Check out Storm from the Jubilee wave, it's criminal.

I'll repeat what I expressed a few days ago, the dissolution of TRU combined with Hasbro’s consistent (sometimes, seemingly manufactured) distribution woes will reinvigorate price gouging in the second hand market.

You mentioned Mystique, and my heart suddenly dropped, as it would totally be possible to squeeze another Rogue into that Captain Marvel wave as well, hopefully in her late 80's green and black "Outback" wear...

My Cap and Crossbones two pack arrived today courtesy of Hasbro Toy Shop. Here's some shots and thoughts...

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1782/...e31e8d_k_d.jpg

Cap: I'm saddened to say that while I hoped that this figure would be an all new, more accurate sculpt (like the Infinity War figure) it literally is the same exact figure we got with the Abomination wave, with some changes in color and those comically undersized hands.

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/917/4...a1f1af_k_d.jpg

The figure itself boosts a slightly duller color palette than the Civil War Cap however, and for the most part, is painted well. However like that previous Cap, there is still QC issues with the paint, where there are lines that could be cleaner or colors that could be better painted in (such as the whites.) The shield is an all new sculpt, with the segmented star, and is painted with a very shiny metallic paint. Almost too shiny for my tastes. Mine also had a chip in the paint on the shield right out of the package, so I immediately swapped it for the shield that came with the Civil War cap, which had a duller finish.

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1790/...c0708d_k_d.jpg

My Cap also had an issue with the helmeted head. The helmet itself is a two piece sculpt (think of the helmet as a hairpiece) and as you can see, mine was not glued down far enough. It really bothered me, and with the higher price we are paying for these "10th anniversary" figures, I expect better. It bothered me so much, I had to peel the helmet off, shave down the head underneath a bit, and re-glue it back into place so that it would sit properly on the head.

Lemme get this out there though, despite this being a re-issued Cap, this right here is the whole reason I dropped money on it in the first place...

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1766/...1df260_k_d.jpg

The "Steve Rogers: Agent of Shield" look has been my favorite MCU look for Cap since I first laid eyes on it, and the new heads work almost PERFECTLY for it with no modding required. The helmeted head is a very close match to the blue of that costume, and the unmasked head...it speaks for itself. It sits a little low on the neck peg, which effects the articulation a little bit, but to finally get the look that I've wanted for this figure since it was originally released, it's a demon I'm willing to live with.

It doesn't fit on all of the previous Cap figures though...but if you were willing to mod them, here's how they were to look.

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/915/2...ff681e_k_d.jpg

That said...if I can get my hands on another unmasked head sculpt, I'm modding the hell out of my classic MCU Cap...

HTS order came in. I really like them but the set isn't perfect, mainly due to a lack of accessories. It would have been cool if Crossbones also came with the compact gauntlets and a rifle. Cap's shield looks very nice and in hand this is the best Chris Evans Hasbro has achieved so far, it's not the best likeness but compared to previous attempts it's at least clearly supposed to be Evans. Crossbones just looks cool and his gauntlets are a soft enough plastic to make fighting poses easier to get. I'm not sure if it was quite worth $50 but I'm very pleased with this set.

Forge!!!!!!!!

Trivial Psychic 07-12-2018 06:25 PM

And now...Crossbones...

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1809/...dc76a8_k_d.jpg

Not gonna lie...this is a very cool MCU figure that we SHOULD have gotten way back with the Abomination wave, but I'm glad we finally got him now, as I can imagine he wouldn't have been done justice then. The amount of sculpting and paintwork on this guy is really impressive, and the likenesses on both heads are really, really good. The gauntlets are removable, as is the vest, and feature some really good washes and dry brushing throughout...

But, now the elephant in the room...I really wish Hasbro would stop sculpting guns that cannot be removed from a figure. Dammit, if you were able to do it with your 3.75 inch Pursuit of Cobra figures, you can sure as hell do it with a figure twice their size. Crossbones also has no trigger fingers...which I can understand why (since his primary weapon is the gauntlets,) but I wish that Hasbro would have been a bit more forward thinking on this one, because someone should have realized that there will be some of us out there what will want this guy posed with an assault or sniper rifle of some sort. I immediately modded mine (which is visible in the pictures) but the point is...I shouldn't have had to.

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1829/...0fef92_b_d.jpg

That said, despite my gripes, I'm VERY pleased to finally have Crossbones with my MCU grouping, and while the Cap figure overall was a let down due to it being a reused figure, I'm very happy with how the two head sculpts came out, especially since they work with the Winter Soldier Cap, giving him the movie accurate look that I've wanted for years.

DarthKamen 07-12-2018 07:00 PM

Is that window and wall that he's sniping out of a custom diorama?

The gauntlets are nice but him with that gun just look perfect IMO.

MeLikeJinx 07-12-2018 07:01 PM

Man... did Hasbro purposely make Infinity War Cap's Chris Evans head look like crap so people would be forced to buy the 10th anniversary pack? It just looks so much better. I am holding out for Infinity War Part 2 ML Chris Evans... hopefully he doesn't put the mask back on for Part 2. LOL.

I never understood why Rogue wasn't the star of that wave to begin with. I mean she is such a perfect representation of early 90's Rogue. And you also just knew Hasbro was gonna re-release the heck out of Deadpool and Wolvie.

Same here. Up until then I collected mainly just Joes and MU and only had one Legends fig... ML Archangel because he is my all-time fav. But as soon as I saw Rogue I was like... that's it... I'm in this 6" scale collecting thing.

The window is the dio piece that came with the Marvel Select Black Cat.

The assault rifle came from the Black Widow/Winter Soldier TRU 2 pack, while the sniper rifle came from some Walmart generic 3.75 military style figures.

DarthKamen 07-12-2018 08:14 PM

Ah, thanks!

En Sabah Nerd 07-12-2018 08:27 PM

I figured I'd try my hand at taking some action shots of Cap fighting Crossbones.

You know, I've been actively trying to avoid MCU figures, just because I've a feeling there's no returning from that rabbit hole. But those head sculpts on Cap and Crossbones are darn-near perfect!

Must. Resist.

For tonight's pic, we have good ol' Scott Summers, when everyone could agree he was a good guy, prepping for a fight!

Have fun, all!

Silk has been fairly expensive for a while due to that alternate head.

That Rogue body sculpt hasn’t been reused since it’s release if I’m not mistaken.

Picked up Jim Lee/90's Wolverine today and really like him (even though he could have easily come with an unmasked head/pulled down mask like the retro brown and yellow Wolverine

However his claws seem really loose and move around quite a bit, is this normal? They looked a like more sturdy in pics i've seen. Just wondered if anyone else's Wolverine is like this?

Most of our wolverines are so unsturdy they are both intangible and invisible. However I've seen on the other forums that this has been an issue.

Other than the upper arms, her body is the same one that's been used for the likes of Captain Marvel, Lady Loki, and so on - the bustier female mold with bicep swivels (only other female mold to have those is the Red She-Hulk). So it's been reused since then.

Unless I'm misreading you there.

Does anyone know if the 90's Wolverine claws are removable like the Juggernaut wave yellow/brown costume version?

Yes.

And to answer your other question, my Wolverine also has claws that are a bit wobbly as well.

VashTS 07-13-2018 01:09 PM

I bought like 6 Lee Wolverines so far. I think I am done there.

Magneto was a big disappointment. Hasbro skimped on the pain as I see lots of black polking through. Those powers are the worst. As soon as you move the figure, those effects fall from his hand. It's really too soft and gummy. Bought it for the name and look, dislike it for the execution.

Nice shots, but there’s just something strangely un-dynamic about the way they sculpted Crossbones’ legs.

It personally doesn’t bother me but the legs resemble the GI joe 4inch figs a bit. But speaking of my set is supposed to be here soon from Hasbrotoyshop. Can’t wait.

Spyne98 07-13-2018 04:24 PM

Hasbro put out some preview images for the next transformers line. I wonder if they will put anything out for marvel legends before SDCC begins.

Ah ok thanks, glad its not just my figure although I wish they could have made the claws a little tougher

So, my areas not seen the lizard wave, sp//dr, apocalypse, venom, or infinity war wave 2, so what does our Walmart do? LOAD THE DAMN PEGS WITH THE BACK IN BLACK DEADPOOL! Three freakin cases! That’s two more cases than they stocked for IW wave one, and one more case than they got for the Sasquatch wave. Seriously WTF man? One character, whose over marketed as is, in a costume no one would recognise will kill any chance of us getting the wave of the week for the next 6 months!

Retail has its head up its ass so far it must be permanently stuck there. No wonder stores are closing left n right.
