I've been buying less legends. I think I'll be out this year or the next and focus on neca and the foot long scale.
Even with no price hike...seeing what the comics are pushing...yea I'll be done sooner than later. |
I remembered when the10th anniversary started and heard EVERY toy site claim this was an "apogy" wave....i Lol. Then i heard the pricing and ROLLED AND lol.
They were clearly testing the waters and all the toy sites were all pretending Hasbro was doing the fans a favor by releasing these anniversary figures at a higher price point. Good luck with legends cause I'm done. I got my Jim Lee, my Mcfarlane, Apocalypse, thanos.....If i need something in the future, I'll buy a Marvel select. |

Key points for me on that survey. Voted the most negative on chase figures. to hell with that practice again.
Don't give any care towards the packaging, but then again I'm not a MIB collector. Would definitely buy less figures if there were no BAF. The rest I was pretty open to a $5 increase if better character assortment and figure quality, more accessories with a BAF piece. Getting less for more cost though isn't something I'm keen on. |
Any price creep is very bad sign… Look at their Star wars figures. When the Black Series was announced, the $20 price was justified by Hasbro as being a premium collector series, offering multiple accessories to create an “ultimate” version of a character. Wave 1 Darth Maul for example, included the binoculars, cloak, alternate head sculpt… if Maul came out today, it would just be a figure and lightsaber in the package. If a $5 price jump happens and we see “premium” deco and accessories, those things will disappear within two waves. And I don’t see how a cost increase would impact character assortment at all.

The BAFs are no longer Bafs...but regular sized figures. Was that Apocalypse really a BAF? It's less height wise than a lot of regular figures and has much less paint deco.
I am very tired of Spidey repaints and the more I think about it, the more I think I am done with Legends. Had a nice run....but this year was the first where I didn't buy every figure or completed most BAF's. I am someone who always build 2-3 Bafs per wave. I think I may be finished and the questions geared towards the price hike was the nail. Everything is essentially MCU and the MCU is about to let the poop hit the fan starting with Cap Marvel. I think it was a long time coming as I am also tired of hero movies....but that's a different side story. |
Not every BAF needs to be some giant figure though. Apocalypse is most certainly a BAF.

I think another thing to think about BAF is the uniqueness of the mold. It allows for characters that would never get a single carded release based on lack of mold reuse, much less size. We'd never have gotten a Sauron on single card for instance.

I'd take my figures in a cheap cardboard box and accessories in a ziploc bag if it meant more hands, heads, weapons and unique sculpts. The problem with that, of course, is I think it'd be unlikely we'd see anyone who isn't A or B list. Though I'd love it if Hasbro proved me wrong.
Oh, and BAFs can be deluxe figures. Have fun! |

I took the survey too and I'm sorry, but that pace printing stuff just isn't a selling point for me. I had to go through several different Nakias and Black Panthers to find ones where the eyes were printed on straight. When I found the Vision / Scarlet Witch 2-pack I just settled for the least bad looking one of the 4 I found at Toys R Us. If it's off just a little it looks really bad and throws off the whole likeness to me. The import figures I have that use the same process all look fine, but it seems like Hasbro hasn't got it down just yet.

I mean, dude, why come into an 'appreciation' thread solely to be negative? |

So Amazon kept their "reduced rate" promise on my First 10 Years, Ant-Man & YellowJacket figures.
When I pre-ordered them, they were at 49.99, but today it was charged at the lesser rate of $37.49! Not bad. I know, I know, "Game Stop had there's at 25% off!" Well, it saves me a trip, gas money and time....and it puts my prime membership to use, lol. Can't wait for them to arrive! |
