I hated reading as a kid. Comics where how I started reading. My first comics were Iron Man and X-Men.
I went to the tattoo parlor today after work and got this. This quote always meant a lot to me. I used it on every college essay I ever wrote. I felt it was a good tribute to Stan.

which reminded me to clean out my Flickr account. Didn't have much more then 300 pics in there anyways- but it's down to about 150 now.

It would be nice if Hasbro released that Stan figure but it might be a little tacky to do it so close to his passing.

I was really really looking forward to it before, now I kind of dread what scalper prices will inevitably look like. The same thing happened with Black Series Leia figures that were on the shelves at the time when Carrie Fisher passed, because seemingly 3/4 of the humans on this planet are sentient trash bags.

I mean, get your money. But, still. God damn.

I know! That would've been amazing I guarantee those two packs would've sold better too. I think if they do a Stan lee legend figure now i bet it would be a sdcc exclusive just to piss people off.

I know exactly what you mean! Scalpers know how to ruin shit man. That Leia you're talkin about is the slave leia right? Because once she passed(unfortunately) that figure skyrocketed. Even the 40th anniversary was being scalped.

Nah, Slave Leia had already run her retail course by then. Carrie passed after Disney decreed that no more Slave Leia merch was going to be circulated. It was the Black Series Leia from A New Hope, like just before the Anniversary one with the superior paint came around. I ordered that one from an online store at retail cost and not eBay, so I didn't have to throw myself into the meat grinder of that particular hunt.
People are awful, though. Hopefully enough people who want one will be able to track down a Stan Lee figure if and when Hasbro releases it.

The slave Leia started getting scalped after the whole Disney "retiring" it ordeal which I found funny as hell because before then the figure peg-warmed hard in my area, her and Greedo stuck around for months and then in almost an instant they were all gone. Hasbro's first attempt at the original Leia was the one that was out when Carrie died.

Edit: Brownfinger's post wasn't up when I started typing :o

Tim 11-14-2018 05:52 PM

Ahhh thats what i figured. All i knew I remember like Sabah nerd. That slave leia was everywhere even just multiples of just her them all of a sudden they were gone and askin prices on ebay were like $60-$80 each I remember thinking what the fuck did i miss.

@brownfinger i know exactly man. People take advantage of shit like that. Just to make a dollar.
Ya outta see if you don't know about them but Stan lee pops have started to sky rocket because of his passing. People can be assholes sometimes haha

fredotl 11-14-2018 05:57 PM

So whats everyone using the Ultron head that comes with vintage wave 2 Vision? Is it big enough to put on the AOU Baf? I haven't gotten mine yet and wanted to ask and see the consensus.

Trivial Psychic 11-14-2018 07:13 PM

Wanna see something gross...go look at what Greedo goes for now that the bounty hunters are all pretty much made and done. TRU was practically giving them away at one point, now I'm kicking myself in the air for having not taken advantage of it.

Brownfinger 11-14-2018 07:33 PM

/checks

Say WUUUUUT? Greedo? Really?
I only have one because I wanted everyone in the wave but him, so he just sort of tagged along because I ordered the wave as a matter of convenience. Weird.
He's just been kind of drunkenly waving from my shelf, I forget he exists all the time.

A fifteen second "hi and die" appearance with his own post-retail demand, yet they'll never introduce a beloved droid who starred in three Star Wars video games (and has appeared in several others) to the line. I don't understand this planet.

Part of me gets it, capitalism is the law of the land. Like I said, get your money. But it's pretty damn cold to shake people down like that to inflate demand and diminish supply because someone they care about died.

I remember a time just a few years ago when Greedo was the shorthand for a figure that was pegwarming so hard you could probably build a cruise ship out of all the unsold copies.

How quick the worm turns.

Its just like the old toybiz toad fig. You couldnt walk into a tru or wal mart or targte and not be bombarded with that sumbitch. Then he all but vanished one day and for years he was like platinum. Eventually he did drop but still commanded a high price.

MeLikeJinx 11-14-2018 08:53 PM

Plus, whenever Hasbro rereleases a fig or a repaint of the same figure the original fig tanks in price too. And even if the scalper is stubborn and doesn't lower the price... nobody is gonna buy it regardless. Those archive SW black series figure rereleases hit my LCS pretty hard... once those were announced my LCS put out all his MIB black series figs on the shelf for purchase and nobody has both them because they want the ones with the better face sculpts.

That TRU exclusive wave with the Jubilee BAF pretty much no one wants anymore either... same with the hitmonkey Archangel or the SDCC X-force Legends set... people will just wait for the rerelease now I think. TRU going down and Gamestop getting in the Legends game made it harder for Scalpers IMO.

hasbroherofan 11-14-2018 09:02 PM

When the Defenders box set first got announced I joked that the jerks trying to sell the SDCC exclusive Luke Cage for over a hundred dollars on Ebay were probably crapping their pants.

It's my eight tattoo actually. This was pretty easy, didn't hurt all that much.

I don't think it fits on the BAF, but I could be wrong. I was thinking of putting on a Vision body and doing the whole Ultron took over his body thing. Kind of like in Avengers Dissembled when Viz melted and Ultron popped out of him.

I remember finding Toad in my local TRU and someone offered me money for him before I even paid for him! I didn't let him buy it from me and I still have him. Despite his lack of possibility, I still really like that figure.

Nope. They won't

And the second part of my post had a shout out to Brownfinger for the excellent Stan tribute using Silver Surfer. And he actually used something he created. The umbrage.

All the more reason to make a vocal issue about asshats when they're doing their asshattery, every time. Eventually, someone will be forced to take decisive action, and we won't lose out on posts that had some good content in them because of a total knob.
