Should have jumped in on this sooner but I had a busy weekend. If I recall correctly, this wave was supposed to be some kind of "Best Of" wave that was exclusive to either WalMart or KMart. It was never released. Granted, all those figures were released on their own but not in these colors. I know there was supposed to be another "Most Wanted" wave that included a bunch of repaint of harder to find figures like the old ToyBiz Juggernaut in his X-Men colors. Here's a whole article from a few years ago.

It's funny beecause that Cyclops, repainted, would work really well now for 05 Cyke.

On an unrelated note: I'm hankering for leaks of 2019 waves. It's about that time of year some if the earlier stuff gets leaked/rumored.

Here's the new photomapped IW BlackWidow with her more traditional Avengers red hair.

Just picked up the Ghost Rider/motorcycle set. I couldn't help myself.

Congrats. I have passed on him a few times. I have the first version painted with white on his jacket as I really hate the blue.

snake5289 05-21-2018 02:06 PM

Agreed. I like the white more too.

To be perfectly honest I prefer the modern look that Johnny "borrowed" from Dan over his original 70s outfit but since they didn't go with that one I'll take what I can get.

I think almost every other TRU exclusive so far has shown up somewhere else. Wouldn't be surprised if this ended up at BBTS or Entertainment Earth.

Had it been a classic Byrne style Sentinel, I woulda been all over it like white on rice! But being that it's just a rehash of the inferior Hasbro Gigantic battles Sentinels, easy pass. The ol TB BAF Sentinel is still the best one ever done.

I really wonder what they are going to do with this set. I feel like if it was something I walked past on a toy shelf, I might want to pick it up. But if I have to special order it online, I’ll probably pass it just because of shipping alone. I don’t know about everybody else, but I feel like my local target and Walmart stores never carry larger size figures. Toys R Us was the only place that I would see the really big toys.

You’re not alone. TRU was really the only store that still carried the 12” Legends figures. A few Walmarts in my area sold the first three figures (SM, CA, and IM) but never ordered any of the figures that followed. And the Target closest to where I live has only carried the 12” Symbiote Spiderman and Black Panther.

Pravus Prime 05-21-2018 05:34 PM

If anyone posted this already, I apologize, but after searching I didn't find anyone doing it; anyone who has Infinity War Widow, have you tried the Winter Soldier long hair head on it and how does that work?

EDIT: I was linked to the review at Marvelousnews and yikes.

Parademon1 05-21-2018 05:40 PM

The news that a wave 2 vintage lineup of mostly long over due classic versions of Vision, Hawkeye, Antman, Wasp & BP is what I'm most looking forward to seeing at SDCC. Being that I just collect comic based classic figures in the ML line, I'm really hoping that Vision & Hawkeye are done right. Vision needs to be on the new Silver Surfer buck with new head sculpt with both fist & open hands. This is how the Vision needs to look.
https://i.imgur.com/KRMvxAL.jpg
Hawkeye needs a new headsculpt & bare arms with bands on them. Use the classic Namor arms as they already are sporting the forearm bands, just need upper arm bands. In this color scheme too!
https://i.imgur.com/rC8jsDG.jpg
Antman would be great on the new Sunfire buck imo. And come with a tiny version as well.

I already am quite satisfied with the classic Walmart BP we got last yr so I really don't see what they can do to make me buy another classic BP version unless they make him with the half mask sculpt & unmasked sculpt.

Wasp has had a ton of outfits but I guess my favorite is the classic yellow/red version. But my 3 main wants from this wave are Vision/Hawkeye & Antman to go in my classic Avengers group I'm assembling, can't wait to add the Black Knight to this lineup.

I bought the Universe Antman forever ago in the hopes of a new 6" one. So I'm definitely down for one of those.

You are going to LOVE Black Knight. He is indeed one of my favorite figures from 2018, so far. I really hope this wave is legit. Much like you, I think the Walmart exclusive Black Panther is the real deal for a classic ML collector. To finally get classic versions of Ant-Man, Wasp, Vision, and Hawkeye would be an added bonus to my Classics display.

Captain Nash 05-21-2018 08:33 PM

I know that others will differ in this but the Wasp that I'd love to get is the blue/white outfit she had. I think that was the barely produced chase figure from the last Toybiz wave - she had two variant chases but the red and black one, which I have, was at least obtainable without spending more than a paycheck in one drop.

MeLikeJinx 05-21-2018 08:44 PM

Boo! There should be at least one classic X-men per vintage wave IMO.

Also saw the Spidey Homecoming Marvel Legends Spidey and empty helmet IM 2 pack at ROSS for $10.99.

I can't seem to PM you, but if your near that ROSS ageing, would you be able to pick that up for me? Please?

If not, it's fine.

MeLikeJinx 05-21-2018 09:47 PM

^ Sorry bud, I don't really buy stuff for others since I don't live on the continental mainland. But if one ROSS store gets them pretty much all of them do... so maybe someone else with a ROSS in their state can help you out.

I didn't think that 2 pack was that popular, but I guess people want Tom Holland's headsculpt.

DarthKamen 05-21-2018 09:54 PM

Ah well. Thanks.

I live pretty close to a ROSS, I just never find anything there. At least, I haven't recently.

With sdcc just around the corner and more than likely with more information on Sony's "Silver and Black" coming, would it be too soon to ask that Hasbro release another Black Cat figure on anything other than the Moonstone body mold? Classic Cat, Kingpin Cat...I really don't care. The Moonstone body is a notoriously lousy one for anything other than having your figure standing there and looking pretty, as it's fragile and is very limited in it's articulation.

I was reminded of this tonight as I pulled my Black Cat out of the bin to try and snap a couple of a cool poses for some pictures. The only thing that snapped however were the legs at the thigh cut on both sides. This was at the slightest provocation as well, no force was exerted on the figure, and what's more, this is the second Black Cat figure I've owned that this has happened to. I had a similar thing happened with my Warbird figure back in the day as well (thank goodness I was able to get another one on clearance at Target before the price jumped.)

Thankfully, Vintage Widow isn't too hard (or expensive) to find, because I'm gonna have to kitbash the hell out of it due to all of the unique parts on Felicia's sculpt. They look like they match up for the most part when I lined them up, hopefully they work because Felicia is my fave femme fatale, along with one of my favorite Spider-Man characters out there, but there's no way I'm going through this a third time (especially when she still drives a hearty price on the secondary market...)

I believe there were only 12 of her made, if I remember what Jesse Falcon said correctly, just like the silver shirted Luke Cage :)

A few New York Comic Cons ago, some Toy Insurance agency (I think they were called Toy Worth or something) had a person's rare collection on display. That person's collection had the silver Luke Cage, the white and blue Wasp, an X-Treme X-Men costume Psylocke and a few others. I should look to see if I have pictures of them. It was very cool to see, but I can't picture dropping that much on a figure.
I think the most expensive figure I own is Dragon Man. I got him for $30. Lucky find.

Holy crap though great for that person who's able to spend that much on figures. I am passionate about my collecting but I can't see any way I would shell out more than $100 for a single figure, and those three were 10 times that, if I recall from seeing a few estimates and auctions.

Harbinger 05-22-2018 07:20 AM

Just a couple small mods i made to some figures. First is a better Domino. I gave her a pistol holster and a 9mm Beretta and an M4. Also gave her an X-Belt so she can stand in on the xforce team as well. Seriously hasbro how hard would this have been?
Next I gave Deathlok an unzombified head. I just want to have head that wasnt necrofied haha.
Last is an unmasked head for Gwenpool. Shes got the pink tips to her hair but the light obscures it some.
