This is actually kind of tempting. Anti-Venom looks great, and Spidey doesn't look all that bad. I know someone who might be interested in the Green Goblin figure.

Any idea how much this thing is going to cost? and about when it's supposed to be released?

Most likely $19.99 and soon

I've been lucky in skipping Goblins and Spidey's. Don't even have that venom mold either. So this set might be a buy for me. It's tough though since I only want the anti-venom. Any refreshers on this figures articulation?

I'm trying to keep my symbiotes to only:
Thompson Venom
Stacy or Cassidy Carnage
Brock Anti-venom
Gargan Dark Avengers Venom
And then some assorted randoms of other symbiotes like the tech one in Carnage USA.

It bends at the knees and elbows, has ball joints at the leg and arms. It uses ratchets which make it snug but to be honest, sometimes I worry about it snapping. And it doesn't have wrist, waist or feet articulation. The head is on a ball joint and pops off.

Anti-Venom. Nuff said. Seriously, it looks cool even in the poorly articulated way. But to be forced to buy those other two less interesting figures just to get the one I want? Touche Hasbro.

It's a bit difficult to tell if that Goblin is a recolour or a new sculpt, though. May not be so bad if it's a new sculpt. To be honest, I wasn't overly impressed with their MU offerings regarding Green Goblin.

It's just a repaint of the Green Goblin from the previous Spiderman line.

Oh yeah? Shoot. Though I have to say the head sculpt from the Spiderman line looked a heck of a lot better than the MU one in my opinion.

This set is the best one I've seen hit retail in a while. The Anti-Venom is obviously a highly requested character, and the others could have been worse. Plus, (personally) I have a couple K-marts I can hit up when the time comes. I have to say that I'm trying to back off collecting MU, but this is cool enough to break the rules a bit.

Unless I am mistaken don't NONE of those figures exist except Anti-Venom now? Also why is he called Venom on the packaging? Only the "Modular Armor Iron Man" and "Extremis Iron Man" are misnamed on other figures that I've seen.

Good catch, I actually totally missed that!

Snowflakian 06-21-2012 12:02 AM

The anti-venom has a decent Spider-Island vibe. They should have just gone all out and done Anti-venom, the new scarlet spider/big time spider-man, and Thompson Venom to fully reflect that.
I expect we'll be seeing a lot of goblin re-uses in the run of the new spidey flicks, so it seems like a bad idea to include him yet again. Heck even carnage would have been neat.

Dark Avengers Gargan Venom is a comic pack with Daken/Dark Wolverine. Cassidy Carnage has been single carded in the previous spidey line, might show up in MU officially eventually through a repack. Gargan Scorpion tail venom works well in the Legends scale from spider-man classics. Now we have "Spider-Island" Anti-venom. So thompson venom and stacy carnage are the only ones missing from my list so far besides the randoms(which some can be found in toy biz lines with decent MU scale).

As for misnaming, it happens off and on. Some retail outlets as far as they know it's just an inverted Venom. So it makes it an easier sale to them, and hasbro gets to slot in a hot fan demanded character under the radar. Especially right now while gossip of the venom movie being unshelved and readapted for the marc webb spidey universe have been circulating.

Not to mention a great opportunity for people who still need him and missed him the first time to get him at a lower price. I have him myself, but I still see the one from the 3.75" line on a lot of people's want lists.

Sorry to be a thread necromancer, but I still really want this toy and can't find it online anywhere - did it ever even release?

So far it only showed up in Australia and may never make it here. Ebay prices are crazy high but their are Aussies that will hook you up.
