For any of you waiting on the basic Marvel Studios Red Skull, Hasbro Toy Shop has him back in stock with free shipping over 50 dollars. Got tired of waiting for my BBTS pre-order to fill, so I picked up two for troop building, since I already have the SDCC Skull.

Saw a great pic online of people using the Hydra heads on the First Order Officers that came with the two pack Ackbar sets. Might pick up a couple of those as well to get the most mileage out of those additional heads, as well as to give my MCU Hydra army some variety.

Me waiting for the Apocalypse/Sauron/Venom waves to make it my local retail:

Passed on them as well. Killmonger looks like a much better painted version of the single figure (they had one so I could compare in hand) with an extra head. Winter Soldier looked good with the newer arm but not good enough to buy the set. Falcon looked almost identical to the Walmart release to me. Perhaps if I can obtain them at a reasonable discount sometime but like many others have said, I am pretty much done with the movie figures. The constant repacking with slight tweaks or including something that should have been included in the originally released figure is wearing my tolerance of Hasbro's antics thin.

@Triv
I agree, that really adds some variety to the Hydra goons while still keeping them in the same relative style.

Saw a lone Typhoid Mary at Target today and the rest of the Venom wave at multiple Gamestops. Saw a lone Gladiator at Target last week. Nothing at any Walmart. I hope the 2nd Deadpool wave is as easy too find as the first one is now... well except for X-Force Deadpool... I see every one but him, even see Cable now... never would have guessed that gray deadpool would end up being the hit of that wave.

I have a feeling that the second Deadpool wave will practically be a no-show at retail, as retailers are now peg loaded with the first Deadpool wave, and their system shows plenty of DDP? DPL? whatever code their using for the Deadpool Marvel legends.

Veronica Mars 08-01-2018 08:02 PM

I hit 6 Targets today, the only thing new was 2 Venoms from the Venom wave

Struggler 08-01-2018 08:04 PM

Sauron wave listings are up on hts with the imminent "coming soon" blurb.

Dr Kain 08-01-2018 08:11 PM

Well in positive news, I found these three today at a Target:

https://i.imgur.com/Rie5jZu.jpg

The bad news, Storm and Gladiator both have massive issues. Gladiator's paint job, especially on his legs are horrendous and his cape can't stay plugged into the back (same issue Magneto is having, so this might be a factory issue).

As for Storm, well she has a giant mold burn mark on her chin so it looks like she has a scab on her face, his left boot is sliding off every time I lift her up, she has a bobble head thing going on, and I can't figoure how the lightning bolts are supposed to attach to her hands because they are so damn gummy.

Fortunately, Typhoid Mary is nearly perfect. Only issue with her are some spots on her white corset, but it fits with the character, so I don't have any issue there. The face is utterly perfect and I love the jacket. If I had a nitpick though it is that they should have had her with two gripping hands and two swords since she wields two of them in the comics. I can't even think of a nother figure that I could give a hand from.

Anyway, sucks that I still can't outright cancel my preorder from Dorkside, but it also sucks that these are showing up in stores before preorders even get shipped. What the hell is the friggin point of even preordering something if they are going to show up in stores first?

Captain Nash 08-01-2018 08:12 PM

Word over on Fwoosh is that Dorkside has received the Sauron wave. Pretty stoked and not nearly as antsy as I was about the Apocalypse wave. Maybe because it'd been twice as long a wait looking forward to it (a year vs. six months). I mean, I want my Sauron and I'm super hyped but I'm not "OMG!!! wHenz it gonna shiiiiiiip!!" Yet. LOL. Hopefully it ships sometime this week or at latest by next, would be cool to have it in hand by end of next week.

Dr Kain 08-01-2018 08:36 PM

I've got to cancel my Sauron wave preorder. Someone on TFW is going to sell me his Sauron for $30, and since I only wanted him, Bishop, and Omega Red, the later two aren't worth the $110ish.

Tarooster 08-01-2018 08:37 PM

I wanna build Sauron but I really only want Bishop, Omega Red, and X-23.

hasbroherofan 08-01-2018 08:38 PM

It's funny because we're getting the 10th anniversary stuff near us but still nothing from the Lizard wave. What is it with the terrible distribution for Spider-Man waves?

What's TFW?

Tarooster 08-01-2018 09:12 PM

Yeah the Spidey waves continue to be an issue. I've barely seen any of the wave at all other than 1 figure at a Gamestop, meanwhile we now have the X waves, Venom, Sauron, and the MCU figures popping up all over.

I got Daredevil and Doc Ock who were my 2 biggest wants from HTS but I wouldn't mind getting Elektra or maybe Cloak and Dagger too.

I have none of the figures present in the three pack so I'm totally fine getting it at full price. I had no desire to complete the BAF Thanos because the colors were dull and the head did not suit me, I skipped on the Iron Man because of disinterest, and I passed on Hasbro's first Dr Strange because I thought the likeness was poor so this three pack is a win for me. I could've done without the Iron Man but I'll definitely still take him if it means I get Thanos and Strange.

I was working at ToyAddicts yesterday, and John, the owner, mentioned that everyone's been pretty much screwed over on the Lizard wave - he buys in bulk through Entertainment Earth, and after his initial order, he couldn't actually order more of the wave, which he's been able to do for every other wave before and since.

Did a goof-up happen that resulted in the wave getting a shorter production than usual? Because the Lizard wave is not only poorly distributed, but has also been the weirdest one to track down at retail, mostly because the majority of sightings I've had have been at Walmart (which has been terrible at stocking new product for the past year) and Gamestop (which hasn't even been in the ML business for long, and even then doesn't have, like, immense stock), and a few sightings at Target much earlier in the year, when ML were being discounted to, like, $12.50

(Incidentally, if anyone's interested in selling off their Spider-Punk for a good price, lemme know. Don't need the Lizard piece, just all Hobie's accessories)

Captain Nash 08-02-2018 08:54 AM

I think the Lizard wave ties into the entire problem with Spider-Man waves. I know he's their number one character. But there's always at least 2 waves per year. And stores are still sitting on older Spider-Man waves, and I think we know which one currently - the one with the female Beetle and Morbius, and that's what - 2 and a half years ago??? Ridiculous. You think about it. Aside from the Abomination wave (which was an unheard of 3rd wave for a brand within a year), what's always been the hardest waves to find: Space Venom. Lizard. Sandman. even to a certain extent the Homecoming wave. It's been a running theme.

It's the same old story over and over again. With no way for retail stocking systems to differentiate between the branding of the waves, there's too many Spider-Man waves. Hasbro or retail needs to come up with a better system. I'm not saying release less Spider-Man waves, but a way for retail to tell the difference between waves.

I know it's an unpopular opinion on this board, but I think Hasbro needs to back off in general. Right now, they're scheduled to release 10 waves this year and that doesn't even include 2 packs, Ultimate Riders, MCU 10th Anniversary figures/packs, or store exclusives. And to make things worse, half of the waves for 2018 have either been released in the past couple of months or will be released in the next few weeks. People have already been finding figures from the Cull Obsidian, Sp//der, Apocalypse, and Venom waves at retail (Gamestop, Target, Walgreens) and we all know the Sauron wave isn't far behind. Unless a store is only buying one case of each wave, they won't be able to move the figures quickly enough to keep up with the releases.

Yeah, that's really perplexing. I don't think Hasbro would make the Lizard wave in smaller numbers, so where did they all go?

Well when they show up at ollies big lots and 5 below then we’ll know. ;)

Agreed. While I've had little trouble locating the Sandman wave, it took a while for it to be widely available at retail. Abomination wave is only just now able to be found on a repeat basis (specifically at Walgreens). Homecoming had a solid month of being pretty easy to find, but only at Walmart, it seemed. But Space Venom, only time I saw multiples of that wave were... well, at TRU. So there's that.

And yeah, the Morbius/Beetle/Speed Demon figures are still hanging out, but I swear, my Target cannot seem to get rid of the last few White Tigers and Misty Knights.

Actually, I think that's a pretty popular opinion on the board. Trying to keep up is tiring, even if you're ordering online or you have a retail outlet with good enough turnover. I mean, there's four solid waves that we've bought/are buying (Sasquatch, Apocalypse, Sauron, and SP//dr) where only one or two per wave, max, are going to be sold off after the fact. And that's on top of two to four from every other wave this year that we've bought, exclusives, the Riders... and I know there's people here buying even more than that. I love that we're getting all this product, but Hasbro does need to ease up.

I want to say it's just a distribution issue, but I can't say that with certainty, given the weird bits of evidence.

name 08-02-2018 10:35 AM

The lizard wave is just like the cull wave. Retail simply cannot support so much product in the same line. When stores are still choked with last years product and Hasbro slams three or four new waves in the same line out at once they simply cannot keep up and the distribution pipe becomes clogged for old product moving out for new.

Retail sells shelf space before they sell product. They cannot keep allotting more and more space just to fill one band or lines ability to make more product. Their is only so much space and throughput they can deal with.

The lizard wave was mostly passed up because at the time it was coming wearhouses where still shipping the last spider wave and that product needed to sell through before retail could worry about even more order on top of what it had in its system.
Distribution is better than ever before, but it’s now “too good” getting product to stores isn’t the problem, it’s the amount of product still stuck in retail systems not allowing for new product to make its way in replacement.

Captain Nash 08-02-2018 10:44 AM

Count me in for the "too many waves" group as well. 10 waves (9 BAF and the vintage wave) is about 2-3 waves too many. I think they really hit a good spot when they were doing 7 waves a year. if they want to keep to 10 waves a years, then they need to stagger the waves better. I know we all want everything right away, but from a perspective if you can't find the product because it's not being stocked it doesn't really matter if you want it or not. Stop having 4 waves hit the first two months of the year and over half your product "out" by May. We always have a dry spell between August-December where there's maybe one wave released...why can't some of those waves be set for then? Trust me, Avengers waves will sell no matter when they're released...doesn't have to be the month of or before/after a movie.

on the other hand, and I'm half joking here and half serious, as long as they get the X-men waves out timely I don't really care when the rest of the waves are released. :D
