Although I do like the Kylo design, he doesnt quite seem to fit. I would rather have the Heavy Gunner or Phasma first.

dukefett 05-23-2019 09:44 AM

Kylo is the only ST figure I'm mildly interested in this line.

Dolemite 05-23-2019 10:02 AM

I wish Kylo looked like that in the actual movies. Wow.

0reser0 05-23-2019 07:13 PM

Kylo looks plain but that sword looks good.

JerpJerp 05-23-2019 10:58 PM

Same camp.

i feel like sh figuarts is the closest to natural and authentic as it gets with realism replication. I don't really see the nit picky stuff as stylization but limitation.

JerpJerp 05-23-2019 11:23 PM

Comparison time!

Is EVERYBODY NUTS or just me?

I'm seeing it as extremely accurate compared to the movie. Look at the comparison. The movie version looks almost slightly bigger.....

The helmet seems normal compared to the ROTJ Vader from Hasbro which looked atrocious. I find it strange as well that other people say that the helmet looks odd.

Leo Primus 05-24-2019 06:39 AM

The stormtroopers' helmets still look wrong though. Why would they even make the mouthpiece a separate part?
At this point, why not just scan the actual helmets. Helmet printing technology, yo.

I personally think the initial Hasbro sandtrooper helmet is still the most accurate 1/12 version. It's a damn shame they remolded it for the regular trooper figure.

That sandtrooper amazes me, and a dooback to go with it? wow. I have three now. I have to resist buying more.

BTW, everybody! bandaionline.com has both Darth and the new STORMTROOPERS on pre order for $50! I haven't found any price lower.

Looking pretty good to me.

RamenRider 09-27-2019 05:03 AM

Another Rey, another Kylo, another Trooper. Meh.

All look great don’t get me wrong, but nothing here is exciting to me. I hope they do the Mandalorian eventually, that one could be cool.

Official site is here by the way, https://tamashii.jp/special/sw/ , and there seems to be some bonus-thing with stands gong on: https://tamashii.jp/event/429/

yeah pretty much.Between SHF, Mafex and everything else...been there, done that. And nothing against the red trooper design but I'm already sick of seeing it. Maybe if they made some of the knights of ren I'd be interested

Dr Kain 09-27-2019 06:16 AM

When are the Figuarts going to do Palpatine or Lando?

webz 09-27-2019 06:52 AM

These look really good. Almost tempts me.

dukefett 09-27-2019 07:32 AM

I'm just gonna wait on these. The stands are neat but I definitely don't need them.

ddarko 09-27-2019 08:43 AM

Rey’s face has texture, but the rest of her body does not? Looks weird....

1/6 figures do that all the time.

Meta 09-27-2019 10:44 AM

Loving that Rey and Kylo figures. These always look better then the Black Series figures.

I want to see how the trilogy ends before I decide if anything from it is worth owning.

This sums up how I feel, more of the same from Figuarts. Surprised they didn’t do Zori Bliss. She has a cool design and has a different colour scheme than most in Star Wars.

Zori Bliss would’ve been interesting for sure. Not to me, her design makes me think "Generic 90's Sci-Fi Show" more than it does Star Wars, but I still would’ve preferred to see something new regardless.

That being said, there's probably more coming, and these characters are a major focus of the movie so of course they are revealed first.

Yeah, Bandai in the last two or three years has really gone to the shitter in my book. They're always doing the same characters over. Iron Man, Godzilla, Rey/Kylo/Troopers, Goku, Vegeta, etc.

They started to do a really great job with their Ultraman line and then they had to go and sabotage that and stop doing monsters/aliens.

Then you have other lines where they can't even be bothered to release the full main cast such as with TMNT, Lupin III, Cowboy Bebop, Sailor Moon, etc.

They also haven't done a Kamen Rider villain in several years and the last time they did a ranger from Sentai was in 2014.

Your "book" is a broken record which always plays the same old song, and is effectively titled "Tamashii sucks because they don’t cater to my specific demands".

Except when they're not but we're ignoring that, as always, right?

Also, oh no: A company dares to do what works and prints them money. The horror!

They started to do a really great job with their Ultraman line in late 2017, when they finally began making new-age Ultraman stuff, aka the characters which are still relevant today and don’t feed off of blind nostalgia. Said nostalgia being pointless now that they already used the big anniversary to do a good number of classic aliens and monsters.

By the way, classic Black King came out two months ago, so how have they stopped doing monsters?

Gee, I wonder why. Probably because this stuff just doesn’t sell well enough to support a full lineup for each? Nah, can’t possibly be that, Tamashii is just evil and mean.

Ohma Zi-O came out like last week, Evol is out in November. They made a dozen Genm and a Para-DX.

Those aren’t villains? Oh wait, you mean the Showa-stuff right? Which obviously didn’t sell and they canned the plans of doing more because people weren't interested? No, once again, evil company being mean, there can't possibly be a reasonable explanation for this.

Yeah guess what, because they sold absolutely terrible. Because Sentai as a franchise is currently on the verge of dying. Each iteration is slowly doing worse, LuPat was at an all-time low, now they're busting out the dinosaur-theme again in a desperate attempt to stay afloat.

But hey, let’s make collector-oriented figures of these again and let people buy the same 6 figures with different headsculpts, what could possibly go wrong?

You might want to pull that stick out of your ass. I have no idea why you are being a jerk.

Quote:

Clearly you don't understand what I mean. Okay, ignoring KotM, when was the last time they did a non-Godzilla esque MonsterArt for the Godzilla series that wasn't just a repaint? ALso, how many versions of Iron Man have they done compared to say Thor or Black Widow? Also, when was the last time they released an OT Star Wars dude that wasn't a redo or repaint?

I don't even get what you mean here. What does nostalgia have to do with anything?

Quote:

Good point. You're right here.

To be more specific then, they haven't done anything for Ultraman 66 nor Ultra Seven in over a year now.

Quote:

Then they shouldn't bother doing them at all. If they can't commit to releasing figures of at least the main cast, don't do it. Now for Sailor Moon, they got most of the main cast, but they never bothered to do any villains outside of Black Lady. They even showed of Wiseman and did jackshit with him. They also didn't do the Starlights nor the Crystal version of Tuxedo Mask.

Quote:

I guess I should have been more specific for Kamen Rider. I meant actual monsters, not just evil Kamen Riders.

Quote:

Oh wait, you mean the Showa-stuff right?
No, I'm talking about the Undeads, the Grongi, the Unknowns, etc. Not just Shocker minions.

Quote:

Yeah guess what, because they sold absolutely terrible. Because Sentai as a franchise is currently on the verge of dying.
That's because they couldn't commit to releasing an entire team. Who the hell wants to buy half, if that, of a ranger team? They should have just done box sets for the ranger teams, especially when all they needed to do was create two bodies, a male and a female one and the only difference between the bodies was the paint job with the helmets being the only unique sculpt.

Quote:

That's because they're too busy focusing on gimmicks instead of actually evolving the show. First order of business they need to do is stop kiddifying it with silly over the top antics. Secondly, bring back the ability that monsters can actually kill people. Third, the villains need to go back to being a threat AND be characters again. Every series after Go-Busters has made their villains be nothing more than wallpaper and it is getting worse with each series. Hell, currently in Ryusoulger the MotW have no personalities, they're just mindless beasts without a presence and they aren't doing shit with Kreon and Wyzul. We don't even know how the main villain leader is yet either and we're halfway through the show.

Quote:

But hey, let’s make collector-oriented figures of these again and let people buy the same 6 figures with different headsculpts, what could possibly go wrong?
At this point, I will never trust Bandai again with Sentai, so I don't care what they do. I'm solely supporting Hasbro now as they have already done more with the Lightning Collection in 6 months than Bandai and Tamashii have done in the last 10 years.
