I am looking forward to the Marvel Now and see where it goes. BAsically what they have done is add a few new titles and move around creative teams. Also from what I understand part of the focus is to bring mutants into the forefront of the Marvel Universe instead of off in their little corner. There are going to be a lot more mutants around after Wanda use her magic powered by the Phoenix Force to undo her "No more mutants" anyway.
Have you all seen the art from Uncanny Avengers 1 that shows Cyclops fate? |

Just picked up avx #11. Loved it! When did the hulk join the battle?! And how was that fight going down? One second its just scot and prof x talking, the next fighting breaks out. Was it the prof messing with scotts mind?/

can't wait for issue 12. Over at the Facebook Game Marvel's Avengers Alliance they have their own version of AvX going on with the prize Magik to join your team. It is kind of fun and it will be nice to see how their version plays out. You get to play both sides, and have to to progress. It wets my appetite until the real thing comes out. Do you have your list of titles for the after ready?
|
Man, what I wouldn't give to be able to enable spoiler blocks.
|
Most of us assume each other has read what was going on or wanted to know. Spoiler warnings were gone pages ago.
|
if you dont want things spoiled, dont read the thread unless you read the comic that week, but of course thats not quite fair to strictly trades collectors.
|
Yeah, I would say the discussion part alludes to spoilers. If we had the traffic for comic book threads we could have made two, one with spoilers and one without.
|
Are you all ready for next week? I can't wait until Scott get's his ass kicked all over ther place. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Be interesting how they show the younger X-Men getting there and of course Jean on the cover.
|
Yes, I'm ready for garbage to be over. The demonizing of Scott and many of the X-Men was just a cheap move that really didn't make any sense.

That is hilarious.

I'm calling it right now, Black Panther dies in AvX #12. It's the only thing I can think of that would fuck up storm enough to agree to be a killer on the new Uncanny X-Force team.
So glad this event is finally at it's end. |
I have a pretty radical and out there theory right now that the new Iron Man is actually a robot, because Tony Stark somehow dies at the end of AvX. Why? He for some explicable reason shares the same color scheme as the android Mainframe.

this is from the forthcoming issue #1 http://i419.photobucket.com/albums/p...1_Preview1.jpg |
youve gotta be kidding me....thats worse than my idea.
|
In Fantastic Four is has Black Panther as being broken by Doom. When did this happen? It doesn't mesh because he is no longer king of Wakanda.

Msrvel is terrible at keeping thier books connected together so just blame the writers. Thats how wolverine ends up in six places at once.

So I just completed AvX number 12 which concludes the event. All in all this event delivered in terms of providing serious consequences to the MU as a result of everything that happened. Things can not go back to the way they were in terms of how we remember the X-Men and fiery cosmic entity. The conclusion of AvX not only wraps up everything Bendis has done with the Avengers over the past decade but it ties it all together as well, dating back to Disassembled and House of M.
However, the way things ended I personally felt was a weak cop out to put an end to any future Phoenix stories. The only Spoiler I will include (I repeat Spoiler) is that no one else (in terms of Heroes and Villains we know) dies in this issue. There is a brief revelation from Cyclops as Dark Phoenix regarding Nova that he could see his fear and knew his secret...that he doesn't even belong here! That little bit about Nova, which to me suggested him, being seemingly misplaced from another universe (Cancerverse maybe?)reinforced my faith that DnA's cosmic storylines are not only being acknowledged but respected in continuity (Avengers Assemble notwithstanding until its revealed exactly what is actually happening there in terms of continuity). Otherwise, there were some cool moments in the middle of this event as a whole such as the revelation of the Phoenix 5 but the first half of this event was terrible in my opinion and made this event as a whole pretty average at best. I know most probably hated the event, like most Marvel events, but I can at least appreciate that serious changes are being made to MU as a result making this event more than just a footnote on the timeline. |
I read it earlier and it was interesting. I wonder how long the end will stay the way it is. I mean the entire Norman Osborn thing was undone about a year and a half later. I guess we will see what Bendis will do with the X-Men.
|
Well the X-Men is now "Wolverine and the X-Men" and that's pretty much what it boils down to. He is officially the main figurehead of the Mutant race now and he's an Avenger. And now that he's out of Uncanny X-Force it looks like the only books he's appearing in regularly will be Uncanny Avengers, Wolverine and the X-Men and most likely solo series that will start at #1 again.
The remaining 4 of the Phoenix 5 and Magneto are now wanted fugitives. I'm sure they'll cover that more in the AvX: Consequences book. |
Just finished reading #12 and it made me want to say "no more Marvel". Just so frustrated with some of the big moves. I love that they wanted a way to bring more mutants into the world but not like this. Over the last decade Cyclops became the strong leader of the mutant community and earned the respect of the likes of Magneto and Wolverine. All of a sudden Wolverine goes back to an unnatural hatred for Scott and Scott becomes the villain. Cap (and then Iron Man) set this whole thing into motion then they want to hold Scott and the X-Men responsible for what they did while POSSESSED by godlike cosmic power? Shouldn't they be charged and held in prison for their part in this since they were not in an altered state of mind? The real kicker is Scott was right and all this fighting wasn't even necessary apparently.
Also, how many times has Professor X died or disappeared? I don't feel it will stick and if it does they just got rid of him because he wasn't involved in the core titles anymore. I think my rant comes off a lot more pissed off fanboyish than it really is but I just don't get these choices from a readership standpoint. Do they really think people want this or that new readers will have an easier time because of it? |
yeah kind of a lackluster ending
