here's a stock holder annual report from mattel from 2010, it's a little old but basically highlights mattel corporate.

Something the probably has not been pointed out yet... He also makes sound that their loses come from low sale in figures (I think this because otherwise they would not be basically pushing for the subscriptions and thus getting a lot of figures you don´t need/want). So, if that is the case, why does every single time they release a wave of whatever figures they come out with on their website, it goes out of stock in less than two days?--To me, it does not sound like bad business at all... just my 2 cents here.

DHeezy81 07-24-2012 09:38 AM

Look, he must have read my post about the boring little table he's always at lmao

Video: About MattyCollector.com 2013 Subscriptions, Part 2 - YouTube

ludovicotek 07-24-2012 10:27 AM

^ I swear that's exactly what I thought when I first saw this video!

Optimus Vader 07-24-2012 10:38 AM

I've always cherry picked which figures I want, but I think I'm going to sub this year. I feel a little differently towards MattyCollector than most do... I like them. There were a few times that they sent defective figures and I was taken care of each time.

brittap 07-24-2012 03:23 PM

Well it comes down to this for me, I just can't pay $246 for a Wally West Flash. John c., Uncle Sam, Phantom Stranger I would buy these in a hart beat for $15-16, but not say $26-28 (with shipping). I just can't blind buy anything, sorry it's just not going to happen.

Bubba304 07-24-2012 11:09 PM

soooooo i just read that "IF" they don't fully sell out the sub the cost of the figures will now be $30-$35 and we would only get like 4-6 figs for the year?!?!?! the sub is currently around 50%....this is highway robbery if you ask me. I subbed up with no questions asked on day one...$25 (not a great price point but I'll bite the bullet). However, I didn't sign up for $30-35 action figures.....how is that even legal?!?!?! did I miss the fine print where it said prices are subject to sudden changes??? If they try charging me $35 and then shipping on top for just the basic figures I'm OUT.

ya know I always kinda thought the self proclaimed "toy guru" was a cool dude, a fan, a collector, "one of us" on the inside. now I know he's just doing his job, and I can tell he doesn't know how to fully handle the situation he's been facing since SDCC...but he's doing it all wrong and lost a lot of respect from me. I love the figures Mattel has produced thus far for MOTUC, DCUC, WWE, etc....I can respect that even with paint app. flaws, backwards shoulders, etc etc. But the video's posted by toy guru as of late are pathetic and disrespectful to us the customers/fans. At its core MOTUC is a fan club for Masters of the Universe action figures....therefore I truly believe the FANS should have more of a say. We should be allowed to vote on who gets produced each year, we should have options as fans not to purchase figures we do not wish to purchase within the sub (I know that goes against the whole idea of a subscription....but if theres a $80 figure you don't want you should have the option not to purchase it) The Sub should consist of the standard figures, any 3 packs, extra large figures, etc should be offered as an option to purchase.
sorry for the rant...I know most of us have been reading rants like this for the past 2 weeks almost now....I kinda got carried away LOL

May we know how far in percent we are from the minimum subs needed?? - Topic

I would imagine they would require some sort of new agreement from customers if this happens. That is definitely not what people originally signed up for.

I really hope this sub goes through.

I hear ya...I just want what I signed up for...plain and simple. Looks like its gonna take a miracle. especially with toy guru's downer attitude.

DHeezy81 07-26-2012 09:11 AM

They claimed to be at 46% of the required subs yesterday I think it was. I don't see them pulling in another 54% in 2 weeks. Hope I'm wrong, but I'll call Discover and have them cancel my sub if they think they're gonna charge 30-$35 per figure.

But, since I don't believe a damn word that comes from Matty or the so called ''Toy Guru", they're probably at like 80% and just want more lol

Lody666 07-26-2012 09:32 AM

Have you seen the newest "news"

So UNLESS you buy the sub, you also run the risk of missing the non sub figures as well!

Q. What can I buy?
A. Early Access was created especially so 2013 subscribers can more easily buy products NOT available through subscriptions. So, for example, when a product that isn’t part of a subscription goes on sale (like 2012’s Granymyr™ or the PKE Meter), subscribers will get the first chance to buy it through Early Access. If it sells out during the Early Access period, that’s it – there won’t be any product for non-subscription holders to buy in the coming sale.

Q. If I have one brand’s subscription can I buy from the other brands?
A. Early Access lets subscribers have the first chance at purchasing products that aren’t available in any of the subscriptions. Early Access will NOT allow you to buy subscription products from other brands early. For example, if you have a Watchmen subscription, you can’t buy Club Eternia subscription products early, like Netossa™ or Elongated Man – but you CAN buy Masters of the Universe® Classics products that aren’t part of Club Eternia®, like Granymyr™.

Q. Will all non-subscription products be available for Early Access? What if they sell out?
A. Most non-subscription products will be available for purchase through Early Access, but please keep in mind that our production quotas for 2013 will be much smaller than in years’ past. If products sell out during Early Access, that’s it — there won’t be more available for the regular monthly sale.

DHeezy81 07-26-2012 09:56 AM

I like getting early access to non sub items. They should be extremely limited tho so scalpers cant buy them out early and rape people on ebay.

Bubba304 07-26-2012 10:03 AM

early access to non sub items is great....but right now I just want to know that the sub I signed up for and paid for is what I expected. not paying more than $25 for a basic figure...I agree with Dheezy....if I'm looking at 30-35 on avg per figure...i'm out...calling my credit card and canceling that nonsense. I get it...some people are happy with 30-35 for only 4-6 figures...they would be pretty rare since the sub wouldn't have as many people...and prob go up in value like crazy. right? but whos gonna be looking to spend that kind of money on MOTUC's in a few years if and when the line is dead....i'm sure all the collectors will already have the figures they want by then....demand will die down. I dunno...its all a crap shoot. I just want more of them to display...the more the merrier.

Bubba304 07-26-2012 10:06 AM

also....this is more a question for matty...but let me ask you fellas first. from what I'm to understand....if I have purchased a 2013 sub....when will my early access start? I really want Granymyr...he's out in Dec...$80 is a LOT...but when I think of some of the BAF's and Collect connects I've gotten off evilbay...$80 for a BIG ASS dragon MIB is a decent price...I would have made him $70-75 since shipping is gonna be more with that dude.

From my understanding, the early access would start with the January 2013 items, so Granymyr would not be eligible for that.

^ Sounds exactly like all the whiners and complainers all over the internet. Of course Mattel is attempting to make a profit from selling MOTUC figures. What company isn't trying to profit from selling their items? I just don't understand this sense of entitlement coming from people where they expect Mattel to give away their product and not make any money from it. Mattel is a business looking to make money. Plain and simple. For people to expect anything else is just ridiculous. They don't owe anybody anything.

Personally, I'm good with the price increase. $5 more is not a deal-breaker for me. Now I will agree that buying in blindly into the sub is a bit of a leap of faith. Especially now with the price increase. There were a few figures during the 2012 sub that people were very upset about having to buy. Can't blame anyone for that. If the production schedule is already in place so far in advance, as ToyGuru has stated on numerous occasions, I don't see why they can't release the entire list of planned figures for sub. Yes, things may get switched around, but it's going to be minor changes. We don't need to see pics or prototypes or anything like that. Just a list will suffice. It would put a lot of people at ease and let them know exactly what their money is being spent on.

Joe Moore 07-26-2012 11:15 AM

Mattel's problems aren't about greed. They're no more or less greedy than the likes of Hasbro, NECA, Hot Toys, Bandai, etc. But they do have issues. Namely, they market their products to a market that IS dwindling. Rising prices, customer disinterest and dissatisfaction, difficulty in getting figures, lack of broad market advertising, etc. Those are all things contributing to the problems Mattel is facing...More specifically the MattyCollector focused sector of Mattel.

Brands like MOTU cannot survive in perpetuity marketing to a collector based audience who was already fairly small to begin with. MOTU is going to need a shot of fresh, young, buyers to sustain any type of longevity. Otherwise they will be stuck with the very passionate (in a good way) but eroding fan base and it will eventually not be worth it to them to continue producing new stuff.

I disagree. They owe us better customer service for those who have had issues. Better QC. I've read about a lot of Snout Spouts trunks cracking, backwards pieces, Goddess and her exploding crotch. To which Matty's response was. "We don't have any more Goddess figures and will not be making more so we can't replace your figures. But if you mail them back, we will refund you.'' So you pay $30 for the figure shipped, spend 10 to ship it back, to get a refund of 20. So you're still out $20 and a figure. Real helpful Matty! What they owe us most. Is to listen to our feedback & criticism, whether constructive or otherwise. They are indeed snobs. But I still want my MOTUC and no the $5 is not a deal breaker to me. Tho it's close.

Just ran across this.

Bubba304 07-26-2012 11:49 AM

the four horsemen just posted a long message to MOTUC fans....
https://www.facebook.com/FourHorseme...96864873710617

LOL sorry Dheezy didn't see you posted the like already....I thought their message was sincere, hopefully it will get more people to sub up. the way i look at it...if its the end or near the end...why not just give mattel what they want...our money...at least we get some cool figures. and when its done and over with...thats it...no more MOTUC...which means money in the bank and in our wallets again...until the next collection of action figures comes along LOL

Shortpack pumped my gas for me this morning. You know how I know this? ...the guy who pumped told me a short story and it sucked.

DHeezy81 07-26-2012 11:56 AM

Did you notice all the figs 4H mentioned wanting to make? No mention of Mantenna. Wonder if that means he's been made already for a late '13 release? Fingers crossed! lol

CMIII 07-28-2012 04:18 AM

well I did subscribe for DU: CIE and am happy to pay for the figures ok understand the Price Increases so for those of you complaining Lets say these were in stores the MOTUC you would be paying 30$ or more for DCCIE you would see about 25$ or more same for Watchmen. For those of you who want just X figure then don't buy a Subscription and run the risk of not getting that figure or even the line and let me tell you Toy$ R U$ would charge that much.

I think they keep the list back so that if they need a big grab for the next year's sub they move popular characters back and less popular characters up so that they know who to make the money from
