Is this how you talk about me when I'm gone for a while? ;)

Fine, I won't talk about what an awful writer [Reddited] is anymore. Or maybe it was all the Firestar comments. :D

Why would I want to invest 100 hours in a game if I have to do the leg work with the story? I buy the games to be told a good story. That is one of the reasons why I always replayed the Ninja Gaiden games as a kid. They were some of the few video games that had fully fleshed out stories with cutscenes and everything. Even Mega Man didn't have that nor did Castlevania until Symphony of the Night.

I see you have never been the dungeon master of a table top game, or enjoyed "choose your own adventure" books as a kid. And that's okay if they aren't for you.

Skyrim had a great story that could be played straight up if you chose. Or, you get attacked by a dragon, escape the cave and see something shiny in the distance, never touching the main quest again if you wanted. Both ways are a blast, and for me...that game was more about immersion than anything else. It's one of the reasons it's been one of the most successful games of the last ten years.

Some people enjoy more linear experiences, where others prefer to explore and create their own situations. Some people enjoy the exploration aspects of a Metroid or Castlevania...while others prefer the simplicity of a straight firefight like Gears of War. I've always enjoyed games where I have some freedom over my character's choices, and even more so when I can inject my own vision of what I want them to truly be.

Well I did play Hero Quest as a kid, but my barbarian was Conan, so he had Conan's entire backstory, the magician was Grey Wolf, the Dwarf was Snagg, but I did forget who I named the elf off of. It wasn't Zula or Jasmine though.

As for the choose your own adventure books, I only read a few of the Goosebumps ones, but they couldn't hold my interest beyond the first few even though I ended up having like the first 20 or so.

Now for Skyrim, I couldn't get into Oblivion nor the Fall Out series. I love open world games, but those ones are just too open for my taste. I spent 25 hours in Oblivion and felt like I accomplished nothing. I prefer something more like The Witcher III, Red Dead Redemption, GTA, Assassin's Creed, etc.

With that said, Metroid is one of my favorite game series, but it also helps it's based on the greatest horror movie of all time, Samus is a badass character with a tragic story, and there is also a lot of lore given to the franchise.

When I used to play, I loved the Rayman games....the solving a puzzle aspect was fantastic.

It's like a math problem..you stare at it long enough and the answers just come. Your brain is putting different ideas together and processing the answer. That eureka stuff is what I loved about games. I always like movies like Speed Racer in the final race scene, when he's finally puts it together, his mind, his driving ability comes together in that one spark and then it all makes sense.

I care less about characters, less about story....solving a puzzle and those moments, is the thing that really matters to me in games, and I guess real life. It's that challenge and solving that I loved about games.

News is breaking that Netflix has officially cancelled Daredevil.

All that is left now is JJ and Punisher. If they were forced to cancel DD, their flagship show, I don't expect these shows to survive either.

Eat a bag of steaming hot crap Disney. Way to kill the best thing you had going in the MCU for your shitty little streaming service...

Harbinger 11-29-2018 08:18 PM

Nutflix is doomed. They really dont have anything other than the marvel shows. Stranger things is ending fter s5 and they really have nothing of note left. Thank god i just watch over the air shows ( criminal minds, ncis la, ncis, supernatural, last man standing ).

Thor Laserpunch 11-29-2018 08:38 PM

You watch what my grandparents watch. And they’ve been dead 25 years.

I am thinking soft reboot of everything to bring it all under the real MCU proper instead of all these tertiary series which have no real connection to the movies. They couldn’t bring in Jon Bernthal Punisher to tangle with Homecoming Spidey, any more than you can have RDJ sharing screen time with some two bit TV actors from Inhumans or something.

I'm not surprised, but I'm also glad I never had time to watch DDS3. No point in doing so now. I expect Punisher and JJ to get the axe after their next seasons come out, though, I fail to see any reason to bother with them either.

Also, why blame Disney? They licensed the properties to Netflix, so Netflix chooses when to end them.

Nothing left? Is Netflix just going to stop making new shows after Stranger Things, Voltron, and A Series of Unfortunate Events end?

I highly doubt that. They'll do something new that will become a hit. That's how TV shows work. No show should be more than 5-8 seasons, which is why new shows come into rotation.

redfox 11-29-2018 09:33 PM

Ordered this set through Amazon during the Black Friday blitz. Could never find this set during the final TRU sales, so I'm glad to finally have a comic Shuri.

Your skipping out on (potentially) great TV because they're getting cancelled?

Ha! That is like saying i ain't gonna watch Game of Thrones cuz it isn't having new episodes. Season 3 of DD is must watch Tv. Absolutely amazing

EvilMonkeyPope 11-29-2018 11:13 PM

The worst part of the Netflix Marvel shows being cancelled is they'll probably not make an MCU Misty Knight ML to go with the MCU Colleen Wing ML.

There's a difference.

GoT is ending with a conclusion. Meaning the story is done.

DareDevil and the others got canceled, their stories were not completed. Why do I want to invest my time in unfinished tales when I can watch something that is completed (Not to mention I already di that with IF and LC)? This is one of the reasons why cliff hangers have no business existing. If there is a chance you won't be returning for another season, DON'T END ON A FUCKING CLIFF HANGER!!

It kills any momentum or reason to watch a show in the first place. Hell, I might have actually given Inhumans a chance had it not been canceled before the first season even aired. Though, I guess it was better that it did happen before it aired since it saved me from investing any time into the show.

That's why I'm still watching The Simpsons despite how bad the show has gotten. I want a god damn ending. Same with Arrow.

MeLikeJinx 11-30-2018 01:53 AM

I think Netflix probably wanted out regardless... they got what they wanted out of the Marvel licenses... Daredevil put them on the map and now they can do their own thing which is anime and sci-fi/horror like Stranger Things and Sabrina.

Even if I didn't think Disney would revive Daredevil and the other shows for their streaming service (which I'm almost 100% certain they will), Season 3 of Daredevil would be a good ending for the series. I'm not sure how you'd know Season 3 ends on a cliffhanger if you didn't watch it :p

I will agree that Iron Fist was probably the bluest balls I've experienced from a TV show since Walking Dead Season 6's last episode though.
