Originally I had no interest in Thor, but after IW he's probably my most excited fro the wave.

hasbroherofan 05-30-2018 06:08 PM

I was lucky they had him. He sells out fast and this was the last one at the Gamestop I stopped at.

Might be my favorite reply in this thread.

It's weird as hell to see anyone pushing back against fans of the movies and question their fandom like those cringey gatekeepers who skeptically quiz females on their knowledge of stuff. It's okay to let people enjoy things, guys. A lot of us have room in our hearts for both the comics and the movies, and it's very unlikely that any of us are going to "forget" what started it all and where we are when Marvel threads are the only active ones on this entire forum.
It's okay to think Domino as a black lady is perfectly fine.

Also?

Why do I own this goofyass thing?

Edit: Oh, right. To complete my Mantis BAF. So many great cosmic characters still to pick, and we get stuck with this dude. Did he do anything after Hickman's run? Or during? ZING.

He and his partner...Abyss I think was her name? She was much more human looking..but anyways, in the very basic, they went around and started and ended live cycles of various planets. not destroying the planet itself but the actual biological life. And recreating it. To be honest I enjoyed some aspects of Hickman's run (the incursions for instance and OMG Black Swan and yes we need a Black Swan figure!!!!) but some of it was too...intellectual for me for entertainment purposes. I followed it but it was at times like reading a science book. Which isn't really my thing but works for some.

Anyways much of what he and his partner did fell into the high brow part of his run. They started out as adversaries of a sort of the Avengers but very quickly became quasi-Avengers.

Of all the recent characters to show up in Legends, this was by far the most bizarre. This wasn't even like Ms. Marvel, Miles Morales or Gwenpool where the character actually had fans and was actively appearing somewhere.

It ranks up there with Hit-Monkey and Noh-Varr as the Protector in the odd flash in the pan choices.

Brownfinger 05-30-2018 08:06 PM

Completely slipped my mind that we got a Noh-Varr figure, that was an interesting wave. I wouldn't mind if they took another pass at him with his usual look, my collection needs more Kree in general.

An Abyss figure would have been so much better. And yes, Black Swan actually did stuff after they set her free, she would have made much more sense. Or Thane!
I read Hickman's Infinity in 2013 and the tie-in stuff, which I liked, and then missed everything he did between that and Secret Wars. The last I saw of them, they were taking off to do their own thing.
And yeah, Hickman had some wild ideas. Ex Nihilo always had a cool function, but his design leaves much to be desired.

I picked up a Vance Astro from Walmart for $5. I don’t know why I bought it, but I couldn’t leave it there. I have a sickness I think.

"I didn't want it until I saw it cheap" is the story of my life with this line. I just bought a 1st Appearance Iron Man because one of the vintage toy shops near me had it for 8 bucks, lol.

That Black Knight is the best fig in that wave, can't wait to snag it.

Parademon1 05-30-2018 08:48 PM

Hasbro couldn't give Sabretooth an alternate closed mouth head & fists?

Hasbro needs to give us another Zemo and crossbones. Some of us never had a chance to find him or weren't collecting when he was out.

I agree but the problem with changing characters in movies is that the comics tend to follow suit. To that point i bring up the nick fury issue. Once sam jacksons nick fury ( based on the ultimate fury not 616 ) became prominent in The movies....soon after the nick fury many of us have know for years was changed to make comic nick more movie like. And the old nick was more or less written outta the universe.
If the comics stayed independent of the movie designs thatd be one thing but for those of use who enjoy our comic versions only to have them altered to fit the movie versions its just not cool. Now had beetz been made to look more comic accurate( the porcelin skin, black spot over the eye and cropped cut hair ) then i suspect the ire of those not happy with the movie version would have been considerably less.

I ain't going lie, i miss the real fury though... while sam jackson is a great actor i would have much preferred the classic fury.

Hmmm...I don't think Samuel L Jackson is a great actor.

I had no real feelings towards the original Fury, but I do understand the love for tradition.

I think characters become almost unbearable when you have soooooooo many alternate versions and re-tellings and retcons.

snake5289 05-31-2018 10:31 AM

I miss original Fury too. I can remember back in the day when I saw him on the 90s Spider-Man cartoon I always thought Kurt Russell would make an awesome Nick Fury. Then I saw Escape from New York and that pretty much just confirmed it. They guy just rocks an eyepatch like no one else.

I'd love a classic Helmut Zemo, they could even include an alternate head to be Heinrich, but I'd also likely buy Helmut's Thunderbolts suit if they opted for that look (though classic would be preferred). I count Citizen V as a totally different thing so that's not what I'm referring to, I'm talking about Helmut Zemo as himself during the Thunderbolts like when he took possession of the moonstones, but getting a Citizen V figure would be cool as a separate thing. Getting a new comic Crossbones would also be nice since the only one Hasbro has ever given us is a bit dated.
