That's definitely just the same as getting a face printed film version that looks like Zazie Beetz.
|
Thats wasnt domino....that was a reject from the 70’s. ;) i mean the actress would fit the role fine but she didnt look a thing like domino on. I mean if it was okay to make gamora green, despite zoe saldana playing her, then domino shoulda had the porcelin skin and black eye patch and no fro.

She was great in the movie, but definitely didn’t feel like any sort of representation of Domino. |

Agreed, I'd like to get the old SDCC one but it's ridiculously expensive, a new version would be great. |

No, it's close minded. Inflexible might be a better word, actually. There is literally no reason why a film version of Domino has to look identical to the comic version, because she isn't the comic version. None at all. She was still unmistakably Domino in appearance and personality, which is more important than lazily copying the comics.

Anyone finding blackdwarf wave in stores? S’nothing here |
So anyways i attended megacon in orlando yesterday. Mainly was doing alot of comic related things. Getting signatures and grading but i was also looking for figures. All i saw was the stuff currently available in stores and prices were $10 to $20 bucks more then store prices. So i ended up passing on all of that.

Totally agree. It's like making an Ironman movie & making the character look like Ultraman. But ya can't argue with the "I only watch & know the MCU" only crowd whom most have probably never read a Marvel comic book in their life & only know the characters via the films. They're the real knowledgeable marvel fans. |

Excuse me for not knowing as much as you do about comic books. |

Or the Thing and Hulk being too tall, for that matter.:p |

Contrary to what people think and how they like to spin it, it is okay to want your favorite characters on screen representations to look and act more like their comic book counterparts. I believe in creative liberties, translation to the big screen and all jargon, but it's really not appropriate to call someone closed minded or inflexible because they want their favorite character better represented on screen, in either look or actions. This is something Transformers fans have been stressing out about for years thanks to the piss poor ways they were handled onscreen. Yet, by your definition, we are being close minded and lazy to disagree with the notion that Grimlock might actually let Optimus Prime ride him like a pony into battle someday. |
Me personally, my litmus test is does the change actively hurt the story in any way. For instance: Tony Stark building Ultron instead of Hank Pym did not negatively impact the storyline in any way for me. Nor did Bucky Barnes being an adult soldier instead of a little kid with a costume (though Brubaker's retcons had been veering in that direction anyway) or Hawkeye not wearing a purple spandex costume.
There are actively instances of changes hurting the film however: Galactus being a cloud, Doctor Doom being a wimpy businessman, Dick Grayson being played by a grown man (thus calling into question why Bruce would adopt him in the first place), Barakapool, Baron Strucker being a wimpy scientist, ect. Changes like that usually affect the film by either wasting a character needlessly or greatly robbing them of their menace. For me, Domino falls squarely into the former. There's no world where I can reasonably say Domino being a black woman and having an Afro harmed the film. In fact she was one of them most consistently praised aspects of the movie. |

And hulk and thing should be tall...granted not frost giant tall but between ironan tall and hulkbuster tall for hulk and maybe undertaker baron corbin tall for thing. I mean things gotta be able to still get into bars for a beer. |
Really nothing you can do about it if that's your beef. Pretty much the only reason this whole thing even started is because you went and antagonized someone just for saying they wanted a figure of the character.
If you're upset about it, fine, whatever, but at a certain point it's spilled milk. |

Anywho movin on......no sign of black dwarf wave yet....anyone finding em? |
Does anyone have recs for good figure reviewers on Youtube?

Jayc is pretty good, as he gets all of the figures pretty early through his contacts, and does really detailed reviews, though his voice is kinda droning. Shartimus Prime also has a huge Legends focus, but he never seems to have anything bad to say about a figure, so it's hard to tell if he is being honest in his reviews at times, or just fanboying it up. |
