I hit every Walgreens in my area... no pig or Scream. I ran into some money, so I’m going to preorder the Sauron wave to avoid the hunt. The other Spider-Man wave may be a pass for me, I’ve got to say no at some point or I’ll be broke and alone. Thanks Hasbruh.

The rumored Magneto/Scarlet Witch/Quicksilver three pack makes no sense to me. I thought Marvel was trying to undo that storyline and make the twins In humans(which I find ridiculous) was that scrapped?

With the state of marvel's editorial continuity they probably forgot that retcon happened. I mean it was a whole 4 years ago, who needs to keep up with ancient times! /sarcasm/

Real answer: Fox and Disney are about to get married (well, Fox will be more like a concubine.) so the retcon doesn't matter anymore since it was nearly 100% motivated by the bad blood between the studios.

Edit: also, I can imagine they want to try and get away from making more characters Inhumans. I don't hate the inhumans by any means, but the fan base for the comic X-Men/Mutants is much larger than for the comic Inhumans. Not to mention that the Inhumans is the first (only?) property that Marvel Studios has introduced to a larger, non-comic audience that has not been successful. I know on the comic spectrum the push for them is no longer there, and that can't be coincidental. for me, the only thing that makes me sad about is that it lessens the chance of getting a Maximus, Lockjaw, and Crystal.

Starlord67 08-11-2018 07:33 PM

I wAs hoping for more Inhuman figures as well In the Walgreens exclusives but it seems Marvels Merry Mutants is taking that over. I think they should have kept the Royal Family in the MCU as a film. These are characters with very visual powers that would have been best served on the big screen.

Edit: as you can see...I'm all about the Mutants..but I love the In humans as well.

I agree. I would have been happy to go see an Inhumans movie. Or at least buy it on BluRay/Digital when it released as a home release. The TV show didn't have the investment that it needed to be up to the standard MCU quality, and it showed. I watched the first two episodes finally and it was awful, I couldn't go on.

Completely scrapped. Disney bought Fox. There is no longer any marketing or Merchandising conflict regarding using Mutants. The Inhumans have been put back in their Xenophobic box of a City to be shuffled off to some barren corner of the Marvel Universe. The Mutants are back, The Fantastic Four is back. Heck, it is likely that when we do see Magneto in the MCU it will come out that Wanda and Pietro are his kids. They line up rather nicely with the Scarlett Witch and Quicksilvers comic backstory. Enough so that you can drop the Mutant elements onto them without missing a beat.

DarthKamen 08-11-2018 08:25 PM

Finally getting around to watching more of the X Men films, and I'd like to talk about a couple things.

DOFP was a lot of fun.

And so far, Apocolypse is actually ok IMO. But something that stood out that I though was odd is that despite that most characters have either worn civilian clothes or some black leather costume that they had Psylocke wear something so similar to her comic appearance.

Be careful with a comment like that nitelife lurks in the shadows. Haha! But I agree man days of future past is a pretty well done movie. I’d definitely buy a Michael fastbender magneto and a munn psylocke

I don't have the vintage version of the Punisher, but here's how the Walgreens head looks on the Epic Heroes Thunderbolts Punisher. The skintones are a near perfect match, and you won't have to alter the head or neck post at all.

Bishop and Omega Red arrived today courtesy of Ebay. I was able to take advantage of the recent coupon day that Ebay had earlier in the week, and get both of these guys for a little under 25 dollars a piece with free shipping. My thoughts on both of these are pretty much the same, they are REALLY well done figures that completely blew away my low expectations.

The paints on mine were done really well on both figures, and the quality of the figures themselves was a serious step up from the last two waves I've picked up (X-Men and Venom waves) with no QC issues what-so-ever on either figure. I really like the new body molds being utilized on both of these, although with Bishop, the wide frame makes it a bit difficult to hold a rifle properly with two hands. Omega Red also has a new body with butterfly joints, although the body harness does put a kink in it. I really wish the new Venom figure had been done on one of these new bodies over the Hyperion, but I'm sure Hasbro will double dip with it in no time...

My one major gripe with both figures, is the scale of them. They seem a bit big...ESPECIALLY Bishop. Upon comparing Bishop to the Walgreens Punisher (one of the bigger bodied figures,) Bishop is quite a bit bigger. Bishop is a big dude...but he's not Sagat from Street Fighter big. Omega Red seems to have this issue as well, but I'm willing to forgive it because of the armored pieces which cover up that size discrepancy a bit. Omega Red was also missing the omega symbol on his head band...it was not painted on mine so I was forced to touch it up myself.

All in all though, they're both VERY good figures, and I give them a thumbs up all the way. These are great updates to the Toybiz ones, and the stellar paints and QC made them even more delightful.

<snip>

The key takeaways are:

- Magneto, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver Amazon Exclusive 3-pack, presumably in their classic looks.

- Classic Mystique, Emma Frost (black costume) and possible Dani Moonstar Walgreens Exclusives

- Secret Empire Captain America and Arnim Zola

- Doctor Doom Walgreens Exclusive.....but the Invincible Iron-Man version -_-

- Shuri apart of the Avengers 4 wave. Also Ebony Maw and Corvus Glaive to round out the Black Order.

- Spider-Man Homecoming 2-pack, with Tech Suit Spidey wearing the school jacket and Michelle "MJ" (which is kind of an odd choice, I was hoping we'd get MCU Shocker). Having that female teen body mold would definitely be nice though if you wanted to have Gwen Stacy.

- Some tech suit 2-pack. Details are kinda vague honestly.

- MCU Loki is in a 2-pack with....somebody. I would say it's meant to be an Avengers 1 2-pack. My hunch is either a Hulk from the first Avengers movie (that they can later use for a comic book Hulk) or possibly an updated MCU Hawkeye.

- MCU Captain Marvel will be coming with multiple heads

- Classic Ms. Marvel with an alternate Moonstone head to round out the Dark Avengers (really hope they do an updated Iron Patriot and Daken)

- Super Skrull Walgreens Exclusive might still be out in December

Honestly if these are all true, these reveals are more exciting than SDCC...

Aside from the Secret Empire stuff which I will ignore, everything here excites me. Though I'm surprised at the costume choice for Emma Frost given that they just made the perfect corseted torso for her classic costume with Typhoid Mary.

MeLikeJinx 08-11-2018 09:18 PM

Damn. I was hoping classic Mags was gonna be in the Gambit wave. I was hoping classic Mystique was gonna be in that wave too, but she's a Walgreens exclusive now. I hope Gambit isn't the only figure I end up wanting from that X-men wave... it will make Gambit harder to find IMO when everybody just buys Gambit and leaves the rest of the wave to clog pegs... kinda like Jim Lee Cyclops from the 2nd X-wave.

BRING ON THE TRADITIONAL WHITE QUEEN!

To be honest, I have no doubt in my mind that Hasbro is gonna give us a white Emma Frost in the future. I'm pretty sure they're just putting a less popular costume out there to sell people on the character, then a few months, maybe a year down the line, they give us her white costume to sell people on the costume choice. It's basically Hasbro's MO. They've done it with Cable, and they're going to be doing it with Storm and Magneto. I also wouldn't be surprised if they do it with Doom. They double dip because otherwise, if they just gave characters their most popular costume, people wouldn't buy or need any other versions of the character after that.

Hell, that's probably why it's taking so long for us to get classic versions of Thor and Iron-Man.

lordbest 08-11-2018 09:38 PM

I think you're right.

It won't happen, and probably shouldn't happen, but it would be hilarious (to me) if they made an Emma Frost and the Stepford Cuckoos multipack. Classic Emma then five identical teen "Emmas".

That's not the Hasbro way. They will give us an Emma and Stepford Cuckoo 2 pack. With Emma and 1 Cuckoo... and force us to buy it 4 more times to army build a full set of the Cuckoos.

I'm positive there's going to be another big-name character for that wave. The X-Men waves are filled to the brim with A-listers, so I'm expecting to see more.

With Hasbro saying they're focusing heavily on the 90s era, I'm hoping we see at least one more member of that era in this wave outside of Forge. I get the feeling 90s Strong Guy will be the BAF to give us another 90s X-Factor member, and they HAVE to know everybody is waiting on a Beast by now.

Oh God, don't give them any ideas lol

lordbest 08-11-2018 09:54 PM

Honestly that wouldn't be THAT bad. More people want Emma, so either you would be able to sell the extra Emmas, or the extra cuckoos would be cheaply available on ebay/for trade.

Edit: Rektangular said we might get an Abigail Brand too, please, please let that be true.

I'd buy a lot of XMCU figures. But Mcavoy, Fassbender, and Munn would be top priority.

I...enjoyed Apocalypse. My only real complaint was Apocolypse looked like Ivan Ooze. Other than that, I thought it was a fun movie. Not as good as DOFP or X2 but still good.

EDIT: Though it does make me want to track down the purple haired Psylocke.

Penguino 08-11-2018 10:05 PM

Thanks again Trivial Psychic!

The Vintage head would look great on the Thunderbolts one as the Walgreens on the white Punisher. Thanks! Didn't help me want the Thunderbolts and those bandana heads any less!

I'm glad Disney's war on the X-Men looks to be over, but I'd like if we still got Crystal and Lockjaw in Legends at some point. But it's probably unlikely given how poorly Medusa and Black Bolt sold, alas.

I like Modular Iron Man and would likely purchase a new figure of it but first Hasbro needs to gives us the Silver Centurion goddammit.

What I'm thinking/hoping is that Hasbro could give us a new body specifically to put all their pre-mid-90s Iron Men onto, with some new parts depending on the costume. Classic, Silver Centurion, Stealth, War Machine, Neo-Classic, Modular, they're pretty much all skintight metal with some extra added details, and pretty much all worn by the same guy (or his friend with seemingly pretty much the same size/bodytype).

Also, does anyone know what time of day Hasbro usually puts their SDCC exclusives up for order? I already nabbed the trenchcoat Red Skull and Tesseract off eBay for not much over original price, and I just want Colleen and the unmasked Matt head from the Defenders pack, so all I'm trying to get is the Power of the Primes Optimus Primal w/ Throne of the Primes. I'm hoping to avoid getting up juuuust barely too late to get it.
