I don't see anything wrong with wanting curvier female figures, but I do think Hasbro has done a pretty great job so far of regulating their body molds to fit the characters as they are represented in the comics. Most of the figures released recently are of characters who are represented as being thin or fit better aesthetically on the body molds that Hasbro has currently in use.

I don't honestly see the Moonstone buck as being the "curvy" mold, but rather the "powerhouse" mold for characters with extraordinary strength or physicality. Carol Danvers, 90's Rogue, & Scream could all hit those Wonder Woman-like parameters of physique due to their power-sets/power sources/abilities, but most of the more recent characters released just haven't hit those marks, imo.

Heck you could repaint either the Silver Sable head or the Comic Valkyrie head with jet black hair and pop it onto the Kitty Pride body. Repaint a Black Widow belt to Blue and you have a New Mutants version Dani with minimal effort. Well except the flying horse. (Which would make a great BAF now that I think about it. More of a Build a Vehicle mind you. But it could be used for her, Valkyrie and the Black Knight)

I see far more issues with female figures not being big or muscly enough, (and articulated enough but that's another issue), than not being curvy enough. Hasbro have that pretty well covered.

We need a good muscular female body that could be used for a new She-Hulk and Titania.

Unless Carol, Rogue and Scream need extra lung capacity there's definitely some cheesecake in that mold. The issue arises with characters like Psylocke and Jewel who should have probably reused the Ashley Barton mold rather than the Dagger and Silk molds

Silver Sable is the safer bet, the comic Valkyrie head will be way too big on the Kitty body.

The height on the existing mold is good, but those awful hip joints, the too short arms and the extended lower torso are just tragical.

Good for a standard Asgardian female too. I'm still bitter Enchantress is so tiny. Her canonical height is 6'3" and 450lb, she big.

If they'd just tool new limbs for the Angela mold they'd be set for Asgardian females. I think a lot of people forget what the Enchantress's proportions are supposed to be, even back in the original Secret Wars comics she was drawn a lot slighter than She-Hulk, Titania and Volcana

That would be an excellent solution. Yep, she's not quite as tall as those characters and perhaps not quite as buff but she's still Asgardian, and no waif. She had no business being on the same body as Scarlet Witch.

Good god...is weight displacement a secret power of asgardians? That would make her bigger and taller than half the WWE roster...hell...bigger than half the linemen in the NFL. Where the hell is she hiding it?

The articulation on that one isn't great, but it would do in a pinch. I certainly would have preferred Enchantress use it over Scarlet Witch.
I like to think Asgardians have extra dense bones and muscles and whatnot, to explain the extra weight and super strength and whatnot.

My patience paid off, and I was able to take advantage of both the recent ebay coupon and a general lack of interest in the Legends collecting community to nab the SDCC Defenders box set for well below retail. It arrived yesterday, and hot damn...this packaging is something else. I kinda don't wanna open it now...lol...it looks that good.

Add to the fact that I haven't even gotten around to posting on some of the other figures I've picked up lately, so here's a quick catch up of thoughts.

Ronan 10th anniversary: Boy...Hasbro dropped the ball with this guy. Great sculpt (although a bit boxy) but that issue with the head being attached to the shoulder armor really kills any of the cool posing options one might be able to come up with. It feels like a better articulated version of their titan heroes figures because of it. I haven't seen an armor glitch this bad since the early days of Skyrim...and it really ruins the aesthetics of the figure.

X-23 Wolverine: I had absolutely no attachment to this version of the character, and truthfully, picked it up originally because I was only interested in the alternate headsculpt, but in hand, it's actually a lot better of a figure than I gave it credit for. The colors pop (they did a really good job with the paint QC on most of this DP wave...) and most of the line work is really crisp. I love the boot cut (can we give the women figures this please...) and the best part, I don't need to make toe claws for this one because Hasbro took care of it for me. My only gripes with the figure though lies in the reason I bought it...the unmasked headsculpt. She's pretty, but she also looks like Michael Jackson from certain angles. My figure also has thousand yard stare that could make Rambo blush, as the eyes were painted kinda wonky and lifeless with no where near the amount of detail that we've received with recent female figures like Dagger or Typhoid Mary.

Deadpool and Chill (AKA. Boxers Deadpool): Gonna be honest, I've avoided almost all of the DP related figures in the wave, but I really wanted to finish Sauron and the torso was the only piece up to this point that I was unable to trade for or purchase cheaply. (There was no way I was paying 20 bucks for the torso alone!)

Which brings me to picking up this DP figure when I saw it in hand yesterday. It's okay as a figure I guess, but the excellent paint QC that the rest of the wave had took a real dive with this guy, as his linework is fuzzy and all over the place. The headsculpt on mine was poorly painted as well, requiring me to touch it up a bit. I don't mind the laser nerf weapons, but what's really unfortunate about them is that they're a bit small, and wouldn't work with many of the characters they make the most sense with (Bishop or Cable for example) as their hands are simply too big to hold them. He also has a holster, but no weapons that can fit in it. Shame Hasbro...shame.

At least my wife likes the figure, so I gave it to her, so it doesn't feel like a total waste. Plus, it allowed me to complete Sauron so....

Sauron BAF: This is a very cool BAF and fills a collection need for many, as we haven't received a Sauron since the original X-men animated toys from Toybiz. It might have been my BAF of the year thus far, however there's one HUGE glaring problem with it for me, and that it's 85 percent reissue of the Amazing Spider-Man Movie Lizard figure. The upper and lower torso and legs all come from that figure, and therefore, inherit some of the issues that came with it, such as the thigh rotation being blocked by the crotch of the figure, and the loose upper torso joint that mine has, which is exacerbated by the heavy amount of weight it bears thanks to the arms and head. Speaking of the head, the head on mine pops off a bit easily when I try to adjust the neck. Not sure if this is a widespread issue or just mine, but it's there.

Still though, Sauron is somehow able to make that ugly Lizard body mold work for him better than it ever did for Rhys Ifans, and I like how the front part of the wings can detach from the arms easily allowing something more dynamic that doesn't get in the way when Sauron is posted up on the ground. The tail and neck joints still worry me though the way that they did with the original movie Lizard, but they do give him some nice posing options. All in all though, mold flaws aside, this is a cool one from out of left field, and it leaves me wanting more Marauders and Mutates members like the Vertigo, Zaladane, Whiteout, and Lorelei...

Yes, please. Not a fan of the figure design of the Red She-Hulk scale of female figures at all. The overall design was palpable when Hasbro was still testing the waters of their female bucks back in 2013, but with the advancements Hasbro has made since it really has no place with the modern figures we are getting now. A new sculpt/mold is well over do.

Oh there's definitely exaggeration in that mold, no doubt, but with a comic book property, cheesecake will almost always be canon. As for the Silk & Barton figures, I guess it just depends on your individual idea of the term "body molds". Imo, both figures actually share the same base body mold: arms, legs, lower torso. The only difference being the upper torso pieces highlighting a difference in the use of fabric for the two ladies costumes. Neither are exactly right nor wrong, just preference.

I would have rather Psylocke had Ashley Barton's upper torso instead of Dagger's, it would have been more comic accurate. To my knowledge they've never reused that mold. Seems like a waste

I'm not saying every figure should be on the Moonstone body mold. Just give the ladies some curves. Not stick figure proportions. I want variety in my figures. Not the same mold used over and over.

I agree with you on the Barton upper torso being absolutely made for a 90's representation of Psylocke, as she was frequently drawn has having her costume almost literally painted on. Dagger would have also benefited from the Barton upper torso, as the cloth-like covering of the Silk upper torso looks more than a little odd with Dagger's cleavage showing cut-outs.
I agree 1000%, but then again this is Hasbro. Recycle & re-paint is ultimately the name of their game, and the only way they can get so much product out at the rate that they do.

Here are some interesting points from Fan Expo Canada's Legends Panel that I didn't see necessarily posted here:

*MCU Klaue will come with both his normal arm & swappable sonic blaster arm.

*No more planned variants in the waves, unless there's a mistake that needs correction.

*Hasbro began planning the Apocalypse BAF wave in January 2017 for a set release date of August 2018.

*At a best case scenario, sculpting one figure can take four weeks while being passed around to different sculptors multiple times throughout the process.

Just got a X-Men Deadpool (and another Multiple Man) from GameStop in order to complete my Sauron, and really that last piece was the main draw of the entire set lol.



The Deadpool figure itself isn't bad, but if this never got released, I probably wouldn't be too upset about it. One thing I do love even though it makes absolutely no sense for this particular version of the character is the Madcap head, and it makes me hope that we get a proper Madcap because otherwise this head would feel like a waste. I've seen people putting it on Batroc, but I still want to see a comic accurate Madcap.

As far as Sauron....man this is a thing of beauty. Apocalypse was my favorite BAF of the year but this Sauron.....I dunno man....lol

Not sure if this is old news but Five Below has the GotG vol. 2 wave. I just pocked up Gamora and Adam Warlock. If you don't see the figures on the pegs be sure to check barrels and wheelbarrows near the front of the store. The store I went to literally had the entire wave at the bottom of a barrel full of dolls.
