And I saw the unmasked head from the vintage one going for like 12+shipping by itself? Collectors are a damn fickle lot. I’m not really sweating finding the x wave at retail, Walmart’s already got slots for them, and even out in podunk I’ve seen the DP wave in its entirety at least three times. And the first time I found them only Paladin and x-23 were missing.

I can only speak anecdotally, but the entire Vintage wave has been sitting on shelves at all the stores I've been in on the East Coast and Midwest, while the Juggernaut wave Wolverine sold much quicker. I think it came down to a lot of people not wanting to buy an action figure they'd already just recently bought.

One word.....scalpers. Since the jug wave logan was much harder to find scalpers charge more. Since the vintage card wolvies are pretty much stagnating right now it commands a lower price. Reseller/scalpers........the turds of the collecting world.

My Asgardians plus Ares. I only own the MCU Hela, and I need to pick up Malekith, Ulik, and Bor. I’m surprised there hasn’t been a Heimdall yet. The Marvel Select Destroyer is a pretty decent figure, not the best articulated figure in the world. I need to hunt a Walmart Loki to replace my ToyBiz version, it’s nearly impossible to stand on its own and I’ve always liked the look of the Walmart exclusive that dropped before I started collecting.

That vintage Wolverine was pretty tough to find because of the unmasked head. I wonder how many people are like me, and own a second Juggs without a head. That BAF has been customized like crazy.

True enough (at least in my NY tri-state exp.), but the fact remains that paying $50 bucks for what can be obtained for $15-$20ish is a real head scratcher. As Kylactus pointed out, the Vintage version is superior (if only slightly). Unless the buyer is securing Juggs' noggin, I wouldn't call the purchase “fickle,” I'd call it stupid. But hey, I make plenty of stupid toy buys. So I who am I to judge?

MeLikeJinx 06-04-2018 08:42 PM

Oh wow... the new X-men wave is for July? Thought I had till August to rest... gotta get myself ready for the hunt then just in case they pop up early at Gamestop or Walgreens or something.

hasbroherofan 06-04-2018 08:50 PM

Slightly ot rant but I feel like Hasbro's practice of trying to double dip like this is quickly pissing off potential customers. It's getting ridiculous.

Hey here's a popular new character like Valkyrie. Want her? Well you also have to buy the Same Thor you just bought but this time his head doesn't come with a helmet. Want that unmasked Michael B. Jordan headsculpt everyone was asking for on Killmonger? Hope you like buying the same figure you already bought and a side character nobody asked for. New War Machine? How about a repainted Iron Man based on a suit that had 3 seconds of screentime too! Want an updated Doctor Strange with a more accurate facial likeness? Gosh, I sure hope you also want the same Iron Man you just bought and the Thanos BAF you just paid 120 bucks (At least) to assemble!

And like, I get it. You need a cheap reuse figure to offset the cost of a new figure. ToyBiz used to do the same thing. But with Hasbro it's different because it seriously seems like they're purposefully holding off on including accessories or features that should've been in the single pack release just so they can try to make you buy the same damn figure again two months later.

Definitely be vigilant at Gamestop. They've been really spot on about having rare figures from the last few waves, at least near me (that's where I just got Stormbreaker Thor).

I am hoping so for July. The Sasquatch Wave took way longer than I expected from Dorkside.

Dr Kain 06-04-2018 09:51 PM

I preordered the X-Men case of 8 at Dorkside, but I'm really hoping BBTS puts it up soon (Archangel, it might have been me you are thinking of as they took their sweet time to get my Lizard wave). Though, I'll go with whichever one gets them instock first.

HTS doesn't have any of the figures available.

I think the Juggernaut wave version generally had better paint. Granted, I only saw a handful of them in the wild whereas I've seen the retro carded version many times, but most of the retro Wolverines I've looked at have paint flaws and from the thigh swivel down his legs seem like they're a slightly different shade of yellow than the rest of his yellow parts. Maybe it's just me because I haven't heard anyone else really mention it but I think the Juggernaut wave version is superior. Having said that, if I didn't have the Juggernaut wave version I would definitely go for the retro Wolverine considering the price and availability.

Dr Kain 06-05-2018 07:27 AM

While I will agree that the paint apps were definitely better on the Juggernaut version of Wolverine, I prefer the Retro version because his lighter brown color matches the comic art. He also has hair painted on his arms. Oh, and the claws on the retro one are painted silver.

Preach! I've been saying this since 2016. Love me some MCU Marvel Legends, but they tend to be getting the most re-releases. Civil War 3 pack, Mantis wave Star-Lord, GOTG: Vol 2, 2 pack (which is the better of the 3 Star-Lord's), Homecoming 2 Pack, Ragnorak 2 Pack, Black Panther 2 Pack, Single carded Mark 50 Iron Man, and the Infinity War 3 Pack (That Thanos looks head and shoulders better than the BAF).

To quote Hurricane Helms, "what's up with that?"

Agree! Once we get a classic comic Thor, I would be perfectly happy for an entire year without a single Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Star Lord, Thor, Hulk and now even Black Panther and Dr. Strange. I know that's never going to happen, but I would be thrilled to see a lessening of these characters none the less. Not because I have any dislike for the characters (I don't) there's just SO MUCH.

We have the "I have to have every single version of said characters ever made" crowd to thank for that. Some of these people want a fig of a costume that might have appeared for 1 comic panel or was seen for 1 issue of a "what if" comic or appeared for 1 episode in a cartoon.

Boy Blunder 06-05-2018 09:23 AM

This is why fortune favors the patient. I took my sweet-ass time deciding on if I wanted a Killmonger, and waiting graced me with the reveal of that two-pack, which, while I don't really give two craps about Ross, I don't mind him per se. Just like I don't mind the chance to build a Stan Lee.

Just like waiting on Valkyrie resulted in the two-pack getting clearanced, and me selling that Thor on eBay for more than enough to make the initial cost very worthwhile.

I know that waiting can be a risky endeavor with this hobby, since it can sometimes result in losing out on a given figure while it's still at a retail price. But it can also pay off quite well, given the right circumstances. Hell, look at how many characters got recycled to some extent or another from the SDCC sets in recent years.

It's a business. If people didn't buy them, they wouldn't make them. It's that simple. It's why despite protestations, you're gonna continue to see them have a big presence. 9/10, a variant Spider-Man or Wolverine is gonna outsell Hercules or classic Wonder Man or Moondragon or whoever we're discussion this week.

I've started to go this route as well. I held off on Iron Man and Iron Spider specifically because I had a feeling there was gonna be an updated rerelease.

Harbinger 06-05-2018 09:58 AM

Not really legends but hot damn im stoked to have the fire valkyrie on my desk. And now i can make an unmasked deathstroke.....just need a good head that i can pass off as bennet.

We need that Classic Thor. I gotta have that in my display.

I get the new movie, new costume, new figure, but what they are doing is like “whoa, just let me get that with the single carded version as an accessory.” When I realized I didn’t need every figure, it really helped with collecting and money in my pockets. This really shows when I look at my comic book figures, because when it comes to them I stick as close as I can to the classics. But I’m missing Thor, Magneto, Dr. Doom, Professor X, Doctor Strange and so on. I wish Hasbro would not rely so much on rereleasing figures in those darn two packs and give us some classics baby. LOL, I’m just being silly now.

They really missed the boat in not giving us a classic comic Thor/Loki two pack or included in a wave last year.

Agree 110%. It's getting a bit out of hand. What makes it worse is that they keep putting these figures with BAF pieces/accessories/characters that people REALLY want.

I used to think it may have been a retailer issue. It's probably hard to convince retailers to sell a Thor-related 2-pack that doesn't have Thor, after all. But that excuse definitely doesn't apply to Black Panther. I wonder if Hasbro could toy around with the idea of doing multipacks that are a mix of comic and MCU. Maybe a Classic Thor to sell alongside Movie Valkyrie. You've got the Thor character in there, but you're not restricted to the movie design that you just made a figure for already. I mean, yeah there's definitely people out there that collect MCU but don't collect comics and vice-versa, but we already have to buy comic figures to build movie BAFs and movie figures to build comic BAFs so it's not that different.

Captain Nash 06-05-2018 10:59 AM

I'm seeing Star Wars SDCC reveals over at Fwoosh. I wonder if that means Hasbro will be showing us more reveals this week? Maybe we'll see what the Legends reveal is within a few days!

Obviously hoping for something I REALLY want, or something I don't want at all. Hoping it's not a case where I really really want just one figure and am meh on the rest. I think I'm seeing a trend of most SDCC over the last couple of years though, if it's just one or two figures you want, unless it's the really obscure ones, just wait for the single release.

hasbroherofan 06-05-2018 01:38 PM

That likeness is killer.

DarthKamen 06-05-2018 01:41 PM

Ughhh why couldn't that have been included initially?

I have a request, for anyone that owns it, does the Tom Holland head fit on the Iron Spider figure? If so could someone take a picture of it?

Thanks in advance!

hasbroherofan 06-05-2018 01:42 PM

Here’s the Stan Lee BAF.
