Honestly if I were you.... I'd get that figure graded, spend the extra $40-50 and have it MOC behind plastic and graded and could make that thing worth $10,000. I seen a MOC 9.8/10 ML Deadpool sell for $1000+.

And what? Damn...I didnt know people payed 10x for the grade...I thought the grade might add like 2x or 3x the value but not 10x plus...

I don't think the Avengers BW figure is rare at all. It's not a peg warmer, but stores by me are still stocking Avengers figures, and her wave is the common wave at this point.

Open her,.. it's a great figure.

Says you man. Retail here never stocked any of the elusive 3 up here. Id call that rare here.

SoundWave88 07-20-2012 08:27 AM

They are starting to pegwarm here in TX. Ask my man Lord Marvel to hook you up. Skrulls are pegwarming, but I still find ScarJo BW and Renner Hawkeye.

Lol, guess you got some thinking to do. My bad?

DHeezy81 07-20-2012 08:53 AM

I think a lot of people misuse the word rare. Something that turns up literally hundreds of search results on ebay is far from rare. I've yet to see one retail, but I also haven't went on a hunt in over a month.

Also, I could never in my life bring myself to pay $400 for that Castor figure regardless of how rare it is. Seems like you care more about figures for profit than actually collecting for the love of the hobby. If you're banking on cashing in off that figure one day and paying off your tuition or mortgage, you're sadly mistaken.

That sucks. Skrulls peg warm by me. Renner and Scarjo come in and move out pretty quickly, but still attainable.

Here's a pretty reasonable price for her if you need one..

Grading a figure is no different then a card or comic. If the item itself is rare and valuable, grading it definatley enhances it. Mainly because you have an expert grading the coniditon out of 10, and from there the condition will remain the same as it's sealed and protected. I've collected hockey cards and comics and graded items can be only a few bucks more if the condition is shit, but if it's super rare and grading is good, watch out as sky's the limit. Go on ebay and look at the prices of walking dead graded comics, or wayne gretzky rookie cards, shit is banana sometimes. I have a MOC Deadpool and half tempted to get it graded. To me he is 100x rarer then this black widow figure. If ebay turns up more then 100 search results it ain't rare, just popular. Dragon Man now that sob is rare, might see 1-3/month if that. A shop owner told me that grading value is subject to the grade itself, if you have a flawless 10/10 your item is worth 10 times or more the going rate. If your item is less then 5 which is fair, unless the item is super rare the grade can hurt the value, above 5 it's 2x-or more the value. There are exception, ie superman #1 comic graded 2.5 still sold for $100,000 + because of the subject matter and the rareity of the item.

No need to appologize man, just figured you were shipping loose to help cut down on shipping costs... all good I will enjoy ripping her from her plastic prison.

Yeh $400 is way 2 much for that figure, not to say it's not "worth it" due to the recall and limited run, but I'd rather spend $400 on say a complete ML giantman baf, 2 warpath/deadpool sets and a case of ML, or 2 hot toys figures, lol. Just personal preference is all.

Definitely!

Grading doesn't come cheap at all. A graded figure is worth at least it's current market value plus the cost of grading. I have 2 graded figs & I only got them graded because I'd never had it before and wanted to. Plus they were in great condition. Arkham Asylum S1 BatMan AFA 8.5 & S2 Armored BatMan AFA 9.5. I wouldn't take less than 250 for the 8.5 & 350 for the 9.25. But it cost about $120 a piece to have them graded. So that with current market value I wouldn't be making out like a bandit, not by a long shot.

I ended up buying black widow for 15 from a general store here. It sucks, but i had no other options. itd cost that much anyways just to have it shipped to me online.

LapuLapu 07-20-2012 11:32 AM

Got mine shipped loose and since my display case is full , she lies on my computer desk and I think shes a little dusty too :)

Also, I could never in my life bring myself to pay $400 for that Castor figure regardless of how rare it is. No, no, no! I bought it since it's still the cheapest one and I like the Tron movie and Castor! No plans of selling it here.

I was thinking of getting a UV case so the white wont yellow. But is grading really worth it that much since I am not selling it?

If you read that guys feedback it looks like a lot of people say he ships the wrong one and stuff like that. But then a lot of people say he is okay. What do you think?

Probably related to the denomination

Also I saw this, good "grade" dead pool.

Wow, only 400. I'd have to kill off a few more brain cells for that to make sense.

You can order cases w/out grading.

I know it's crazy, but factor in the figure on average is $100-150 range, then $120 to grade it, and probably $30-40 or more to ship it back and forth. If the figure had of been a 9.0 or Higher it would of been $500+ range easy. I seen a 9.8 or 9.9 sell for like $1000 and it was between 2 hardcore collectors in a bidding war. Comics and cards are more notable for grading then figures, but hot wheels and Mego are 2 big exceptions, I see that a lot within those realms.

Default

I wouldn't mind a case for Deadpool or Hawkeye, on ebay they're like $30 plus $30 to ship. too much $$

Normally I open my figures to display them except for rare ones (Thor movie series Laufey, Sif, Heimdall, King Loki and Tron: Legacy Castor) but this is not as rare. It's still rare, but can be found. So should I open it?

I opened mine and just uploaded a review of it on Youtube. It looks good with the other movie Avengers and Quinjet on my desk.

Boba Fettuccini 07-20-2012 05:08 PM

I don't do MOC anymore. It just takes all the fun out of it. I'd probably even open Castor if I got my hands on one.

I know, he has an ever rarer figure then the 1 u mentioned a like 1/1 phasing pheonix figure he was rumoured in paying $2000+ for it. Dragon man MOC is a good $400-1000 to the right collector. Bobby Drake Iceman is around $250-400 range, and I've seen a few rare prototype and 1 up figures go for some solid $$.
