http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/...p/275c36d2.jpg

Boba Fettuccini 07-08-2012 07:17 PM

When are we going to get a white-dress ANH Leia for Pete's sake!?

Nice! Wish I'd been able to make it to that show, maybe next year.

M3T4L V1KING 07-10-2012 04:54 PM

I'm guessing Bastila Shan was a tough figure for everyone to find. I've only seen it twice, first time it was on sale for like $6, I would have gotten it but Tiberius' gf INSISTED that she get it. Second time was regular price (regular for Canadians) and I snagged it. Haven't seen it since.

So i have a extra set of
- Shae Vizla
- Nom Anor
- Darth Malgus

I am looking for $60 shipped US, to re-coop what I paid for them, being impatient is such a curse to collectors. I know it is high, and i sorry up front for that.

I just bought all of these for $12-$13 shipped each on Amazon.

Pros From Dover 07-11-2012 08:39 AM

Yeah, Amazon had a huge deal going yesterday for Star Wars figures. Malgus, Nom, Shae...everyone from that wave but Starkiller for 12.00

I picked up two Shae Vizlas and tore open the one I already have to play with.

D00MTR0N 07-11-2012 08:54 AM

this is ridiculous that one cannot find freakin toys at a retail store anymore, this hobby is starting to suck bigtime!

Then go online. $12-$13 shipped is hardly more than $11 after taxes at retail.

the point is I liked finding stuff at retail, and I dont shop online,I hate waiting, seriously,as much as it is a played out topic retail has completely dropped the ball this year.

Boba Fettuccini 07-11-2012 09:18 AM

It's not this year, man. It's just how it goes. I've been an avid figure collector since Star Wars POTF. I went out with my dad multiple times a week, and we still missed out on a bunch of the rare stuff. When ROTS came out, there was only one store, a K-mart, that made it past the second wave.

... I can still fondly remember walking out with 15 clone troopers, most of them variants, and looking at that little $6.99 price sticker. Those were the days...

anyway, my point is that retails has sucked for me here for the last 17 years, it's not a new phenomenon.

Yeah man, Amazon has been like watching the stock market this week.

Shae is up for $13 as I type this message if anyone needs her.

I think August is when Hasbro is really gonna drop the retail bomb. My targets look like theyre preparing for it by taking all of the old stock off, and my TRU's are clearancing out all 4" figs for 7 bucks. SOON.

it is this year,I have been collecting star wars above all other lines since rots and NEVER have I remembered it being so pathetic at retail,im not going to argue this, you think its always been this way go read almost any thread on rebelscum.com,hell any star wars board for that matter, its been beyond shit this year for distribution, period, and I dont recall anyone calling it a "new phenomenom",refresh my memory.

You said 'this year', inferring you mean... this year. All I'm saying is that for me, it was like this in 2011, it was like this in 2010, it was like this in 2009, all the way back to 1996. Now you're just dealing with the same collector market a vast majority of us have to deal with.

That said, tone down the rudeness. That 'refresh my memory' bit is totally uncalled for.

not sure I follow, how am I "just" dealing with the same collector market as a vast majority of "you" have to deal with?

that said, tone it down yourself bro, that whole "phenomenom" comment was uncalled for and prompted my supposed "rude" comment.

now as for the rest of this post, your telling me that "for you" its been this pathetic at retail since 96?thats hard to believe bro,up until this year a collector was able to at least find a new wave within a 3 month time span from the last wave release, this year we have seen spotty(at best) sightings of waves 2,3 and 4,but most of the time stores have not stocked past the deleted scenes wave and that was also spotty,so really the only wave that was distributed this year with full market saturation was TFM wave, now how can you say this is just like any other year, this is not an arguement man, this is fact, this year has been the worst in recent history, period.

trebleshot 07-11-2012 08:09 PM

You both realise that distribution is different in different markets, right? Just because a figure is a bitch to find in one area does not mean it is difficult to find elsewhere.

Also, it is entirely possible that the difficulties that Boba has had to deal with are the same ones you are now experiencing, Doomtron.

Just saying sample experiences from one area (or even multiple areas) should not be construed as definitive proof for the entire North American market. It may be more widespread/common this year than in past years, but it is entirely possible that one area may have sucked worse than others for a longer period of time.

TL;DR
You both could be right at the same time. Agree to disagree and move on before it gets ugly. I don't want to be "that mod" if I don't have to.

D00MTR0N 07-11-2012 08:17 PM

the fact that distribution is different everywhere is not the topic though,of course certain figures are htf and in other places not,its all about what stores order and stock and(at least it used to be)location, but this year is a whole new ballgame ,to argue the fact that it is not an entire nationwide problem this year is completely out of touch man,any board, and I mean any board is full of people confused and sick of the way distribution has been, why is it so hard to just admit it,this year has been the worst distribution we have seen in a long time if not ever?

and no reason to "be that mod",just a discussion.

WalkingDeadpool 07-11-2012 10:40 PM

I think DT is right though...In recent years I've never had a problem finding anything...But this year is garbage.....All my stores, and mind you I have 40 wallys,30 targets,5 TRU's in a 30 min drive...And most stores still have the first waves on pegs from 2012.....it has been a sorry year for toy collecting..I have resorted t buying most of the things I collect online now...
