I got my case of Wolverine Legends today, I'm really psyched on all of them except Puck (make me an offer for him). I thought I would be able to unload at least the two extra Wolverines on my local toy shop but they weren't even remotely interested in them (even though they were selling Wolverine for $35......pfffft) so it looks like the cost of Emma Frost evened out. I paid 80 for her, which sucks, but I love the figure, she is beautiful.

I have had mixed results with asking at the stores. One guy told me their store takes forever to get stuff and they just got the Game of Thrones figures. One lady at another store told me a couple of weeks ago that they keep showing up on the truck list but never get delivered. Also, if your Walgreens are like mine, they are in the process of moving toys around. A LOT of toys are ending up on the top shelves of other isles so keep an eye out if you are hunting in store for them. |

Hahaha yes it was but Phat Collectibles was the one that had Wolverine for 35. My-D pins didn't have it at all (which I thought would make it more desirable to them, I mean, it sold through). It's a great Wolverine figure. My nephew got Sabretooth, and one of the Wolverines. I was much too ambitious in my initial proposal but I was surprised they weren't interested in Wolverine at all for anything. I obtained Mystique and Cyclops through other means and harbor no resentment. I'll be back on payday.

Oh so you heard me curse and drop a Wolverine on the ground when I got the news? Haha. Phat had Storm and Magneto for 45 compared to 35 at My-D Pins, definitely overpriced. I have shopping at and dealing with Phat since they were on Beach/Ball across the street and they make it very clear that they are making money off of you. MI Wasp for 50 bucks. Ridiculous. I don't understand how they make any money holding onto old shit like it's gold. My-D Pins is priced to move usually. Spider Girl dropped in price 10 bucks once there were 6 of them on the shelf, I respect that.

To all out there, hello. Went to Walgreen's today mainly looking for the Agent Venom, as well as, Carnage and Toxin from ML Spiderman 2 wave. Well, walked away with an Agent Venom action figure, but no ML Spiderman 2 figures to be found...and thanks for the heads up from previous posts. Look good down the toy aisle(s) because the action figures were not visible at first glance. And, got him for 19.99, did not break the bank on him...Scalpers, this battle I have one. (Rant) I really can not believe that people are trying to sell him, from what I seen, anywhere from 40 to 80 dollars!

No, this is a small collection
http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps9479b290.jpg I do nicely using half-Groot as a base/display for Rocket, almost like a bust. |

I hit 4 Walgreens today and only the last store had the Agent Venom. They had 16 on the side of an endcap. 2 of the little half box display boxes. IF I had more money I would have bought a few to offer up here for people. but I am still hurting from SDCC purchases. At least I got to check a lot for paint apps. I would say about 4 of the 16 were in acceptable shape with no eye mishaps or chest miss alignments on the emblem.

I am currently working on flushing out my cosmic characters and was curious what others think of a couple of the figures I am currently looking at.
Opinions on the Annihilus BAF? I would honestly like a revised one more in line with the Annihilation Wave look but it's still an Annihilus. I do not have much interest in the figures from the wave itself so I will probably opt for finding a complete one somewhere. Anyone have any suggestions on which ML Silver Surfer to snag? So far I am liking the look of the Ronan wave Surfer so long as I can find him for a decent price. I would not mind having Ronan either but I am not sure I want to shell out what is required to snag him. |

Surfer...Honestly I think the current Marvel Select one with the space and board stand and the Infinity Gauntlet might be ok to fit in. My favorite Legends Surfer is the Planet Hulk Surfer. |
@Kirathis
Like Phantomcrow, I have the pink BAF for Annihilus. I like the figure. They came close enough to an old school approximation of the character, which always scores points with me. His look for Annihilation was very cool, but I think it would've been a tricky sculpt given how stylized the design was - thin arms/wrists, thin laser-light antennae, over-sized wings, and cricket legs. The current mold takes some creative posing to stand with the giant wings and I can only imagine that a more lithe body would up the difficulty level. You may want to grab one because I'm not sure they're going to get around to another version anytime soon, but you never know. The Surfers from Hasbro are not my cup of tea. I have the Ronan Surfer, and in spite of wanting the Planet Hulk Surfer, I just cannot pull the trigger. The buck is that lamentable Vision/Klaw buck. My biggest gripe with it is that its undersized. Surfer's doesn't have a hulking physique, but he also isn't a milk-toast fly-weight. In addition to being smaller, its not painted very well and there will be no dynamic posing with its stiff articulation. My favorite is the Toy Biz surfer. Very pose-friendly, proper build (gaunt but wiry/sinewy - strong looking), and ok hands (although they could use work - the "E.T." phone home finger must go). I'm hoping mightily that Surfer gets a remake soon with the Black Panther buck and swap out hands. (I've posted pics of these figs on this thread, but if you want, I can throw something up of Hasbro-Ronan Surfer and Toybiz - however, I don't have Select or Planet Hulk) Ronan? Well, I bought the case for the line and built him outright (and considering the cost of him now, it was money well spent). Life's short. I'd go for it, I don't think you'll regret it....unless of course a new one comes out after you buy it!;) |
Thanks for your thoughts Phantomcrow and TheBlueMarvel. Yeah, I have been looking long and hard at the Annihilus figures I have found on Evilbay. Now I just have to decide if $50+ is worth it. I also like the Planet Hulk Surfer but I am not dropping that kind of cash. I am not sure I would spend that for one of my favorite characters let alone one I am only somewhat a fan of.
@Phantomcrow Thanks for the heads up on pink and purple Annihilus. I thought I saw both but I was not sure if it was a trick of the photos. Hmmm, that Select version of Surfer is pretty sweet. I think that will require further attention. @TheBlueMarvel Is the face as weird on the Toybiz Surfer as it looks in the pictures I can find? I am also curious about the coloring. It looks like a dull grey from the pics I see rather than the more silver tone of the Hasbro version. If it is not much trouble (because I am too lazy to look through the thread), I would appreciate a comparison shot. Thanks again to both of you. |
Long time I was out of the site, what did I miss?
Also got Agent Venom Today, awesome figure for my little Legends collection And guys I was thinking if with the new Fox's Fantastic Four Movie coming out next year, you think there is a possibility that Hasbro make and F4 Infinite Line? |

@Kirathis
You are more than welcome. I'm glad to have done this as my opinion of Hasbro's Ronan Series Silver Surfer has improved slightly. I still prefer the Toy Biz sculpt, but my criticisms of the Hasbro fig are not as strident. Hasbro Surfer: Pros (opinion) Face - it looks more like what one would expect Surfer to look like given depictions in Annihilation and Annihilators Hands - more utilitarian; could be blasting power cosmic or indicative of maintaining balance in a typical surfing posture Board - Gleaming and reflective Hasbro Surfer: Cons (opinion) Head - pea-sized noggin is out of proportion with body Sculpt - shoulders are narrow giving fig an almost teen-like appearance; trapezius muscles are over pronounced creating strange look Board - very thin offering only one foot peg limiting where Surfer can be placed Toy Biz Surfer: Pros (opinion) Face - features large eyes; the look given to the character by Jack Kirby (intended to make him "obviously" alien looking) Sculpt - many points of articulation creating a wide range of poses Board/Feet - magnets in feet allow Surfer to placed at multiple points on board (portion of the board is a metal strip) Paint - silver paint is accented with blue highlights (pics don't really demonstrate this); paint has metallic flecks (can be seen on some pics - my camera and camera-skills are both lacking Ha!) Toy Biz Surfer: Cons (opinion) Face - some may not like Surfer's bug-eyes Sculpt - shoulders look a little wonky when arms are resting at sides due to additional shoulder hinge articulation Hands - hand with index finger extended is silly looking Board - clunky looking when held at Surfer's side |
