I hope not, I would like to see them revitilize the 25th/30th line and fill in he missing figures.

I hear you there. I was big into that line until it tanked. I have since sold off almost all of my G.I. Joe’s. I think the collectors club managed to fill-in a number of figures. But they’re crazy expensive

That there is the problem. The club has many figures i want, but no way am I paying $50 and up for a 3 3/4 figure. Especially since I would be opening it as well. The movies killed that line, hasbro went all out on movie crap and then did repaints of old figures before erasing g.i. joe from the toy shelves.

So when is Mystique supposed to be hitting Walgreens?

Just saw an auction for her on eBay from Hong Kong. Maybe a month or two out?

MarvelGuy85 02-07-2019 07:51 AM

I'm surprised the Magik figure wasn't a "hit". Not that I knew much about the character, and not like she's on the same level as the Fantastic Four, but there seemed to be a lot of clamoring and excitement for the figure before it was released.

Went into my local walgreens the other day and they just have rows of her. Atleast 20 boxes. Crazy. Plus online she is still readily available. This has the markings of a repeat Medusa all over it where it will be clearanced down to like $10.

Mystique should sell out. She's an X-men character.

I'm surprised in the abundance of Magik figures in my area as well. I saw 5 at a local Walgreens yesterday. She is an X-Men character but maybe not as well known as others, even if she is Colossus' sister. I think that if the New Mutants movie came out on schedule, she would have been more of a hit to collectors. She was also released a few years ago in an SDCC box set. I have that set so I didn't feel the need to get her again. Something tells me that was the case with a number of collectors.

Dr Kain 02-07-2019 09:19 AM

I haven't seen a single Magick figure at all at my stores.

I was lucky to find her in my area, none on shelves now.

Haven’t seen any in my area except the one I stumbled across a few months ago.

Keep your eyes open at Target they marked down the 1st dead pool wave, and as I was checking end caps found the sauron wave 1/2 price as well. That wave has never been out on the shelf at my store before. So if you still need one check your targets.

Picked up a spare Domino for $10.

RE: Magik, I saw her only once at a store. Granted, they had, like, four of her on the pegs, but after I grabbed one for DTL, they dried up.

When it comes to the Walgreens ML exclusives, it's hard to gauge which ones are successful releases, since distribution is all over the place. On the other hand, it's easy to tell which ones fall a little flat (Medusa, Yellow DD, and to a lesser extent Black Ant*).

Hoping that Mystique is a hot enough item to get repeatedly stocked. The last three exclusives (Magik, Thing, and Silver Surfer) were either barely there, or not there at all, at our local Walgreens stores. I'm not worried about getting her, I just don't want to have to jump through hoops to do so.

*I'd include Namor, but I get the feeling that he was more an example of 'production run slightly exceeding demand' and not 'this character is not as popular as we produced for', ya dig?

From what i saw, walgreens were getting cases of Magik whereas mr fantastic and thing were coming in at random numbers... 2 or 3 at a time.

Spyne98 02-07-2019 12:57 PM

Walgreens has a weird system, no denying that. There's 1 that I check every week, and 3 more that are a little further away in my area. The one I go to the most had like 12 Agent Venom, they may still have Black Ants, I never saw Medusa, Mr. Fantastic, Silver Surfer or the Thing in them. A friend found a Mr. Fantastic for me and while I got Thing, Medusa and SS online. Human Torch and Invisible Woman showed up but they weren't plentiful. A few Magiks were sitting there as of yesterday. I never saw the Punisher there, but Daredevil and Namor showed up. Did I miss any?
After all that said, I don't think there is a common experience at Walgreens. It seems like a crap shoot every time. Although it's becoming a pain to track them down, I don't necessary want them to stop getting exclusives. Most of the characters I named wouldn't fit into any wave Hasbro has put out in recent years. I'd argue that you could have easily made an F4 wave from many of the figures, but otherwise most of them wouldn't fit in any wave.

Yet we get crap like a dearticulated six armed spidey, a terrible black cat, carnagegoblin etc in waves many of those excludives coulda been put in. Punisher coulda beenin a spidey wave well as agent venom, medusa coulda been in the slightly taller man ( cw giantman ) wave or the avengers wave ( anything over that king cobra fig ) and some of these revisited characters coulda been exclusives.

Wow I am sorry but this new Kingpin wave is TERRIBLE, except for of course, the kingpin BAF, and possibly the silver sable figure. The rest are just so "eh".

Augustus_Cole 02-07-2019 03:01 PM

Last Walgreen's i went into: 16 Magik figs. Nice looking figure but yeah, i guess most dunno who the fugg she is.

Personally I really dig the Silver Sable, when she was first revealed I was only mildly intrigued but in hand I think her colors are brilliant and her face is an appreciated standout from all of the smirks and grins other female figures have had lately.

Overall though I roughly share the sentiment that this wave is weak and the only reason most people will buy any of them is for Kingpin. This is a pretty great example of my issue with the BAF system, we all want Kingpin but for the most part don't give a crap about the rest of the wave. I'm crossing my fingers that Hasbro will repaint him (black suit perhaps) and stick him in a two pack or something.
