The arms kind of gimp the ability to move the arms in any direction all on their own. I agree Warlock’s cables were painfully short. I just think that there might be some happy middle ground to be found here.

Personally, I don't think the DCEU characters are well-developed at all. Yes, there is something that can be said about the pressure Clark feels and about him having to make tough moral decisions. My problem stems from the fact that Clark/Superman is supposed to be Superman yet feels like the least human character in the movie. Outside of the heavy-handed God allegory, Superman is just...boring in the movies. He has no real discernible personality and spends large chunks of MoS and BvS just looking mopey and depressed, even when he's in the middle of saving lives. He has no real charm, charisma or chemistry with the rest of the cast. And that's the problem. Everything in those movies about trying to humanize Superman is undone by the fact that Superman is not written like a living, breathing person but rather the thesis to some allegory or philosophical debate.

What tends to get missed when it comes to the MCU is how nuanced these characters are, even when it comes to the humor because it informs so much about who these characters are. Hawkeye and Iron-Man both quip mid-fight but it's so different. Iron-Man will be scathing and insulting, Hawkeye is more likely to comment on the absurdity of their situation. Thor's lines make him sound like a ditsy jock who ultimately has his heart in the right place (such as when he keeps calling Rocket "Rabbit", but you know it's never meant to be insulting, he just genuinely doesn't know the difference between the two because he's unfamiliar with Earth creatures). Even a comedic character like Drax, where the humor doesn't necessarily come from what he says, but from his absolute deadpan delivery of everything that lets you know that he 100% takes the ridiculous shit he says seriously.

It's little touches like that that make the MCU work for a lot of people.

Barry is not some awkward shut in with anxiety issues! God damn, learn how your character is supposed to act before you play them!!!

Also, gotta agree with this. Barry Allen can be used comedically. But the writers for Justice League basically turned him into nothing but a walking joke machine.

And you know what? The social anxiety angle could have theoretically worked if the movie bothered to treat it with nuance and used it to give the character depth, but it's pretty much only used so the Flash can make awkward and cringy jokes.

you ever wonder what Marvel movies will be like when you're dead....lol

say like 75 years from now when they characters are STILL being used in whatever medium is popular at that time.
people will still be bitching though...that i guarantee..ha

hmm..and what action figure lines will be out...
and will Marvel Legends have any value??
Or will they SUCK because modern figs (at that time) clearly BLOW AWAY anything from this era..
smh..i gotta stop smoking so early..

i LOVE the MCU..... it doesn't' mean i love every movie.
But shit...what they have accomplished is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING in the transfer of mediums for COMIC BOOK characters. Bringing character that run around in spandex with probably more BAD stories than good in their totality...is no easy task.
IMO they deserve a standing ovation for what they have given us.
DILLY-DILLY!!!

i just watched Infinity War again last night and..if you are a Marvel comics fan...I seriously cannot comprehend how you did not like and appreciate this film.

I've said this before on the Ark, we're gonna have little rigor mortis homunculi in the future.

I wont care what they’re like when I’m dead....I’ll be too busy haunting cheerleader locker rooms to care. ;)

And just think....the MCU still hasn't put out a bad product!

My biggest issue with s1 of ironfist was how the dude looked. The curly fro and douchebag beard were terrible. And at least he coulda wore a yellow bandana eyemaak. I actually kinda liked how it was set up but they either need a new actor who will look the part ( i mean seriously....i hate tha hyde from that 70’s show look ) or get finn jones to get the proper look as danny.

The only good scenes were the scenes in the Grey house and Magneto moving the Golden Gate Bridge. On the other hand, it does have my favorite soundtrack of all of the movies. The Phoenix theme is pretty awesome. I just wish the rest of the movie could have been awesome too. And let's not even get started on Faux-Psylocke.

Okay I'm glad someone said this, even if you don't like Apocalypse, it shouldn't be lumped in with The Last Stand. The Last Stand is way worse than Apocalypse could ever hope to be.

And personally, I can't understand why people would rank the first X-Men movie higher than Apocalypse either....sheesh is it cheesey.

I would like to hear your reasoning on this. I thought it was an incredible scene.

I think he meant it was bad in terms of emotional gravity. How the scene was made and ended up was good but it was really jacked up what happened story wise.

Odd man out on this but I absolutely hated the Bor figure and was happy to get some $$ back when I sold him. The armor feels really cheap and ends up looking like he is wearing a pinecone over his torso, his shield is super soft and bendy and that curved beard just looks so damn weird... lolz... anyways- he was a little floppy (not SilverSurfer floppy)but that doesn't bother me much unless they can't stand up. I was really looking forward to this guy and was super disappointed in him. My Thor-verse shall remain Borless!

it's back there- probably just a few posts down from this. It's the silliness that was Mag's wife and daughter being killed by one cop accidentally letting go of his arrow- I found it very very poorly done and fairly comedic.

I think the Red skull (Red Onslaught) wave might actually be worse. Or at least a close contender with the Hulkbuster BAF. At least with Hulkbuster you ended up with a really nice BAF. Whereas with Red Skull you ended up with the red and purple evil Baymax that doesn't like to stand up on his own.

Exactly. As a giant flash fan I was seriously disappointed by Ezra’s take on flash. Plus they made him a bit of a cowardly pussy. He “just pushes somebody then runs” I have no idea what they were thinking making the flash into basically nothing more then a jokester.

That’s exactly how I feel man. I have no idea how they were able to take little to no name characters(in the media) like GOTG, Ant man, even Iron man wasn’t that big when his first movie hit. And turn them into household names thanks to how great they produced their movies. It seems like their movies have just gotten better since Winter Soldier(which is still my top 3 Mcu film) everyone since then has been incredible. Infinity War is not just a superhero movie triumph but a groundbreaking movie by any standard. The MCU is just perfection haha.

Agreed.

Marvel Studios had taken some risks from the beginning.

Introducing the remaining characters that weren't already sold off to become box office names was no easy task (extra props for the newer Guardians of the Galaxy roster).

But to continue to do so after 10 years, breaking records inbetween (30 characters in Infinity War...WHAAAT!?) and become the highest grossing movie franchise in history is truly UNBELIEVABLE.

Captain Nash 08-15-2018 02:27 PM

Not only that but they had to do all these storylines without Marvel's top 2 villains. That's where they probably were the most irritated about, not just missing the X-Men and F4, but no Magneto or Doom. Or Kang for that matter.

I REALLY hope that the next phase the big bad will be Kang.

Augustus_Cole 08-15-2018 02:28 PM

:(and still i get no Dilly-Dillys for the MCU

I just don't understand that. I thought it was heartbreaking and one of the best Magneto moments in the series, probably up there with the coin scene from First Class.

I love how he looks up towards the heavens and says "Is that what I am? Is this what you want me to be?"

@Nite, I don't think it jacked up the story at all. I don't even see how it could.

Agree to disagree I guess.

I think that is less a problem with the DCEU than it is a problem in the roots of the character himself. How do you feel for a god? He's never in any danger. The dudes has two types of breath for crying out loud.

Characters in the MCU bleed and get gravely injured. Thor lost an eye.

Superman will know success in the movies when they decide to limit his powers to just flight and superstrength.
