What is the best day to visit TRU in Cary? I was going on Thursdays but changed to Wednesdays. What day do they normally re-stock?

Greg 09-24-2013 02:46 PM

Will anyone be attending the toy show at the Raleigh Fair Grounds this weekend? I will have a table with lots of GI Joe figures (Retaliation "Ultimate" Wave" and Pursuit of Cobra/30th), various modern Star Wars, some loose Star Wars and GI Joe, and hopefully the new Walking Dead TV Series 4 figures. The weather is supposed to be nice, so the flea market might be worth checking out as well.

nccollector 09-25-2013 02:00 AM

I'm going. I'll be on the lookout for your table.

Did you say STEAK?
Yes, I plan to go, and my current thing is GI Joe, but the KREO Joes have drawn me into lego sets, too. That's probably the next big thing for me to waste money on.

Falconhood 09-28-2013 07:54 PM

I sighted THOUSANDS of AWESOME toys at the Toy Show today at the Raleigh Fair Grounds. IF you didn't get there today, you can get there tomorrow. It's the last Raleigh show before 2014

Picked up the first wave of 3 3/4" Thor The Dark World action figures at TRU in Durham. Two Thors, a Loki and Kurse.

NCStarscream 09-30-2013 12:53 PM

This may well be old news to y'all since I don't check in here very often or go to TRU much any more, but I thought I'd mention that I went by the one in Cary today and they had reset the whole action figure section and had quite a bit of new stuff (or at least stuff I hadn't seen there before). Lots of Thor: The Dark World product, one Iron Man from the articulated Avengers Assemble line, and a bunch of Transformers (Platinum Series, Masterpiece, Beast Hunters, comic book Generations). They also had a good amount of Star Wars stuff, but I can't say for sure what was new and what wasn't since that line has attracted my interested less and less recently. I did see part of the first wave of 3.75" Black Series figures.

nccollector 10-05-2013 09:12 AM

Went to two Targets today, the one in Durham by TRU and the one in Raleigh on Six Forks. Both had the variant Marvel Universe Series 5 figures of Dagger (regular is Cloak) and A-Bomb (regular is Abomination).

Falconhood 10-06-2013 05:29 PM

Darn! The Target in Knightdale didn't have Dagger/Cloak, but did have black with metal boots Iron Man, Red Hulk, Zemo, the new Wolvie, etc.

mj3141x 10-08-2013 11:03 AM

Saw one more set of Thor: The Dark World 3 3/4-inch figures at the TRU in Cary today, along with an "ultimate" Firefly. That's the first of the G.I. Joe Wave 3.5 figures I've actually seen in the wild. The new aisle reset looks great though.

I'm not sure if anyone else has answered your question or not, but the TRU in Cary receives shipments on Tuesday. Of course it's anyone's guess as to how quickly each department/aisle restocks from that shipment.

Thanks. No one did.

Yeah, I was going on Thursday's then changed it to Wednesday's but it looked like some items had been picked through.

Getting into the habit of shopping a little more on line.

Just got a nice box from Amazon. It contained:
The 3 3/4" Hall of Armor Iron Man 3 Figs.
The Box set of The Dixon Brothers from the Walking Dead
Rick Grimes
Andrea
Halo 2 Series 2 Figs including the awesome 10" tall DIDACT
Master Chief
Orange Spartan
Purple Spartan C.I.O.
Green/Grey Spartan C.I.O

Thanks again.

jetsandheels 10-09-2013 06:21 AM

I haven't posted in quite a while. Here are some things I have gotten in recent weeks:

-TMNT 2012
Shredder v. 2
Spyderbites
Rat King
All 4 of the small turtles
The mouser set

I got all of the above at my local Walmart. They had one of those pallet sets with figures in it.

Transformers
All the idw deluxes w/comic
MP Acid Storm
FE Deluxe BB and Starscream (TJ Maxx)

Last time I was at TRU in Durham they had the platimum sets and a Metroplex. I want to get this guy but Costco in Durham doesn't have them yet.

I wouldn't mind getting a quick review from you on those Hall of Armor figures. Quality wise how do they compare to the Iron Man 2 line? Would they fit in pretty seamlessly?

jetsandheels 10-14-2013 09:41 AM

I'm starting to see more of the FOC Voyagers (Grimlock, Blaster, Soundblaster) in Walmart now. Looks like a revision case came through.

I saw the Baron Zemo wave of Marvel Universe figures at the Target in Holly Springs the other night. I bought Zemo to go with my Secret Wars stuff but left the rest. There's also a ton of Thor figures at TRU in Cary. I even found the Dark Elf along with the Kurse and Loki figures.

Well, these are pretty much the same 3 3/4" figures with the same articulation (hands, elbows, knees, shoulders, hips), unlike the assemblers that have 4 points, the only difference is there is a splash of blue on the chest of each armor to make the arc reactor stand out more (I guess). The set does include the Stark and Mark 42 armor though. It's debatable, if you already have the other armors (I did) is it worth getting it for the Stark and Mark 42 (and pretty nice display). For me it was.

nccollector 10-19-2013 08:43 AM

What a haul today. Found the Wolverine Legends Puck build-a-figure complete set of 4 at Ultimate Comics in Chapel Hill. The Emma Frost was only one per box, so they still had Wolverine, Cyclops and Sabertooth. Also picked up a couple more of the Marvel Universe series 5 figures Ghost Rider, Grey Hulk, Abomination and Cloak (to go with the Dagger I already had) at the TRU in Durham.

mj3141x 10-24-2013 06:25 PM

Found the Kmart exclusive Star Wars vintage-style Ewok Assault Catapult sets at the Kmart on Capital Blvd tonight. They were $20.99 and they had three on the very top shelf.

speaking of ewoks, has anyone ever made the 1970s playsets out of lego blocks? I LOVED the deathstar playset and the creatur cantina that I had, but I'm not willing to pay the prices to rebuy them...but build them, that would be cool...
cool! I found one!

I actually didn't see the sale paper before I saw them on the shelf. That is strange. The regular price is even lower than what they had them marked for on the shelf. The regular price was $19.99 apparently. Oh well. $4 donated to Kmart.

Falconhood 10-31-2013 09:07 PM

I saw these tonight at Six Forx K-Mart, and they had the sale sign. I guess that's another reason to avoid the Capitol Blvd K-Mart.

Falconhood 11-03-2013 08:05 PM

Remember that clearance i got on GI Joes, well...
I AM SO EXTREMELY PISSED! I just opened my Cobra Invasion Team set, and figured out that THIS IS NOT FIREFLY! SOME EVIL MAN has Swap-and-STOLE the original figure, leaving this flimsy leftover figure in it's place...WHY? I hope that SOB gets a 77x curse back upon him! May his toy collection be get stolen or burned in a fire!

I bought this set at the Wal-Mart behind TTC a few weeks ago. Thieves really piss me off beyond belief! If anyone here knows who this MoFo is, please lmk! I'm disgusted that such a greedy a-hole is allowed to live.
