Finally got to appreciate X-Force Deadpool and Deathlok :D

Have fun!

One of my favorite Apocalypse stories was a few years ago called Blood Of Apocalypse. Salvador Larocca did the artwork and the story involved Apocalypse taking some of the X-men and making them Horesemen. Gambit became Death, Polaris became Pestilence, and Sunfire became Famine (aka Age of Apocalypse Sunfire but evil).

Here is a link to a very good history of Apocalypse and story summary of Blood of Apocalypse.

Found the Multiple Man unmasked head works great for unmasked Black Knight. Fits perfect on the peg too.

Groot used to actually speak, both back in the Silver age and when he resurfaced for Annihilation: Conquest. The character actually used to say some pretty badass and hilarious shit. For whatever reason, it was decided that he'd be better portrayed as a one note foil for gimmick comedy. **Shrugs**

@BadMoon

That's a great stand in for Dane's mug....you've created a difficult choice for me.

Well, since I'll be getting at least three Madri as it is... I may make use of this!

Grabbed up a black costume Daredevil and Elektra from a local Gamestop. I enjoyed the look of them and decided that I'll just have extras whenever my SP//dr wave ships.

Got to chatting with one of the employees there about Gamestop's pending influx of merch and customers that would have previously gone to the now defunct TRU. Pretty amiable bloke who gave me some projected arrival times for the Deadpool, Venom, and Xmen Legends waves. Oddly missing was Omega Red...go figure.

Edit: North East, specifically NY/CT/NJ

I’ll definitely check that out, good art is a must for me

Huh. Well, different strokes, and all that!
It never occurred to me that a huge tree speaking only his name would be viewed as a cliche by the movie-going audience, but that's an interesting take. Gunn was really just trying to emulate the character from Abnett and Lanning's run at the comics, and I suspect he thought that it would be profound if he could bring emotional depth to an inarticulate being. I think he succeeded and the widespread fascination behind the character seems to at least somewhat support this. It's very rare for me to hear from people who don't like Groot, so I like to hear differing perspectives on it.

And Groot recently had a kind of "factory reset" performed on him in the books by his creator, so now he speaks again! So there's that. :D

Aaannd now I'm appreciating Cable.

My original plan was to just collect a few figures, but just as in the good ol' days, once I have one, teams must be completed to the best of their abilities! *gulp*

Have fun, all!

One reason i will most likely not buy legends from Gamestop is that $22.99 pricetag. Ive almost pulled the trigger at Gamestops before, but why bother when everyone else has em at $19.99?

I try to only buy hard to find Legends at Gamestop, like I've yet to see X-force Deadpool in person except for when I picked him up at Gamestop so I feel fine with the minor mark-up. X-force DP happens to be $16 on Amazon now but I also had the benefit of checking paint in person.

I feel you, but I bought a stupid $8 Playstation sack which made the figures $17 each (25% off of all collectables with baggie purchase)....yes, I know, I spent the same amount of money as I would've sans discount (hey, I got a bag now)...I just couldn't validate buying an extra DCUC Mr Myxlplyx, which would have upped my savings...although, I'll likely go back and get him at full price even though I have him already (you see, mine has this little paint smudge and...).

**hangs head in triple shame**

Great Pic By the Way.

I did not. I've been playing with adjustment layers in Photoshop to give pics a more cinematic feel, so maybe that's why he looks custom-ish.

And thanks :D

Have fun!

The irony is the same thing that happened to TRU might happen to Gamestop... and maybe within the next five years too depending on who buys them out. At any rate... with Gamestop being in the game maybe it will discourage scalping... not like there will be any more TRU exclusives and those were the ones that were scalped the most I think. Secondary market values on recent Legends figs are shockingly low compared to how they used to be.

Jeddostotle7 07-08-2018 08:38 PM

Hmm... Looking at reviews of the Marvel Stud10s Civil War Cap & Crossbones 2-pack, I'm reminded of how skinny that old MCU Cap body is. I think when I get mine, I'll also get an extra Infinity War Cap to customize into a better proportioned/bulked-out Civil War Cap to slap the new heads from the 2-pack onto.

Eventually.

When I learn how to do minor sculpting.

Or paint.

DarthKamen 07-08-2018 11:25 PM

I really hope we get a MCU Ghost in some kind of multi-pack soon. I love that design so much.

It is a very good design, and would make for a great figure. We also need Quantum Realm Janet, as well as possibly Hank in that Quantum Realm exploration suit.

I could also go for a young Hank head for the Ant-Man from the 2-pack with Yellowjacket, and maybe a Janet Wasp figure.

I haven't seen the movie yet (no spoilers guys) but from the trailers she at some point has a motorcycle. So as long as that was actually in the movie they could use it as an avenue for the first MCU legendary rider pack.

To avoid spoilers (not that there's many spoilers involved in the scene I'm discussing anyway), I'm just gonna say her time on the motorcycle is very brief and not really integral to the character; if we're gonna do an MCU Legendary Rider, I'd think Nat with her motorcycle from Age of Ultron, WWII Cap with his bike from First Avenger, or civilian Cap with his bike from Winter Soldier would be better choices.

Damn, now I need some Avengers in civilian clothing.

Gamestop could definitely tank, but people have been predicting their demise since Dematteo and other executive chairs sold off their stakes in 2014. Mauler's abrupt departure doesn't help matters either, but somehow Gamestop manages to limp on. In my opinion, this isn't a matter of what firm buys them out or who heads the turnaround as much as it's a symptom of the painfully slow death of brick & mortar retail.

Those secondary market rates and the activity of scalpers are both going to see a significant uptick if Hasbro doesn't get distribution sorted. In the wake of TRU's implosion, Hasbro needs to get serious about getting product into the hands of consumers. All the peole complaining about too much merch (I agree, actually, I was there a year or two ago - the internet has no memory) may be singing the opposite tune 6-10 months down the road.

I'm sure there's more to it than I'm thinking of but I don't understand why Hasbro's website isn't more geared towards collectors. New waves of Legends pop up for minutes, het sold out, then rarely get restocked. You would think they'd have a way to allocate more figures to the website, and they could even restock older waves (the Warlock wave popping up at Walmart again would probably sell just as well if not better on thier website of it was more collector friendly). Hell, make it like a good version of Mattycollector and only stock collector's toys, lord knows people that wanna buy a Mr. Potato Head for their kids or a Nerf gun are just gonna go to Amazon for the cheapest price anyway :D

I agree there! I would buy from them more often if I knew I could get stuff there. I recently ordered 2 Transformers from them and they arrived a day later. That's pretty solid!

Oh alright. I just hope they don't pull the usual routine and make Ghost in a two pack with the Ant-Man or Wasp that we just got, assuming Ghost even gets made.

Black Arbor 07-09-2018 10:51 AM

If they were gonna do a Legendary Riders Captain America I'd love for it to be Ultimate WWII Cap with the helmet and triangular shield and a classic motorcycle... Ahh, to dream...
