Definitely, they look damn incredible.

They will be very nice additions to my Marvel Studios collection. I was hoping we'd get some more shot from wave 2 of The Black Panther. Looks like those figures will be released this December, so I'm just waiting on those preorders to come.

Yeah man I’m definitely wanting to see more of them! Shuri in particular(which her and killmonger were my favorite parts of the film) I’m wanting to hurry up and preorder them even if my wallet isn’t ready for it lol

LOL!!! The moment I saw the press release on marvel.com, I politely transferred $160 into my fig checking account(yep I have one of those), and the wait began. A couple of weeks ago after seeing the Captain Marvel wave, I preordered a case of 7 and sent more money to the account. It's a great time to be a collector.

Got 2 Magiks with good faces. I’ve seen others with one eye painted lower than the other.

She is out already?????

Yep. I posted a review about her here late last week.

Many Walgreens are setting up Marvel themed end caps in the center of their aises featuring many of their exclusive Pops and figures. Check your stores for them, as they have been stocking Magik and Thing there most often.

It looks like it could be a reuse of the Titus/Space Venom body, but I'm not 100% sure. I could be wrong.

Anyone remember when the Sentinel/Logan set was available last on amazon? I see it’s been out of stock for quite a few days. My wife said she wants to buy it for me and I want to let her lol.

If ya gonna blow a hundred bucks go on ebay and look for a toybiz sentinel. Its way better than that block of deuce in the set.

You say that, and yet the Toy Biz Sentinel looks like a movie Transformer. Seriously, I keep seeing all the praise for the TB Sentinel, but all I see are negatives:

- Overdone paint wash
- Drab, dull covers that only match the Sentinels back during the Morrison-era of the books (when the art was pretty unimpressive)
- Over-detailed design that has random exposed bits of wiring and random 'tech crap' greebling that, to my memory, doesn't match a particular era of Sentinel design (except, again, perhaps the Morrison-era)

Meanwhile, the one in the set is bright, looks solid and cohesive, and generally matches the most common Sentinel aesthetics, and hey, it comes with a Wolverine that you can sell off if you don't wanna keep it.

I know personal taste is a factor, but come on. There's just as many pros as cons for both.

Harbinger 10-05-2018 01:25 PM

It ,ay be personal pref true, but the tb sentinel has better articulation, looks a bit more menacing, and has a better range of motion. The hasbro sentinel just feels and looks a bit clunkier. Thats just my thoughts on it.

TOTTTTTTTALLY disagree with you there bub.
i think Those toybiz ones are GREAT..and look like they should
i have NEVER liked that version that is coming out again with Logan. I think they look corny..like throwbacks from the 5" figure days.
I don't even seen anything close to a comparison of the two.

"over detailed design"....how could that even be a thing?!?!

************************************************** **********************

From waist to bottom of feet....the new Beta Ray Bill looks very.....uninspired and uninteresting.

While I'm not weighing in on the sentinel debate there are some things that can be over-detailed, Michael Bay's Transformers for example. Take something that was simple in source material and complicate the design.

On Beta Ray Bill, I'm really happy that Hasbro is finally making him but it is a bummer they're using his most modern look. Classic Simonson Bill would have been WAY better but I'm still eager to get this one because it is still Bill.

I understand what you are saying...but that's a very SPECIFIC example (which i believe most agree with)..and that's CGI.
Name me an example of an action figure where you said..."now that's just wayyyy too much detail."

^ That's supposed to be Batman.

To me, "overdesigned" is when there are too many shapes, colors, or details in a design competing with each other, so there is a lack of overarching "broad" characteristic recognizable details or sillhouette that you can recognize at a glance. Things can have a lot of detail without drowning out the broad strokes of the design, and thus can pass the "squint test", and then there's things like the above, where it's just a bunch of angles fighting for the viewer's attention.

The current War for Cybertron: Siege figures Hasbro's releasing for Transformers. The details are unnecessary and leave the whole thing looking cluttered.

There's such a thing as 'less is more' :D

Eh, I disagree. There's a lot of surface detail, possibly even too much, but they never overwhelm the broad strokes of the design: the color layout, broader details, shaping, sillhouette, etc. Too much detail, possibly. Overdesigned? Definitely not.

this doesn't count...that's not a normal Batman figure...they're designed to be ...different.

It still fails to have any kind of coherent, recognizable design (recognizable as in, I can remember what this looks like after I've looked away). We're talking about principles of design, afterall.

I stumbled across the tom of finland stuff way back in 2000’s when i was primarily working in 1/6th scale customs. Some guy had a bunch for sale at a joe show,.....it was one of those cant unsee or forget things.

Oh I love the TB Sentinel. And I have one already actually. I just want the new one bc of how vibrant it is and that it reminds me of the mid 90s TB Sentinel with the chest that opened. X-Men for me is about that vibrancy for some reason, so the new one is a massive want.

Btw, $100 for a Toybiz Sentinel would be a fantastic price. Mine was $160 lol

Augustus_Cole 10-05-2018 03:48 PM

^^
you know any good wrasslin rings? i want one for some picture taking..

Where do you see the TB Sentinel for $100? I see $225+ on ebay. I'm not buying the Toybiz one for anything higher than $60.
