All good suggestions. My additions to the this list would be D Amazing, Unparalleled Universe, and Daredevil 19. If you’re looking for just Transformers reviews, then I would also suggest Peaugh.

I second D Amazing, although he doesn't do a whole lot of Legends reviews. Mostly Figuarts, MAFEX, Storm Collectibles, and Mezco.

Or the Thing and Hulk being too tall, for that matter.:p

Much of the MCU fanbase is fake geeks. You see this is the merch sales and toy sales. Domino does not sell for example. It does not help alienating long time fans for some virtue signal.

Check all the headlines from pro Solo reviews...the headlines tell a lot about the ideology of the Reviewers and the actual film.

Accuracy is very important. It starts very small, change something here and there, then it gets pushed on everything. I visit the UK every so often and well, lets just say a few years ago, the Vikings were portrayed very differently in a historical piece on the BBC.

Fans should be concerned at the path their characters take, especially seeing what Disney has done to fracture the Star Wars fanbase.

I love D Amazing. I do not trust any site reviews. I find website reviewers tend to cheer-lead and be overly positive rather than have objections. Much like many online movie reviewers...tread very carefully.

I want someone objective, so I rely on youtubers. I think D Amazing is great. My only guy I like that is on a website is really JC. Will not mention the site because I think ToyArk bans people or deletes posts?

I think JC is very objective and love his breaking news stuff. And D Amazing does great comparisons.

And of course when I want to be entertained, I go and watch some of the GREAT Glenn Webb....the BEST EVER and I miss the heck out of my friend.

Thanks for all the answers, folks. Yeah I'm looking for someone who does Legends and who might have reviews of some of the older ToyBiz 6" figs too.

Thanks!

Your best bet would be Shartimusprime if you're looking for reviews of older Legends. I'm not sure he's reviewed every Marvel Legends figure but he has been reviewing on Youtube for several year so he'd have more than most. If all else fails, you could ask us questions.

In practice, that just tends to mean “I’m always happy to signal how virtuous I am when they make another white character black.”

It’s actually kind of racist when you think about it, as though the producers are convinced that original or existing black characters can’t carry audience interest without appropriating a white character’s identity.

It’s kind of ironic.

I decided not to see the film after her casting (apparently finagled by Donald Glover) led to the death of a stuntwoman.

That's some f'ed up sh*t all the way around.

Dr Kain 05-26-2018 09:22 PM

Actually, yes, it does matter. Black Panther IS black, so he has to be black. Just like how Deadshot is supposed to be white. Human Torch is supposed to be white.

Now I can usually get over it once I see the character in action, but I still want them to be the same they are in the comics. I mean, would you want a black Peter Parker? A Mexican Logan? A white Kamala Khan? A white Virgil Hawkins? A black Bruce Wayne? An Asian Red Skull?

Hell, if they ever do Hindu gods, I want them to be blue skinned.

As for Domino, she was hands down the best character in Deadpool 2. It just would have been nice if she looked like she does in the comics.

Film Domino still looks like Domino, they just inverted the colours. It was a clever way of doing something different without actually deviating from the look that much. My "definition" ,which is hardly the most applicable term, is that it's ok to change a comic characters look for the film so long as they capture the basic essence of that look. Comparing that to Galactus being a cloud is completely ridiculous.

hasbroherofan 05-26-2018 11:08 PM

Thanks for the suggestions!

Wow you managed to hit every bingo slot with this one, huh? Conspiracy theories, accusations of "virtue signaling" and the classic "Well this is the REALLY racist" switcheroo. No it isn't. That argument only holds up if the film were being marketed on the characters, which is not the case since it's usually done to supporting players. And more specifically, it's Domino, a C-list character most of the audience likely has little familiarity with unless they were super into X-Force in the 90s, so using her name to "sell" a part for a black actor also doesn't hold up under examination. Open casting has been a thing in theater forever and is not unheard of in movies either. Sofia Boutella, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lizzy Caplan and even Sylvia Hoeks from Blade Runner 2049 were all in the running for the part before it went to Beetz.

Yeah I'm trying to fill some holes in my Avengers and X-Men line-ups and was wondering if you guys had a suggestion for which would be the ideal picks for Cyclops, Beast, Iceman and Angel, especially among the ToyBiz offerings.

To be honest, you don’t have a ton of choices with these characters. Most of your choices will have to come from ToyBiz’s X-Men Classics line or the rebooted “X-Men” line they produced a couple of years after XMC.

I’d pick the Jim Lee/90s Cyclops from XMC. Some one posted a pic a few pages back.
Marvel Legends Series 5 Beast. Although some people prefer the cat looking Beast from X-Men Series 1.
X-Men Series 3 Ice Man.
X-Men Series 2 Angel Bird of Prey. I never owned this figure but I did own the ML Angel and didn’t like him.

hasbroherofan 05-27-2018 12:17 AM

Thanks! I always liked the look of the XMC Iceman.

lordbest 05-27-2018 12:29 AM

Also, if you want more comic Domino, check out her new ongoing series by Gail Simone, it's great.

Found a Infinity War Black Widow and a Black Knight yesterday at a Think Geek store. Gotta build the BAF now.
Also, not figure related, I just got engaged!!!!

If your trying to build a good x team... it’s really a pain in the ass. Which era? What line up? Bald bishop, or mullet? A lot of hard questions o examine. Personally I’m going all hasbro for my x men, (except the mojo and sentinel BAFs which are just about perfect) my preferred cyclops is the warlock wave Jim Lee design, beast, I’m waiting on, you know hasbro is going to do a new one soon. Ice man I went with the juggernaut wave one and archangel from the hit monkey wave is stupid high priced, so I’m hopping he gets a redo in the next few years. There was a box set of the new/original team from TRU a few years ago if that’s your preferred look... has anyone tried to swap the bird wings from that set to the Archangel body? Just wonder if there’d fit.

I decided to go with the 5 Pack Iceman, because he is closer to his classic counterpart. He leaves a lot to be desired, but he works in classic display. Hasbro is slowly giving us the Jim Lee styled X-Men. Still missing Magneto, Beast, Storm, Jubilee, and Gambit. Really nice to see mutants getting some love again.

I believe so. I've seen several custom Magnetos use the Xorn head.

I feel ya. I've pretty much given up on the era specific approach just because of how spotty Hasbro's been with specific period looks.
