I see you're trying to egg on this weekends argument, debate or whatever you'd like to call it. Comichron is your friend go check out sales numbers compared to titles that actually attract a larger fanbase.

Just keep it moving son...

I was genuinely not trying to start/continue/reignite an argument, I was just noting that its sales can't be that bad if the title is celebrating its 50th issue soon... A comic just doesn't get to do that if it's not successful. I'd imagine it's one of the titles where the individual issues aren't great sellers, but it sells a looot of TPBs.

I’m amazed any comic gets past issue 24 anymore, it seems that every two years (if that) they restart at #1.

I miss the days of long numbers in comics.

I'm glad DC set Action Comics and Detective Comics back to their proper numbering in the 900s (adding in the number of issues after the New 52) during Rebirth, and seem to be keeping them there for the foreseeable future. It's also nice that they're letting all the series that relaunched or started during Rebirth just get higher and higher and number, even 2 years after, so we're seeing 30s, 40s, probably even 50s soon for some of the titles that were biweekly when they relaunched.

Meanwhile, Marvel just slapped some questionably-calculated "legacy numbering" on a bunch of their titles, and then did a confusing dual-numbering system for a little bit, and now seem to be abandoning it again after less than a year.

Ms. Marvel did get renumbered back to 1 after Secret Wars after 19 issues (because Marvel can't seem to go more than a year without renumbering half their titles for no reason), but it's been allowed to get to 31 without renumbering by this point, making for a total of 50 issues.

Thats why anymore i just pick up trades. Dont have to worry aboit numbers n junk. Just pick up a book and watch the fun fly.

If we were gonna fight about who deserves to be in ML based on comic sales, about half these characters would never get figures, regardless of the era they were created in. So it's kind of a pointless argument to keep having.

Buy who you wanna buy and don't who you don't. It's not as though there's a lack of product right now.:p

kylactus 06-17-2018 10:44 AM

Here’s the trick kids, eventually, if ML continues to sell, they will get to everyone. If they gave us, say, all the x men tomorrow, then what? It’s a long game. They need to ride the razors edge of exploiting a character to the extreme while they’re hot (looking at you DP) without creating total burnout for the line.

That's only a marvel thing. Majority of DC current titles are hitting #50. Speaking of restarting they literally decided to restart AGAIN hell action comics just hit 1000 recently.

Father’s Day haul! (my daughter had to get her Incredibles toy in there)

I had to go with Piledriver over Thunderball to finish Zola. Thunderball is just too damn expensive, but I am keeping an eye on EBay for him and Wrecker so I can finish the crew. Hercules is as a step into another old BAF, but I’m not sure how badly I really want to build Annihilus. The wing might go up for trade.

I was really hoping the extra Black Knight heads would fit King Cobra, since he’s likely to be dirt cheap here soon. I’ll be snagging a couple extra Knight bodies in a couple months to make use of those heads.

Like others have said, this wave’s Thor is the best of the MCU Thors. His stature and color palate are great. Widow looks like they pulled her straight out the movie. The heads sculpt alone was worth the purchase.

Hopefully I can wait for the bugs and evil elf to tank in price before finishing Cull. He is a load of a BAF.

Not only did it hit 1000, but it also did it in the year of its 80th anniversary. Detective Comics is about to do the same next year as well. I have to imagine that was at least part of the reason they set them both back to their original numbering.

That's incorrect.. once again gwenpool no longer has a series since Febuary of this year. Ms marvel is only on issue 30.

I was purely referring to Ms. Marvel, and as I mentioned in another post, Ms. Marvel is celebrating its 50th issue because it had 19 before the post-Secret Wars renumbering set it back to 1, so 19+31=50. If Marvel didn't force dumb relaunches all the time, it'd be at #50 next issue.

Big Wheel fellas, come on that's why they made the legendary riders series.

So a comic that has been running continually for the past 4 years with no change in creative team reaching its 50th issue that only isn't literally numbered at #50 purely because of a dumb editorial decision "doesn't count"? That's just silly.

Nah, what we really need is a US-1 figure, preferably with truck :p

Actually, that'd probably need to be something done through HasLab. How many people you think'd be willing to pony up, what, $200? for a hyper-obscure early-80s Marvel trucker character w/ truck/trailer? 5? maybe 6?

Pravus Prime 06-17-2018 04:15 PM

My Ant-man and Wasp figures came today from Amazon.

Wasp is great, though the odd pelvis detracts a bit. Love the accessories with this figure, always do when they go out of their way on a figure to give a lot of meaningful accessories.

Ant-man is OK. Mine has some minor QC issues; I had either a seam or a paint tear on the shoulder that I had to cut away, there's some sloppy paintwork here and there, nothing real bad, in fact in kind of looks like wear and tear to the costume.

I'm glad I've got them (and in advance of the movie), at this point I could put up an Avengers 1 cover with MCU figures instead and I think that's pretty cool. It kind of sucks that I've got Thor and these two, as it means I've got limbs, but no torso to start building the BAF with. With the multi-packs coming up among other things, I'm probably done getting figures for a while. I had hoped to score Black Knight, but GameStops are virtually totally cleaned out around me, the closest one is 40+ miles away with it in stock and the only other one is out of state. I had gotten Thor right away as he was my biggest want and I figured GameStop was just in advance. Amazon having them for MSRP made getting Wasp and Antman easy, I'm going to wait on demand to settle down as I suspect Malekith will eventually be the cheap figure on Amazon and the like. I wasn't expecting Black Widow to stay in such demand, but I was hoping to do the same with her, waiting until demand settles down and then getting her for cheap. However, I didn't expect the complete lack of not-Gamestop stores to get them; even Meijers had Black Panther and Infinity War wave 1 right away when they came out, but haven't gotten squat, which is unusual for them.

It doesn't matter what issue Ms. Marvel is on, Kamala Khan is trash.

So because YOU think it's legacy it must be true ? Funny because her last issue, which once again was #30 doesn't show any legacy number but all other series that continued actually did... here's an example below. I'm sorry to say but your thoughts don't override Marvel comics.

Notice the corners of both issues it's quite it's right up front. there is no legacy numbering on kamal but on Venom there is.

I'm not gonna get into that dumb argument and let the thread get derailed again, I'm just gonna say that your specific opinion of her comic is irrelevant to the discussion, which was about how popular/successful she and her comic are, and how that relates to who """deserves""" a spot in the line. That original convo seems to have ended anyway, so let's just drop the topic altogether and instead discuss a better topic: just how obscure a character needs to be before we're almost entirely certain they'll never be made.

Also got these from Amazon. Nothing worth complaining about with mine but between the two I think Wasp just came out better. This is mostly because Ant-Man is lacking in the accessories department. The doofus smile Paul Rudd head looks nice and is a notable stand-out compared to the more subdued expressions the other performer based heads tend to use so that's cool but some alt hands would've been nice too. One thing I wish each figure had was a small shrunk down version of themselves (or their partner).

You kind of already derailed it when you wanted to debate why kamali is a worthy figure.
