I am guessing the price for these will be more than $9.99, probably $14.99. At $9.99 I would pick-up Jack Skellington, Rocketeer, and maybe a couple of others because the cards are cool but at a higher price point, I might pass.

Is there anyone in their 30s who thinks these look like crap? Because I'm wondering if all you nitpickers are just younger and come from a different generation who doesn't understand and appreciate the appeal of these toys like those of us who were children of the 1980s and grew up with vintage Star Wars toys and other similar lines. The simplicity of the sculpts and articulation is the whole point of these toys! It's capturing the nostalgic memories of our childhood by offering toy lines for movies that SHOULD have had toys in the 80s, and producing them in that retro style. It's easily the coolest toy collection I've seen come out in the last few years. I can't wait to see their Goonies and Back to the Future lines and maybe other surprises unveiled at Toy Fair this month.

I'm in my 30s and I would've preferred if they compared to POTF2 standards but Funko is almost as good at wasting licenses as Jazwares so I hadn't planned on pitching a fit over it.

Entertainment Earth already has them priced at $9.99. BBTS and other sellers will probably price them the same. I'm waiting for BBTS to put them up for preorder though. I'd rather order from them than Entertainment Earth so I can take advantage of the Pile of Loot option.

I get the sort of retro appeal, but manufacturing standards have come far enough that nostalgia is not even remotely a valid excuse for inferior product. There are many who will buy and enjoy, and honestly, good for them! I'm more excited for Funko's significantly more modern-looking six inch line of legacy figures. (Firefly!)

BBTS had them up a few days ago but said on FB that Funko had requested that they remove them until a later date (the 10th I think).

I like them. 5 points of articulation is perfect for them. All things VINTAGE and RETRO are huge right now.

The point is to look old. Period. If your an articulated kind of collector, then pass. If you like things that look like they came out of a time capsule....then these are a dream come true. That is why they are all 1980's movies.

I will be getting several of these, and opening them. If you want modern figures, there are plenty of them out there. These are a WELCOME change to me. A break from detail and articulation.

Come on, a lot of us are complaining..... but these aren't supposed to look awesome...they look fun!!!! Go on, buy one...open it up and PLAY...you may just find them to be the best figures in your collection.

I have mixed feelings about these. On the one hand I think they look even less detailed than the Kenner figs from the same period, on the other I always wish they made figs for these lines back in the day. I think the packaging alone and the nostalgia will be enough to drive me to buy them (addictions...) but they still disappoint. I'm waiting on Goonies / BttF most of all though, so I'll reserve final judgement until I see them.

This was already answered in an earlier post in the thread. Entertainment Earth already has them up at $9.99 per figure. BBTS will be listing them soon too, probably for the same price. I'm hoping BBTS also offers some kind of discounted price if you buy a full set rather than individual figures. I know I'll definitely want all the Terminator, Back to the Future, and Goonies figures. Maybe Predator too, though I'm annoyed that its nothing but Predator variants and not a single Dutch figure or any others in his squad.

Why would you expect these to be priced cheaply, when we already know what the Super 7 Alien figures cost? It was always going to be in the same ballpark of pricing. This is a nitche collector's line for adults, not kids, and isn't going to be a cheap line released at mass retail.

People don't 'get' the point of these figures but what I don't get is the negative backlash and the purpose of calling it a 'cash grab' or 'retarded' or 'pointless' etc. There are literally hundreds of other super-articulated lines of action figures with hyper detail, in a full banquet of sizes. There is very little out there with this 'retro' aesthetic. It's pretty damn cool for those of us who like it. You've got your hundreds of other lines that appeal to you, why cry about this one.

Exactly. The quoted post sounds like somebody who thinks a toy is a toy is a toy. My beef is not with the articulation but the sheer "blow-up doll" look of many "retro" sculpts. Looking back, I wonder if that wasn't a big part of why I collected almost nothing but GoBots and TransFormers when I was a kid. There's absolutely no shortage of TV shows that I'd collect toys from if a little effort was put into producing them.

No, the quoted post does not sound like somebody who thinks a toy is a toy is a toy because I made that statement that was quoted and that isn't what I said, isn't what I think, nor was it worded in such a way or implying such a thing. I've been buying modern toys since 1995 and I appreciate a realistic and detailed sculpt as much as anyone. I also happen to appreciate other styles - I'm just omnivorous that way. If I really like a character I enjoy buying different renditions of that character, be they 12" or 6" or super-articulated or a minimally articulated gashapon or even a LEGO or Kubrick figure. :)

This line is a niche line. It is not taking anything away from anyone. It is not a missed opportunity. It does exactly what every other niche line does, fill that niche. Nobody should "have a beef" with a line that wasn't conceived to make action figures in the style that they want. By that logic I should have a beef with Funko because I want a modern chogokin Iron Giant toy but all I can get is the POP Vinyl figure. (I'm fine with that, and happy that anyone is even recognizing the Iron Giant at all in any format.)

If a detractor is interested in finding silver linings, look at what else Funko is doing: The Legacy line. 6" figures in the style of the Star Wars black series. Perhaps the sales of the ReAction figures, which are likely spawned from the sales and success of Funko's POP Vinyl figures, will allow them to bring some of these same licenses into that line.

If you can endure the existence of ReAction for a while you might get some modern Back to the Future, Pulp Fiction and Firefly figures, which I have to assume is what the detractors want because there is already a smorgasbord of modern Aliens, Predators, NBX, Universal Monsters, Terminator, Freddy, Jason etc. figures available. There were even Goonies figures not that long ago, and that Snake figure Joe posted a link to.

Point is, most of these licenses have been covered in a modern style AD NAUSEAM by various companies in various scales, many of which are excellent and currently available for you to buy. It really shouldn't be so troublesome or ire-inducing that some fans out there are interested in a retro-style line that is meant for fun, and that a toy company is fulfilling that demand.

Exactly. $10 is pretty much perfect for these. It's the same price as the POP Vinyl figures, which are even more of a niche item yet still sell really well. I'm curious to see if the ReAction figures wind up being sold in as many places as the POP Vinyl figures. Would be nice to walk into the Barnes & Noble next to my office and grab one now and then.

I think these are pretty cool and wonder why other companies did not cash in on this back when I was a child. Nonetheless, I think what Funko is doing here is pretty cool, it hits that nostalgic spot and hits it quite well. This isn't aiming to be a modern day catch all fully articulated 4" line, it's a modern line of figures from neglected classic properties that aims to replicate vintage styling; effectively restoring figures that we wanted but were missing from our childhood.

I like these and hopefully whatever properties were able to be used for this can be used in the 6" fully articulated Legacy line too.

I think this entire line looks great. Someone else has probably already suggested this, but I would love to see a Dungeons & Dragons series done in this style as well, maybe either based on the 80s cartoon or the original 80s toy line.

I think Funko dropped the ball, also the Biff figure looks just like Brian Singer.
