! :p

Admittedly, there's a big difference in if we're talking comic or cartoon Cobra. Both had elements of pure cheese, but the cartoons somehow got away with having both the best AND the worst ideas (sometimes in the same episode!) Also the point about the seemingly limitless funds as you also mentioned, they can lose rattler after rattler to no ill effect, and their bases were amazing. But the comic Cobra was more steeped in realism, somewhat anyways, but had more absurd characters vs. absurd ideas. I honestly would give cartoon Cobra a better shot at beating Hydra than comic Cobra. The main thing comic CObra has going for it is that characters are more ruthles; which was a necessity given that the cartoons had to show them in a more merciful light. I don't know if I'd say they are as ruthless as Hydra's leaders, and your point about supervillains is as big one, but I think their army gathering abilities were quite similar in technique and effect, so the rank numbers are probably fairly close. As you say, on personal battlefield Hydra may have the edge. Militarily speaking and especially long distance wise, Cobra might.

Plus, let us not forget about...Cobra-lalalalalalalalala!

Why would I make that up. Most ordering systems are done automatically. They only re-order things that are showing in the system as sold. So if they see the store still has a case or most of a case, the store wouldn't re-order any. The managers have a bit of a choice in what is carried in the store but all re-ordering is done without assistance. So if the figures are stolen, then the ordering system won't order any more and instead will send them to the stores where they are actually selling. If inventory gets done and the system gets updated, then you will see them come in again, if they are still available in the distribution center.

It actually explains why stores don't get in any more figures of certain waves while other stores keep getting them in.

Just my opinion here, but I think pegging the distribution problems on the concept of stolen items/returned stolen items is a stretch. Bought and returned maybe more so, but i would find it hard to believe that theft on that scale would affect stock so much. A slight bit yes, but like what was pictured I'm not so sure.

No offense intended. I mean, i disagree with the theory but I'm not saying you're wrong to have the theory.

kenm2474 04-12-2018 05:44 PM

Which came first X23 X-Force or X23 Wolverine? Trying to figure which is the Older of her.

According to Facebook, the Ant-Man and Stinger set is showing up in California TRU stores.

I wasn't trying to say this was the entire reason just that it was a factor in why they don't show up. There maybe more reasons why a distribution center doesn't send them when they should but this is just one example why.
