Mattel will be lucky if they are even in business come 2020 at the rate they're going.

I can't see Hasbro's license not being renewed at all. They are simply the best company out there for these figures and they actually care what the fans think.

Thankfully it's likely not happening.

That's true. Somehow Mattel's distribution and shelf glut of back waves is even worse than Hasbro's, which is nothing to write home about.

What are you talking about? Mattel has the best distribution ever. You know how awesome it is that anyone can purchase prison suit Luthor, movie Captain Boomerang, movie Lex Luthor, movie Wonder Woman, movie Trevor, Dark Knight Returns Robin, movie Harley, movie Joker with red shirt, Doomsday Superman, and movie Deadshot on store shelves at the end of 2018? We were lucky if we could find a DC Classic figure like Big Barda on the shelves after two weeks. :D

It's off topic for this thread but I really want new figures of Big Barda and Mister Miracle, preferably in a two pack.

Don't forget Movie Rick Flag!

So with this being the last day of the year and there's no way I manage to buy another figure this year I'm listing my 10 favorites of 2018 in no particular order:
Mysterio
Thing
Silver Surfer
Thanos (Walmart exclusive)
Thanos (MCU 3 pack)
Deathlok
Wolverine (tiger stripe)
Wasp (MCU)
Spider-Man (Gamestop PS4)
Yellowjacket (MCU)

Honorable mentions: Iron Man mk.7, Cable, Omega Red, Crossbones (MCU), Doctor Strange (MCU 3 pack), and Thor (Cull Obsidian wave).

Overall this was a pretty strong year with some top-notch figures and the addition of the MCU first ten years line gave us some really nice repaints and also filled some large holes in the MCU lineup, hopefully they continue the line and give us some more overlooked but deserving characters like Ghost.

DarthKamen 12-31-2018 09:59 PM

I'd say my top 10 of the year would go as follow:

Omega Red
Spidey Noir
Poison
MCU Killmonger
MCU YellowJacket
Silver Surfer
Apocalypse
TS Wolverine
Iron Man MK.7
Carnage

Honorable mention goes to Monster Venom, who I could never complete because I don't want Scream and the arm is too pricey on it's own.

hasbroherofan 12-31-2018 10:03 PM

The idea that anyone would want a BVS Luthor figure is still one of the most hilarious corporate mispredictions in action figure history. My Target still had them lmao.

If it's the prison outfit version, i'd still be tempted by one.

To make a "civilian" Cletus. :p

Now that 2019 is officially here, what are your big Marvel Legends wants for this year?

I think the top of everybody's list is gonna be one of two things: Scorpion and classic Vulture on the Spider-Man side of things (I think at least one of them is a strong possibility) and the rest of X-Men Gold Team on the X-Men side of things.

I also want to see them give us a few more members of New Mutants, 90s X-Force, X-Factor and Alpha Flight. Also, the Brotherhood.

And with all of the classic Avengers and Avengers villains we've been getting lately, we could definitely use some more Avengers in their classic looks, ESPECIALLY key players like Iron-Man, Thor and Hulk.

And this is a personal want, but I've been craving a comic book Iron Spider since forever. We're also gonna need Morlun to go on our Spiderverse shelf (it's shocking to me that with as many Spiderverse characters we get, we never got the main villain) and a Mr. Negative that can double as both the video game version of the character and a comic book version.

Both the Kingpin & M'Baku waves are up for pre-order on Amazon proper. The ETA for both is Jan. 21st.

After getting the Dora Milaje at GameStop, I just went ahead and added a Sable from Amazon. Feeling like I'm pretty much done with Legends until the X-Men figures hit the bend.

Though, I wouldn't say no to a super-secret-yet-to-be-revealed two-pack with Classic/Dark Ms. Marvel & Comic Skrull. Seems like a no-brainer. *crosses fingers*

Giant Sized X-Men Box Set. Or if nothing else, at least First Appearance Storm and Nightcralwer. There are other X-Men characters I want, but at this point, those two are all I am asking for.

On the Spider-Man side of things, a classic Vulture, the Enforcers, Sleep Walker, Molten Man, Cardiac, and Demogoblin, but right now I'd settle just for Vulture.

For the rest of the universe, a new Doctor Doom would be nice along with Diablo or the Puppet Master, also a classic Kirby Thor.

I'm quite good with everything else right now.

I preordered the 6 figures on Amazon as if they can get it before BBTS, it means I don't have to get the 6 armed Spidey since he doesn't come with a Kingpin piece.

On the X-Men front, I'm with Kain and want a GSXM box set. I'd also like to see the classic Hellfire club along with their goons in an army-builder pack not all that different from what we got with the Hydra and AIM troopers.

As far as individual figures, I would also like to see an Outback Dazzler and Rogue, Silver Samurai, and a new Mr. Sinister, but only if Hasbro can top the Toybiz one, which outside the crappy wrist arm articulation, still holds up in my opinion.

On the Spider-Man front, I'm still left wanting a Mr. Negative, Cardiac, Menace, and the rest of the Life Foundation Symbiotes. I'd like to see a new Toxin as well (Patrick Mulligan...not Eddie Brock.) I'm still happy with my Toybiz Scorpion, though I wouldn't say no to a redo, and I'd really like to see Stilt Man at some point as a BAF.

Since the year 2018 is officially done, I can decide on what figures should be on top ten...But if I had to make a list of top figures for 2018, these figures would not be left off my list for best of 2018:

I bought one. I may not like the character but as I just mentioned in another post, figures in casual wear are hard to come by so I'll take them whenever I can get them. And I'm not ashamed to admit, I own two prisoner Luthors and will probably buy more if I can get them dirt cheap. I hope to do a prison yard display one day.

Harbinger 01-01-2019 04:31 PM

Im really not liking this trend hasblo is starting with this either a few accessories with a fig ( carol with an alt head, hands and no baf piece ) or 1 or no dinky accessories and the piece. If the fig doesnt cone with a baf piece it shouldnt be in that wave, especially if its a character like six armed epidey that most folk are not gonna want and will peg/ shelf warm like a mofo. Even the juggernaut wave deadpool, as much as i loved that fig, shoulda either had a piece or been put into a ave with one.

Im sure theres the argument of the a few accessories to no or one accessory to offset whatever cost argument hasblo trys to convince us with but after reducing artic points on so many figs i just dont by the chiba theyre trying to sell us. If they are gonna give us less then the prices should reflect that. Now we all know they wont but they should.

tierneygreen 01-01-2019 04:37 PM

I just pre-ordered the 6 Kingpin BAF figures from Amazon. I really only want the Kingpin parts, so if anyone's interested in the figures (especially Night Thrasher, Puma, Red Goblin, and Symbiote SM) PM me.
