I was REALLY hoping for a MODOK reference, even as just the name of a program on a computer screen or something.

You mean the Beekeeper suits?

Considering AIM still exists at the end of the movie (it is a think tank company), there's still a chance that we might see something similar in a future sequel (whether it's another Iron Man movie or some other Marvel film). Same goes for MODOK.

Would be great if the opening scene in Avengers 2 has them taking down some A.I.M. baddies now wearing the yellow.

It would've been such an easy easter egg to toss in there too...just have 'em wearing the suits in the video where they're juicing up the original Extremis subjects. No muss, no fuss, and the comic fans geek out.

It's really, really simple and obvious opportunities like this that sometimes baffle me with why the studio doesn't work' em in.

I'd just like a IM2 style Iron Patriot 3 3/4 style.

itMFtis 05-13-2013 08:37 AM

Saw the movie yesterday. I would like to see a movie Savin figure with some feint, but noticeable "fiery" paint applications.

You, me, and 99% of Hasbro collectors. I don't want to settle for their ugly crap!

SPOILER ALERT! Movie details discussed below.

2. I do not want the lava people from volcano land because they'd kill all my Iron Man toys. Extremis infused civilians are apparently the most powerful foes in Iron Man's existence. They can touch him.. just.. touch him.. and he loses. Suit shuts down, they can tear his near indestructible suits in half.. Iron Man in this movie was a super sissy because these regular civilians get the extremis and as powerful Steve Rogers AND they have hands that can destroy anything. Oh, and they heal like Wolverine. This was just a bit much. Yes, I read the Extremis arc, but they weren't able to 100% dominate Tony by simply touching him..

3. Finally, all the armors. I read a book in Target about all the armors in the movie. Red Snapper? The suit with pinchers to help rescue people? Lame. Why did we not get a "Heartbreaker" super chest arc blast shot to obliterate one of the baddies either? I was so excited for that. This said, some of those suits would be cool to get as individual releases, not ridiculous builder crap. However, why was Tony in malfunctioning suits for most of the entire movie? He didn't have a suit that worked for the first nearly 2 hours of the film. Everything was breaking or low on power.. we barely got any Iron Man in this movie.. even with the crazy amounts of armors in the end. Was it entertaining seeing him jump into different suits and see them all flying around? Sure, but why were they all getting completely destroyed so hard? It bugged me that his armors seemed pathetic and weak all movie long after being able to combat an alien race taking over the planet in just one suit, go through a worm hole, survive, and come back. Put Mark VI back on.. because everything else you've built apparently sucks.

I couldn't agree more. In Avengers, The Mark VII and Mark VI went through Thor(whom I would surmise is WAY stronger than the 'Extremis' people) and the Chitari(spelling?)! While yes, his armor went through some scathes and was barely functioning by the end of the movie(or by the end of the helicarrier scene if we are speaking about the Mark VI), the durability of these said armors still can't be denied compared to the Mark 40 plus of IM3. That and I didn't fully comprehend the 'operation Clean Slate'.

Moving away from that rant now. I would love an Iron Man 3 "Silver Centurion" 6 inch figure. If the debacle of the hall of armors in the movie elicits a flood of toys, then I'd be somewhat more forgiving. As long as the said toys are of course not the assemblers. Hot Toys is jumping on board with a couple of those armors.

bmorr 07-03-2013 05:55 AM

k'now he probably had a lava suit somewhere in his armory to help with volcano disasters, like in the old cartoon. that would've helped, but nope, nowhere in sight

Masterless 07-03-2013 08:07 AM

^I remember in the old Toy biz line of the 1990's Iron Man series, I believe he DID have a lava armor. Hahaha! That would've came in handy for sure.

With regards to Thor, he could've been pulling his punches when he fought Tony. He wasn't there to fight, he was there to find Loki. And the individual Chitauri weren't a threat to him, but their giant flying snake ships were.

Also, most of the armors that Tony had at the end of IM3 were probably half-realized thoughts, including his MK 42 (which was explicitly stated as being a prototype and shown to be twitchy throughout the film). The MK VI and VII were both destroyed during AIM's attack on his house. He was also incredibly disturbed by the events in Avengers and tinkered to keep himself from reliving those moments. Basically, he had PTSD. I think the writers tried to do as much as they could to show Tony at his weakest, both inside and out.

Having said all that, I still agree that the Extremis soldiers were overpowered. I'd have been fine with Killian having those abilities, but not all of them.

A viable thought in regards to Thor and the Iron Man battle; but I would surmise that Thor was also in a hurry so being 'bothered' by a mere 'metal man' and pulling punches wasn't in his best interest. Then again, Thor does show a lot of reluctancy since he has lacked the testicular fortitude to slay his brother since his solo movie. Again, your thought process is adequate, but in regards to the Chitauri, I still think they are a bit more of a threat than mere Extremis peons, but as you stated, with the exception of Killain, they were overpowered.

I fully comprehended that MK. 42 was extremely glitchy(first clues of it was when it sensed Potts as a threat when she was waking him up, and of course the blatant words of Jarvis during the helicopter scene), which makes me wonder why it was his main 'gun' throughout the whole movie, but go figure. Having 'half thought out' Armors wasn't exactly practicing prudence in Stark's part, but I guess the whole notion of 'quantity over quality' was in affect in regards to the 'Iron Men' since he was doing it in his 'spare time', or what little of it he had during the whole thing. Having 'everything else' rampaging him, I can understand how his armors weren't as durable as MK VI and MK VII. Perhaps they were all as durable as MK V. Again, I understand that part but I still have qualms with it. The SIlver Centurion is one of my favorite armor he has and to see it obliterated in a mere two minutes was heart wrenching.

And while I know that MK VI was destroyed, I believe MK VII was not. It was the armor that Pepper destroyed herself in the last scene... which again, having gone through Thor and Chitauri, it was disposed off rather easily. Again I could be completely wrong and that could've been another one of the Mark whatever that Tony summoned, but if my memory serves me right I think it was MK VII.
