DOFP was a lot of fun.

And so far, Apocolypse is actually ok IMO. But something that stood out that I though was odd is that despite that most characters have either worn civilian clothes or some black leather costume that they had Psylocke wear something so similar to her comic appearance.

Their take on Archangel was a travesty. He was basically a disposable character.

Not to mention it doesn't make sense because he was the same age in this movie, if not older, that he was in X3.

Also, they repeated the same Quicksilver scene, they screwed up Alex and Scott's parents, Alex doesn't look like he aged at all in the last 20 years, for being a mutant and proud, Mystique barely ever stayed in her true form, oh, and what happened to her taking on Stryker's form at the end of DoFP? Apocalypse was shorter than his horsemen, some mutant powers were blocked by Stryker's machine, some weren't, Storm was barely even in the film, and Caliban is not a mutant smuggler.

Captain Nash 08-12-2018 07:00 AM

On the other hand, Cyclops had a better showing in Apocalypse than he did in all of rest of the movies he was in combined. Which, isn't saying all that much but still...

I'm gonna be real with you, man.

Warren has been a disposable character for a hell of a long time. I agree with you that Apocalypse wasted his appearance, but outside of the Archangel angst, Warren hasn't really had enough character or story to be compelling in quite some time :D

(Mostly the fault of writers, but since from that, he's still the least interesting of the O5)

The same can be said for Psylocke and Jubilee.
Both were in X-Men: Apocalypse but Jubilee is also in X1 and Psylocke is in X3.

I get that, but any movie with Apocalypse should have given him a bit more thought. It seemed like a waste when it’s a fairly compelling story.

Hopefully Disney lets Marvel squash the whole universe and build it from the ground up.

Exactly. Apocalypse is basically the x-men’s Thanos. It should have been the X-men universe’s infinity War not Thor dark world lol

I put the non helmet Magneto head on the Toy R Us one from a few year ago. I like it. It's not perfect, but it's cool

I assumed the timeline that got changed screwed some things up. Does that make sense? Not really but that's what I went with.

And they were both amazing and incredibly fun to watch.

That's something I learned to accept about these films: the way people age makes no sense.

Yeah...I agree on these.

Apocalypse was shorter than his horsemen,
I think his design was a far bigger issue than his size. It'd be nice if he were bigger but that's not enough to ruin the movie for me.

Didn't notice that.

Storm was barely even in the film,
Completely agree, same for Angel and Psylocke.

I had never heard of Caliban until this movie so that didn't really bug me.

With Hasbro saying they're focusing heavily on the 90s era, I'm hoping we see at least one more member of that era in this wave outside of Forge. I get the feeling 90s Strong Guy will be the BAF to give us another 90s X-Factor member, and they HAVE to know everybody is waiting on a Beast by now.

Well isn’t the BAF rumored to be Strong Guy? So we may be looking at a few more X-Factor’ish and New Mutants characters. Plus there aren’t that many core X-Men left to do. I mean we need a new Nightcrawler and Beast. But we have most of the main comic cast up through the early 200’s comic wise. Maybe we will get a few more X villains?

Wasn’t that the suit that they were trying to depict with the Vintage Wave 1 IM figure?

The Black costume might work to our benefit. Easy custom to create Sage or Selene.

Last night my local Walmart got in a fresh case of Infinity War wave 2, first time I've seen any of them in person. I got Ant-Man and Wasp months ago when Amazon put them up but I couldn't resist getting Thor after seeing him in hand. I briefly considered getting Black Widow too but I don't want my only MCU Widow to be the blonde version. My Thor has a few instances of sloppy paint (mainly around where the cape meets the shoulders) but they're minor and don't detract from his overall appearance.

Don't know if anyone saw when I asked before, but anybody know what time of day Hasbro usually puts their SDCC exclusives up for order on HasbroToyShop? I'm hoping to avoid missing it.

Nope, that would be the Neo-Classic armor from the late '80s:

https://holdyourfireal.smugmug.com/C...92_qdsCD-L.jpg

The Modular Armor is from the early '90s.

Archangel 08-12-2018 03:09 PM

I think I’m going to bide my time on the Tech Bot Spider-Man wave. The one Dagger figure I’ve seen in person had paint issues on her stomach. House of M Spidey should be $15 on Amazon at some point along with Daredevil.

I think its best known as the armor he wore in the cartoon.

Or the Marvel vs. Capcom armor.

It depends on if they give us the black outfit with the corset (which I would think they would) or the gauche outfit from the Bendis run that was somehow held in place by her cleavage.

I hope it's the corset. ANYTHING that can get closer to making a perfect custom Selene is a plus in my book.

The one thing I'm consistently amazed at with the Fox X-Men movies is how little of a shit they could give about continuity...lol. Those movies are almost entertaining to watch in a continuous marathon just to see how botched the timeline is.

Lmao I think I owned one of those, though I liked it.

One thing that's just now bothering me about DofP....Old Magneto sends Logan to the past to free young Magneto....who is still a genocidal mutant terrorist by this point, and succeeds in doing nothing more than temporarily stopping Mystique before nearly sabotaging the plan. Why would Old Magneto do that?

I really like most of the X-Men movies (W:O is total crap and TLS is pretty bad, but most are either at least decent or really great IMO) but I agree, the continuity in the movies is completely messed up. I've thought about watching them "in order" but I honestly don't even know what order they would be watched in. No other movie series I know of has this many continuity problems. Also, aside from a few continuity issues, DOFP is nearly perfect. I think it's my favorite superhero movies out of all the brands.

I don't recall them ever actually going Jubilee by name in X1 though. Same reason why they showed what should have been Kitty even though she clearly wasn't.

As for Psylocke, I don't remember her in X3 either.

The timeline changing wouldn't change the date someone was born though.

The one in DoFP yes, the one in Apoc, eh.

Quote:

Yes, they're supposed to be orphans who were separated and their dad is Corsair.

Quote:

It could have easily been rectified though had they not made the movies have a 20 year gap. The time jumps are too big.

Quote:

Given that no character except Psylocke looks like their comic counterpart, I never expected Apocalypse to look accurate (the design still sucks ass though). However, Apocalypse should tower over his enemies, not be shorter than everyone. Hell, if Wolverine had been with the team, he would have been shorter than him.

Quote:

Caliban is an interesting character with an interesting history. I'm surprised you didn't know about him through at least the 90s cartoon.

My favorite of the X-Men movies is First Class as it was the only one that felt like they were actually a team to me. Not to mention it's the first time I felt Charles was properly portrayed on screen. Patrick Stewart might have the look, but he was way too grandfatherly to be Charles. Charles is an A class asshole who cares more about himself and his own selfish desires than what others want. Yes, he loves his mutants, but he thinks they should follow his world views and no one else's. Stewart just could never portray that part which McAvoy has done perfectly.

Though, First Class does feature one very big flaw with Magneto. He hates humans because of his imprisonment during WWII, but it was a mutant that killed his parents and tortured him. That kind of defies his entire motivation. Still, Fassbender gives a phenomenal portrayal and has the most badass theme song since the 90s X-Men cartoon opening.
