I hope they don't start doing scuba/space/night figs...I would be out of the line if they started giving us those...

My search still shows them all in stock. I have this search bookmarked. It's set to search for newest posted Marvel toys. :)

Why? Three years ago I got my red hulk at retail, (after much searching)now I can go to BBTS and buy one in a "new" package! It just gives me a case of the why bothers. think of it like this, you work hard bust your ass and buy a brand new Porsche, then the next day the government gives everyone else the same car for free, if your ass is not chapped, your either an dead, a hippie, an idiot, or you put no value on your time and effort. If you truly believe that toys have no value, ask yourself this: if they were bio-degradable, ten year shelf life then they rot, would you buy them? I guess I'm just a relist, I'm not going to sit on a moral high horse spouting on about the "virtues" of collecting, everything has a monetary value assigned by the market. you want to play, you have to pay that's life. And it "bothers" me when, (to complete a collection) I need to buy the same figure 3,4,or 5 times. I know there's no gun to my head, but FU its my hobby.

I can understand that point of view for sure. I know the hunt and that feeling of acquiring something new can be a bit of a drug, more so when it's harder to get. I do think that for new collectors just finding the line or maybe those that are younger and just getting into collecting it is important that they can get some of the older stuff at a good rate. I know lots of people won't bother with certain lines because the past stuff costs so much. I had some minimates and that is why I got out of them. I had X-Force and the 90's X-Men but then I looked at getting some of the other teams I really wanted and decided didn't make since to continue given the prices.

Red Hulk was my first MU followed by Hobgoblin. I never really thought of Thanos or Red Hulk as being terribly hard to get as I've seen them enough and you could always find one on ebay for around $20-$25 if you are patient. Both of those were put into team packs and reissued before which made them much easier to get. I really find it nicer when I know figures will be at the store and then I can wait for a sale to get them. I don't tend to care for the challenge, at least not here where the only store that carries this stuff is TRU and the local LCS or toy scalp shop. I get to see just about every figure but rarely shows up at retail. I see it pegwarm at the LCS or toy store because they want $40 for Nova when he first ships or $35 for X-Force Deadpool. Finding them isn't a challenge with stores like that or ebay. Finding them at retail can often be impossible. It was different before I moved from California but now I am glad for stuff like the movie lines that ship a ton and I can get whatever figure I want easily.

At least they have given us some variety for the popular guys, even though some has been in movie lines. Spider-Man has classic, black costume, Future Foundation, Bag Head, 1st Appearance, Iron Spider-Man, etc. They can still give us Cosmic or Big Time or the silver/black armored version. Just keep slipping in new costumes and I am fine. Cap and Iron Man seem to see the most reissuing of the same costumes with changes to certain parts of the figure. I still want to see 90's Modular Iron Man or Marvel NOW. I think the 80's Cyclops, standard Cap, standard Spider-Man, and Extremis Iron Man need to go back into the vault for awhile.

From the pictures that looks like the old Red Hulk Mold. Confusing they went with that instead of cranking out more of the new ones from the 3-pack. I like the bigger one better I think but I've never seen the new one in person.

quinten182 07-31-2013 02:08 PM

Oh man, you're right.. first glance I was excited that was new Hulk. So dumb it isn't.

bitman2 07-31-2013 02:29 PM

They are showing as preorders for AUG 28

That one definitely has the more accurate Red Hulk head. I do think I will get the new mold eventually for a Marvel Now Thunderbolts team but that 3-pack never came here.

Have a quick question. I usually don't open action figures. I like the black series Star Wars . I want to open them.seing how the other Star Wars items are on clearance now shows me they won't have that much value. Please let me know if I'm correct

Yes get him for 10 bucks at HTS which I just did:) Also agreed, was hoping they would put out the new mold instead, but I'll get him for now and if they do a new mold I'll get it later.

Was it the Frederick TRU? I normally see the same old tired stuff there...That TRU Sucks, It always has empty pegs everywhere, but manages to have the most awesome LEGO sets at all times. Too bad I'm not in to LEGO LOL...

I pre-ordered Nova (why is he a separate listing from the other one?) just so I don't have to go hunt his ass down anymore. I don't even LIKE Nova, but I need him for my Marvel vs. Capcom collection. It's driven me bonkers trying to find a figure of a character I hate but still must have, lol.

the new one is different because it doesn't come with the comic shot in the package anymore.

Hahaha. Different strokes, I guess. I take no particular satisfaction in a figure hard won. Here in Quebec, the figures are often nigh impossible to come by, so it gets tedious to pay shipping (up to 20$ per figure on shipping alone) to assemble all the desired pieces.

I don't take pleasure in 'the hunt' and just find myself annoyed at holes in my collection. I'm by no means a completist (Hasbro can choke on thier Spider-man's and his villains for all I care), but I have a pressing need to possess the figures that I desire.

I hopped on the line with the release of the Captain America movie line. I just wanted Steve to chill with my Joes...who needed Bucky...who needed Black Widow (who was my gateway to the MU line, HA!).

So, for me, it's nice when they re-release figures in cases. I can buy an entire case with minimal duplicates (why I'm hunting this recent wave: I wanted only two figures on a case of duplicates).

But, like I said before, I don't much care what you or anyone else have nor how easy or hard it was to get. I care only about my collection. If I paid too much for a figure that you found for cheap, that doesn't bother me. At least now we can both gush over how awesome that figure is. :D

Iceman 07-31-2013 09:26 PM

those movie lines are a gateway lol. Iron Man 2 is what really got me going with buying figures.
